  1. ok, Thanks all for the comments and responses. With that said if one is teaching others to fish but not actively fishing, do both people have to have a license? cheers
  2. Hi Raiders, I know this is a sensitive subject but was wondering if anyone has some insight as to the actual rules and regulations on a fishing License when it comes to not having one in your possession and whether or not one can be transferred to another fisher. Recently I had gone down to the water’s edge to meet up with some friends who were fishing. They had been successful and while they were cleaning up, low and behold the NSW fisheries came by. Now the catch was inspected and all fell over the required reg size limit, so no problems there and then licensees were inspected. Ok, so this is where it gets interesting…. Of the 3 fishermen, 2 had their license and 1 didn’t as we can all make that fatal mistake by leaving it at home. If I am a visitor and not fishing, can I pass on my valid fishing license to the other fisherman? I do not want to break the law here but since knowing that my one friend purely forgot his at home he copped a $75 fine, no warning or anything else, they can see that all the guys were well informed and that they had really specific fishing equipment and cared for their passion . There are a lot more other people out there keeping illegal sized fish so why do they not target those people instead. kind Regards Squid_jig
  3. Yes, It was a great day and was certainly one of those to remember. Great people to fish with which brings me to my next question.... So when are we going again..... Might have to make it a fly only fishing day Royce? cheers Adrian
  4. Thanks Roberta and Trevor, Yes Royce is a definite pool of information and I would defintinitly love to spend more time with him on the water as they say....having local knowledge and many years of experience....you just cant beat that and get that sort of information from any book or website. Also After moving here to Aus, and not really knowing anyone to go fishing with it will be great to have some good fishing friends. cheers Adrian
  5. Hi Everyone, Well the weekend was definitely a huge success with me being able to meet up with the likes of luderick_Angler and Scrubby with the hope of successfully catching these elusive fish. In addition I also met two other raiders who were also eager to be introduced to the fine art in Luderick fishing Johno44 and son. I have to say that these two guys have a wealth of Information and watching them and listening to what they say is imperative to being successful or not. The technical lessons and reasons behind what they do are all aimed at being able to locate fish and most importantly catch fish. Fishing the right depth and having the right gear. Well after the formal introductions and Lessons about rigging… We were all eager and ready to get fishing. The morning was rather slow in that Luderick_Angler was the only one to put 1 very impressive fish in the bag, and having only had a possible two downs between the 4 of us meant that the fish just did not want to play as per schedule. No Matter, I eventually got a down without even knowing, as I was talking away with Scrubby and then he says to me, you have a down. I’d turned looking at the water and yip the float was nowhere to be seen. I wound up the line and sure enough there was some head shakes and a decent bend in the rod. Easy does it and yip we have our first fish. It was very quiet after that and not much action was being had by anyone but then after the next hour or so we all had a window of opportunity where we caught and dropped a number of really good sized luderick. Hmmm Scrubbys netting ability will definitely need more practice…. Hahaha We will have to ensure you get more opportunities on our next outing hahaha. Anyway the time was roughly about 11:00am when the fish were on the chew and soon slowed down by 13:00pm. Anyway with us all thoroughly enjoying the outing Luderick_angler left us to fish a little more while he bleed and cleaned the fish. What service. With a few fish for a feed, I was really happy with that and nothing beats fresh fish for dinner which the kids, wife and I enjoyed. Thanks again Luderick_angler and Scrubby for a fantastic day out and I hope to see you again soon on another outing, besides I still owe you for the great outing. As for Johno44, I hope to see you again for another great session. Hmmmm I might have to convert from Squid to them blackies….. Cheers Squid_Jig
  6. Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can try and catch some sand worms. I am looking for a place that is near to the north shore side as I need to be able to gt back home on quick notice. Been to the likes of Manly beach and 40 B and nothing at all. Any advise is welcome. Thanks
  7. Thanks Royce, Hey Any chance of us meeting up this weekend or next for a luderick session. I also own my own fly gear if you think that will be worth a try? but I do not have any weed patterns cheers Adrian
  8. Has anyone actively targeted blackfish at night and successfully caught them. I tried nippers and Weed for no interest at a very brightly lit wharf and too see schools of luderick around and not hook any was very frustrating. Seems like my blackfishing is just as bad as my garfish fishing in that this year so far it's been donut after donut. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I am looking to target some luderick from the shore, does anyone have any spots that are safe to fish from and does not invole major rock climbing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  9. Hi All , I was just wondering if they alow float tubers to fish this lake and any chance of me fishing with someone as my wife really doesn't like me fishing alone. Also is there anyone that travels to this lake from Sydney? I fly fished a lot in South Africa and since coming to Australia I have not fly-fished ( 6 years now) Cheers Adrian
  10. I was actually there to target the squid at night and I actually waited for the gars until sunrise to start fishing for them but likewise nothing.
