  5. iv heard stories about the penn reels in regards to internal components in the newer models, i cant exactly remember what it was but i think it had to do with the gearing system and the type of metal used.
  6. mate let me tell you about okuma, obviously you get what you pay for, but if you go up the scale to okumas more expensive stuff (which isnt that expensive anyway, the reason being okuma dosnt have the same name as daiwa or shimano) you'll be pleasantly suprised.... i refer to the "salina" range, i own 2 okuma sa80's.... these reels look good, feel good, have got lovley drag system, and i would not hesitate in recomending them, the thing i like about them most is the thick bail arm and the black and gold colour.
  7. frigin' dirty pike... good for bait only.
  8. WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR YOU TO PULL OUT YOUR HARD EARNED CASH AT YOUR FAVOURITE TACKLE STORE, WHICH BRAND DO YOU PUT YOUR FAITH IN AND WHY? PERSONALLY I GO SHIMANO MOST OF THE TIME BUT IF WANT TO TREAT MYSELF ILL GO DAIWA, I THINK SHIMANO OFFERS MORE VALUE FOR MONEY AND THATS MY REASON.
  9. and whilst we're on the subject of annoying birds....i dont know what the hell its called but when you've got a livey out off the rocks ( mind you this is the livey you've spent half an hour trying to catch ) and this damn bird comes along, dives underwater for a couple of minutes and surfaces with your yakka i should take a rifle next time i go rock fishing lol, that be a good look three 12 footers a back pack, a bucket.... and a rifle.
  10. yeah ....pelicans are great fun, especially when your cleaning your fish and one sneeks up behind you and snatches that thumper bream you caught that day, and all your left with is the memory of that pelicans neck thats taken on the shape of a 40 cm bream.... yeah woohoo lets hear it for the pelicans lol
