  1. Hi Raiders Can any body advice of the current prawning situation.I am considering going out tonight. Probably up at the entrance but if other alternatives are suggested i may try. Regards Dashe
  2. Hi There I went up to the entrance last night with my son .Only managed a small amount of prawns and they were on the small size.Lots of fun trying and heaps of holiday makers attempting to do the same.We went out in a tinnie but the majority were down near the bridge on foot.
  3. Very few that i saw.Lots of Sailing boats came out to play
  4. Decide to head out at dawn.Left from Rowland reserve and initial concerns were telling me why did i bother water was choppy and just a little cold frozen: Headed over near portuguese bay and dropped a line also accidently dropped the berley bucket into the water with the lid off.Looseing all the pellets at once. .Wasn/t getting any bites so headed around to coasters retreat and thru in a line got a bite straight away.Dropped down some more tempting treats and pulled up 3 under size snappers. The sounder was littered with fish but the big ones remained elusive. Headed back to the ramp at 12.30 and just got the boat back on the boat when weather turned foul. Still enjoyed the day and will paying the waters another visit soon.
  5. Hi Raiders Love the site and read most posts regularly. There is a wealth of information here and for a relatively new fisho such as i it is a very valuable tool. Thinking of heading to pittwater on Sunday morning. Ive never fished here before and have a small tinnie.Whats your opinion with the forecast for wind and chop increasing thru out the day. Do you consider its still worth ago? Is there plenty of sheltered coves etc? That one could throw anchor and enjoy the time with out being thrown about by the wind and chop and still be in with a chance. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    Tinnie Wiring

Hi Raiders I am currently attempting a rewire of my tinnie and would like to run it by some more experienced individuals as to the correct way to wire up a 12v system in an aluminium tiller steer boat. I have a small 12v battery just to power the finder and nav lights etc etc Now if i am not mistaken i run my active lead to a switch then to a postive bus. From there any active wire coming from the positive bus has an individual inline fuse before their individual switchs. From those switchs i run to the active on the components. Now all neutrals from each component run back to a negative bus then one negative lead runs back to the negative side of the battery. On my finder a furuno 620 there is a post at the rear of the unit for what i believe to be a earth. Do i run an earth lead from this post on the back of the unit to the negative bus? The tinnie is a pull start so there is no wiring running to the outboard. Thanks for any advice inadvance.
  7. Hi Fellow Raiders I just purchased a jm watersnake bow mounted 54lb motor 12volt.I would be grateful if any body can recommend a battery and charger which is suitable. Also any advice or sites with recommended reading on the topic. I believe a deep cycle battery is prefferred and discharge below 50% is not recommended but are not sure of specifications. Also can i run my sounder and lights off the same battery. Thanks inadvance Dashe
  8. Hi all As mentioned in another post my success to date is almost zero.So burley is a must in my books.I have been considering a purchase of some pvc bags which are suppose to disolve after a short while in the water. Thus allowing the burley to be lowered to the required depth before breaking open. Have any of you used them? If so do you think they are worth the outlay. regards Dashe
  9. Whilst drafting the last post it was only drizzling looking out the window.Ever since it hasn't stopped pissin down. The only place i have tried is from yurulbin park Birchgrove. On the right day it appears like it would be very good spot but like i said i had no luck at all.
  10. Hello all I have been a member for a short while but this is my first post.I consider myself to be a novice when it comes to getting a fish to take the bait. For two reasons the length of time i have been actually doing it and the success rate is very poor. I am sitting here with that need to get my fix.(Flick a line) . So i am weighing up the idea of going down to the western side of Sydney Harbour for a landbased session tonight or early morning despite the weather. Am i wasting my time? Either way can you suggest a good spot ?.And considering the weather and location what species of fish is my best chance of catching?Could you please suggest rig, bait and burley technique also. Up until now i have not focused on targeting one species and i feel this is part of the reason for the poor catch rate so far. Most of this has been in the hawkesbury boat based. I have enjoyed reading the posts on this site and thank all inadvance for any suggestions. dashe