  11. I was at a wharf near manly on Saturday and Well plenty of Garfish during the early hours of the morning... 3am but as soon as the sun rose, they were all gone.... Why ? I burlyed and all that we were plagued with was yakkas and cormorants. A Guy Next to me kept having his liveies stolen by 2 cormorants, it was very entertaining. Anyway after not seeing any garfish around I caugt a fews small Bream and decided to give them to a very patient Pelican. Geesh he sure can take a whole bream in one gulp. Left at 8am with nothignt o show for it. Also Tried for Squid earlier on 2am - 4am and absolutely nothing, not even a follower. Hey has anyone been able to successfully catch garfish during the night? Met another raider at the wharf and hope he had better luck? cheers Squid_jig

    Garfish

HI All, I was wondering if anyone can tell me when is the season to catch garfish. I have only caught them once before and well I thought that it would be around now but so far I have not seen any. Also I only ever saw them at Balmoral. Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks Squid Jig
  14. Went out for a fish on Saturday early morning to a local wharf near manly and had success with 4 squid landed and 2 dropped. Decided to also have a look at the Spit Bridge but the water was moving out quite fast so decided on fishing at balmoral. The water was rather dirty and the fishing action was rather quiet. I sent out 1 of the fresh squids and tried to catch a decent small yellow tail. This proved harder than expected as all I could catch was small breams and very large yakkas, largest that I have ever seen, +- 30 cm ones. Anyway finally see the big rod with the squid load up and Zzzzz. I set the hook and at first I thought that it might have been a kingfish but then after looking at the surface in the distance, it appeared to be a large flattie. Oh well that is still not too bad I thought, winding in more line it then became more clearer… A Ray. Oh well it’s my first ever ray. Thanks to the guy that helped me release the ray. Not knowing how to handle the ray and seeing that tail whip about has made me think that getting a boga-grip might be the next best thing to get. Anyway with the hooks safely removed, the ray was released. The rest of the morning I managed a decent Trev which I lost to finally pulling the hook. That’s fishing for you. There seemed to be a fair amount of top water action probably due to taylor and possibly small frigates as one guy said, not sure. No one else seemed to have caught anything and all sort of small lures and poppers were sent out for no results. Hey, has anyone seen any garfish around as I am really wanting to catch then for dinner. They are just great eating. Cheers Squid Jig
  15. Hi All , Well I have a number of questions.. 1. Where is the best spot to hook a live Yakka? 2. Where is the best spot to hook a live Squid? 3. Where is the best spot to hook a live Cuttle-Fish? 4. Do you prefer using one hook rigs or two hook rigs when live baiting. 5. Has anyone seen the garfish around this year and when is the best time to catch them? Kind Regards Adrian
  16. Well what a sad Weekend. I decided to go and fish for some squid near Manly and well I had managed 1 squid and 1 cuttle fish after a fair amount of time. Then had a bright idea of targeting the king fish on my one piece graphite rod which has caught kings before. Anyway went to 40 B and threw out the cuttle first. A short 5 minute wait and then tap, tap and then Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I let the fish run and promptly set the hook. The fish ran and actually swam back towards me on the jetty and as I quickly reeled in the slack line and followed it, actually saw the fish. It was a fairly big king fish. Suddenly he changed direction and headed out and well from that point all I could do was hang on. I As I put more pressure on him the dreaded Snap was heard but not the normal snap of the line but rather … As I looked in shock, the snap of the tip of my rod. He was still on at that point for a further 20 seconds and then nothing. Reeling back my line in, I expected a break but I still had the hook and attached to it was a small amount of the cuttle fish back bone. Well what more can you do except look in disbelief and feel utterly violated by a fish. Well I might as well then throw out the other squid and see what happens. The squid head was attacked in no time and not much after that. In between I managed to catch 2 largish yakkas (almost 22cm) and decided to throw one out. Now I pinned him through the nose and sent it out and in no time he was going crazy. Then nothing. I wound in the line and saw that he was still on but almost dead. I decided to still throw it out and in less than 15 seconds the line goes straight. There are a few short runs and I finally decide on setting the hook but nothing. I wind it in only to see the yakka s head completely destroyed and the full back and belly devoured. No too sure what that was and can only think that it might have been a cuttle fish or a large squid. I then proceeded to throw out the other yakka and this time also after a short wait the reel goes Zzzzz, I let it run and then set the hook. I was playing the fish for about a minute (having 2 other runs in it) when the line goes slack. Reel in the line and yip I still have the yakka attached to the hook. Am I doing this wrong when live baiting as I seem to not be getting the hooks set properly. Well after that I gave up and decided on trying for the luderick that were quite abundant but as I had thrown just about all my offerings of Bread and Sea weed at them to burly them up, they constantly just ignored my fresh weed that I collected. I only had some cabbage weed and they would see it and then turn. Very frustrating and well not much after that except I did manage to catch another southern calamari that proceeded to elude and tease me the entire morning.
  17. Went out to CG on Sunday morning. This is my second time fishing here and was really only wanting to target the squid and possible something big that would eat the squid and later on black fish. Well let me say that the session started off rather very slow, landing not 1 squid at all for the first hour. Then just before sunrise I threw in a little bread to catch a Yellow Tail, Rig it on and send it out suspended on a float. Not much happening and well lots of other people fishing that piece of water. Only thing I saw was guys catching a few legal Travelly. Anyway after sunrise I carried on squiding and managed to catch a really small Squid, perfect size bait. About 10cm in total size. Well off came the yellow tail, free to live another day and out went the first squid. I left my friend to watch it and went off again in search of more squid. Well eventually I managed another small 10cm squid and went back to rig my other rod. Much to my belief, my fried says that the first squid is gone and that he didn’t see anything. So I put the 2nd squid on and cast it out. As it hits the water you can just see the black ink go everywhere. Now as per a previous post, the small squid really did not last too long..alive. It died pretty much on impact to the water. After a while the having the squid just suspended on the water column, I reel it back in only to find that all the tentacles have been eaten off but the head and body still attached. Not much else action. Well Proceeded to keep squiding and still managed a further 2 small squid. By this time the sun was up and well you could see a number of black fish and bream around. Well I decided to switch over to blackfish fishing,. It’s very frustrating that the fish are all holding right underneath the bridge and you just cant get them interested. I had burleyed lots of weed and bread but they just ignored it all. Well eventually we left and I released the two small squid in my bucket to live another day. Any info or techniques on rigging live squid would be appreciated. also is there anyone else out there that can perhaps show me how to catch the luderick constantly and I am starting to wonder if my first success was actually a fluke as all other attempts of late have been very poor on my part.
  18. Hi Guys, Here's a pic of the beautiful Southern I caught a few days ago. 35cm to the hood and caught on a 1.5g Squid jig in orange See my post a few days ago about the catch . PS! can I submitt this pic for catch of the month? Cheers Adrian
  19. Sorry for the long post. Had the Friday off last week and I was asked by a friend to go fish from some rock ledges. Let me say that it was rather quite nerve-racking as the waves were pretty huge on Friday. The weather was not too great and well I honestly didn’t think that the fishing was going to be great. Anyway I started off throwing some Squid jigs around and well I soon caught a small 15cm Southern. There were a lot of small bait fish around too. Things looked promising but then after that ……….nothing. Well after 1.5 hours we switched overt to some conventional fishing. Having no bait, we decided to cut up the live squid for bait. My friend used the squid strips and I decided on trying for some blackfish with the green weed I managed to gather. Well First cast and as the float drifts with the current, I get a solid down. I set the hook and the fish takes off. I must not have set the hook properly and off it went. After that nothing not even a single fish could be seen. The tide was beginning to come in rather high and much to my delight we decided to high tail it off the ledge. My friend caught a number of small rock-cod which we threw back. Yes he was using the Squid Bait. Anyway after travelling to a much more better location, Protected by the wind and waves. I decided to retry for squid as the time was about 8:30amand well I thought that I might as well give it a go again as there was a lot of Kelp and sand patches in this body of water before me. Well I cast out and in the distance I saw a huge shadow quickly move to where my lure hit the water. I slowly wound in my jig and could see the squid now attempting to strike my jig. It made about three attempts before I finally hooked up but after 2 quick pulls it was off. Surely after hooking into the squid I thought that it would have taken off but it came in closer to attack my jig again. The squid jig was suspended in the water and well I really was not doing much to it as I was just amazed at the size of the Squid. The squid now a little cautious came in and almost hit the lure again but then it must have seen me and shot straight back out into the depths. Well I through out the jig again and after 2-4 casts nothing. Well meanwhile my fried who was still persisting with his bait decided on throwing out the entire squid head that we caught earlier. As he wound it in the first time I could see his bait being wound in. He did this a number of times and well to my surprise I saw the same huge shadow behind his bait. I quickly told him to wind it in slowly. He then said that naw, it’s nothing big as he could feel the takes but did not connect with the fish or anything. I was wearing polarized glasses so could see what was happening and he wasn’t. Well I then asked him to stop reeling in the line and let the squid take the bait. You could see the squid attacking the bait and then letting go of it as it tried to pull it back towards it safer depths. So I quickly made a cast past the squid and wound it in, the jig was parallel to the squid now and it suddenly saw the jig and focused all it’s attention on the jig. I let the jig just sink, what seemed like an eternity, the squid finally attacked the lure. This time I let him pick up the jig and swim off with it. After seeing my line move, I then set the barbs and he was on. The battle was short but now that I had him hooked I thought, how on earth am I going to land him. My only change was to try and either wash her up onto a rock ledge. I attempted this but without success, she pulled now even harder an I could see that the jig was now becoming a bit loose from her constant backward lunges. I wish I had a net. So now, I’ve seen on TV how they pick up the squid and land them with their hands but let me say that this is a lot harder than what they lead you too believe. After 3 unsuccessful attempts the squid was still on but just barely as it was now only on by a tentacle. Finally my friend hands me the bucket and says try scooping it up the bucket. Well Knowing that you need to scoop it from behind and not from the front I try to angle the squid and at the same time not get washed by the waves. The squid is positioned almost at the right angle and I try and scoop it up only to have it quickly shoot backwards and away. Ok patient now and try again. This time I am successful as the intake of water flowing into the bucket helps me land MY PB squid. What a beautiful Squid. She measured 35cm to the hood exclusive of her head and tentacles. A definite personal best for me. High fives and a quick photo. Later that Morning at about 12:30 I found another spot that actually was holding a lot of cuttlefish. I actually prefer the taste of Cuttles than Squid. There were a lot of small cuttlefish which I returned quite a few because of being too small, about 10cm in size I did manage to also hook into some small southern calamari’s too. At one point I could see the 2 squid that were being really fussy in taking the jigs, they would often hit the jig on the side and carry it off but I just was not able to hook them. The water column was still very deep and they were on the surface. They hadn’t inked from my fishing so this meant that they stayed interested and after a number of attempts and changing my lure to a more fishy looking pattern one suddenly become more interested. Anyway with one squid still actively chasing my jig out of no where out comes a huge king fish, then another and another. One king almost took off with my squid jig but I quickly jigged it out of the water before he could swallow it. I quickly decided to put on a live cuttlefish. I dropped it in and the king fish just came up and then ignored it. In hind sight I should of put on the small live squid but they just did not take it. This is the second time that this has happened to me in that I had the fish interested but they did not take it. Question Do King fish eat Cuttle Fish or do they find the cuttle bit too hard to digest. Anyway not much after that as the spot now seemed to be totally barren of any Cuttles or Squid. I left after the low tide and can’t wait for my next outing.
  20. Hi there, Any chance of you sharing your spot for some whiting. I too am only fortunate to fish from land, which does mean that fishing is limited. Are you fishing on the Beach? Also do you catch/ collect your own beach worms? Kind Regards Squid_jig
  21. Went out Sunday morning for a rather disappointing return. Well the morning started off at 3am. I got down to my favourite wharf and Managed to only land 1 large arrow squid and drop 3 others…. Grrr… that was just so upsetting as that was all I managed in the next 2 hours. Anyway I then decided to head to manly and try my luck again with the only 1 arrow I had caught. I waited for first light and just as the sunrise came up I tossed in the live arrow. Well it took a whole 20 seconds and I could see that the arrow was trying to escape whatever was chasing it. The line was going all over the show. Anyway the float completely disappeared and my line began to peel off the spool, A couple more seconds and tighten. Up pops the float and no fish. What the….. reel in the line and well the arrow was no more except for a small part of the hood section . I rigged up using two hooks, one just behind the head of the arrow and the other in the end of the hood. How did that not managed to connect to anything…. Well After that it was pretty much quiet as there was nothing around. Water clarity was very poor. I then tried for some black fish and well I had one rather solid down and managed to land a 32cm Blackfish. In the live bag he went and I continued on for more blackfish with the other rod also baited up with the left over squid, suspended on a float. Well the sun was up and you could just make out the floats on the surface . So The rod with the squid float drifts slowly with the current and then suddenly there seems to be a lot of activity around the float. The float is just bobbing up and down which suggests little pickers but then a solid down the squid rod goes off again this time I strike and feel some solid weight… a few head shakes and well up comes the float….dam this was getting rather annoying. Anyway after that nothing seemed to want the left over squid. As for the Blackfish fishing well a couple of time while watching the squid rod I missed those solid downs which was also rather annoying. It seems that each time I held the squid rod the blackfish would take with solid downs but if I held the rod well nothing. By this time it was 8:30 and I decided to call it a morning… Having only landed the one Fish I decided that it was the fish’s lucky day.. I released it and went home. A rather disappointing result for all that effort but anyway still an enjoyable morning.

    Kingie

Heres a pic of the 67cm kingie caught on the weekend as per my last post. PS! So does anyone recon that i am being too optimisticv in wanting to land a kingie on a bream rod that has been riged with 6 kg Breaking strain line? I would like to know as I really don't wan't to keep loosing fish after fish. Cheers Squid_jig
  23. Well after a very successful day on the Wednesday I decided that I just had to go back and fish for those black-fish. Just making sure that it wasn’t a fluke. The initial plan though was for me to try to get some live squid and then head to Manly. Well let me say that when I arrived in the morning at 3am I quickly got 4 arrows in quick succession. The Issues I had was to try and keep them alive. Now not the best ever home made contraption,… I used an onion bag tied to my bucket and let the squid swim in there with it hanging over the edge. I normally put then in the bucket but I loose a lot of time changing water so anyway out of the 4 , two died still and the other two well survived the trip. By 5am I decided that well since no other action was to be had, I would gather up some weed. What I did not plan on was that the weed was very hard to come by. There was not very much around and well I thought that with what little I had, I would still give the blackfish a go… and since I still had my 2 live squid, I can only hope of those kingies. Anyway I setup the rod and well it was still rather dark and not wanting to kill the live squid yet I decided to put on one of the dead ones. First light just started to come up and I could see my float just bobbing around. Looking into the water it was clear but not a fish in site could be seen, then while I carried on Squidding I looked up and saw my float just go straight under. Now before I tell you what happened next, let me ask… Am I too adventurous with this outfit… I have two 7 foot fen-wick single piece rods which I normally used for bream, flathead and Australian salmon. The line is 6.5kg breaking strain, mono. Well let me say, after seeing the float disappear, I turned to the rod and just saw the line and rod go, thank goodness for lightening my drag. Now the run was just spectacular in that the fish just speed off with out stopping and also from my last few encounters with a live yakka usually I did not want to tighten up on the fish until it actually had got the whole squid down its mouth so I just hung on a little. Now the water was just so calm and all you could hear was my screaming drag….. Well I then decided to load the rod and set the hook in …This just made the fish angrier and well let’s say that my line was now beginning to disappear a very quick rate. So I did the next best thing, tighten the drag. As soon as this happened the line started almost to slow down but you could hear that high pitch sound of your line starting to stretch…. Well you guessed it I was just about to untighten the drag when pop goes the line. Man I was in just shock and misbelieve that whatever it was, was so powerful. Anyway I quickly rebaited the other dead Squid and threw it as soon as I looked up to see the float it had gone under but the line was not moving, hey was the squid too heavy for the float I was using.. I was using these pencil floats. Anyway I decided to wind in the line a little and then all hell broke loose. The hook I am sure was set and the fish just took off. The same thing almost happened but within 5 seconds as soon as I tried to tighten up and turn the fish, yip line just parted. Now the little diawa reel I have has about 200m of line, Well Lets just say that I now know that two fish are swimming around with long lines in their mouths attached to a float. Hmm I do feel for these fish and well hope that they do survive…. Does anyone know what the survival rate is for fish with 2 hooks in their mouths, line trailing behind and a float would be? So looking at my reel with very little line on it . Decide to use a hand line (string) that I had in my bad… I was given this by a friend a long time ago and still laughed at it because what was I going to catch with this. The breaking strain was 12kg and was .50mm in diameter. I rigged up the live squid with a crappy round float. I could not loose another pencil float.. And made an attempt to throw out the live squid. Well doing this by hand does involve some skill and well because I hadn’t peeled enough line from the roll well the squid did not go very far. So while I began to strip more line off the roll I saw the squid still swimming under the surface. It was completely terrified as the next thing I saw was a school of kingies all racing towards the squid. Literally there were about 5 fish just staring at the squid then one of then launched forwards engulfed the squid. The squid were not small but I could see this fish in front of me almost chewing the squid and then realizing that something was wrong. It took off and thank goodness I had stripped off more line from the roll. The line quickly disappeared and I began to fight the fish. Now I know that this some might frown upon this form if fishing and that some might say that fishing actually involves you playing the fish from a rod and proper reel but hey this is all I could do to at least stand a chance at catching these kingies. Well the battle was very short as I know that the fish had no real chance unless he managed to get me around some sort of structure. I finally got him on shore and was over the moon. Well next thing I measured him and well it was 67cm. I was over the moon. I quickly put on the 4th squid on, also alive and well the same thing happened. Well being just so sure that I had the fish in the bag, I really regret rushing things…. The fish made a final dash just before the shore and my line just parted and yip with the float. It definitely looked like a big ger fish. Anway you could see the fish was heading in one direction as my float just then went under out to see. So the time was now 7:30 and since no more squid.. Well I thought that I might as well try for those black fish…. Well after missing countless downs and hooking into 3 fish. All were list while almost lifting them p off the water. The line did not break but the hooks just pulled loose. Oh well, it was none the less a great morning and the fresh sashimi king fish was fantastic. I will be eating that kingfish in 3 separate dinners this week.  Well hope you enjoyed the read. Also can anyone tell me what breaking strain line does one need to catch these fish of this size and weather or not I can actually still use my bream rod and reel and just put the thicker line on it. cheers Squid_Jig
  24. Opps! forgot to say , Thanks Chris... not too sure if you are a rish raider and well Here is my first pic of my blackfish.
  25. Went out to Manly and decided to target some fish… The day started off rather frustrating as the initial plan was to get some livies, then target the king fish that I know always appear while trying to get the livies. Needless to say the yellowtail / squid did not respond to any offerings as neither were around. And well after being teased by two schools of kingfish I guess it was just not supposed to be. I had a fresh squid head from last week out but the king fish weren’t interested and also tried the lure thing… For a brief moment one kingie did stop to have a look but decided to carry on and catch up with his other mates. Anyway everything was pretty much dead quiet and while looking into the water I could see large schools of blackfish all feeding off the bottom. Now I know in the past that nothing would really entice those dam blackies so after remembering all those other post in the past on the raider site about targeting those elusive fish, I decided to go foraging for some weed. So off I went in search for some weed. Well it didn’t take me very long as I had managed to find some in some semi-dried up pools. I am sure that some people nearby must have been thinking what I was doing because I looked like a big kid playing in dirt almost running back to my rods with two hands full of sand and Weed. So now I have this ball of weed, I decided to setup the rod with a basic float and a single hook wrapped with the weed first cast out and the float drifts slowly past me not even a metre in front of me and I see this beautiful Fish come up to see my offering…. Well I was so amazed at the fish, I didn’t realise that he was actually eating the weed. So quick rebait with weed and do the same drift again this time remembering to take notice of the float rather than the fish. So as you guessed it … up comes Mr Fish again and this time the float is bobbing away and I set the hook. Yay my first ever –black fish. I played the fish… I was using a rather light outfit and well I thought that the fish might have given me more of a fight but needless to say that once I had him on the surface, he did not give me any trouble. Fish weighed in at 1.2kg, Beautiful fish. Well this carried on for an hour still with the float constantly going down but me only being able to convert into one more fish. Also I did lose a lot of fish in the initial hook up. One of the hook-ups resulted in me actually hooking into one of those parasites that live inside the mouths of some fish. The parasite was about 4.5cm and the hook had actually gone right through it’s back. I presume that the fish had my offering and was eating the weed and my hook actually going into the parasite rather than his mouth… resulting in an ugly parasite from the fish for my efforts. Well at least that fish is rid of it for a while. The rest of the day was rather very quiet with some occasional downs which I still missed. Then Just as I was deciding to pack it in and call it a day, a fellow called Chris came by we started talking. He seemed very clued up on black fish fishing. Well needless to say he convinced me to trying for one last 30 minutes which did result in an extra 45 minutes but not to his fault; I pulled the hook on one other nice fish and also missed numerous takes. Chris was also only down to have a quick look at what was around but had then decided that before he leaves, he would make sure that I have one more fish in my bag. So after a number of tries and I am sure much to Chris’s frustration he finally got me into a fish which he quickly hand landed for me. Just in case I dropped it again hahaha.
