  1. hi elf, i have fish that ledge many times and had many good captures there from bonnies to kings to even tuna. great fun to get a graphite/carbon rod about 8ft will do and fit a good 3000 size reel to it with nice braid... go with what you could stretch your budget as i do believe you get the performance and value for your money. it does not have to be the bees knees but would be nice though?? anyway reason for carbon/graphite is that you will find they are light enough to cast for long periods and the distance due to the way the rod flexes and then return to its natural state stops the line from slapping against the blank and increases distance. also the spool design allows line to flow out easily, gain reduces friction and increase distance. i find that pelagics there will take lures willingly so i carry a few all the time. i find i outcast most of them guys there each time with that setup and get my 1-2 fish to keep and then catch and release or give them away... very satisfying and fun on such light setups... just my 20cents.
  2. wow good stuff mate! seems like that seafarer has some real mojo with regards to kingies! i remembered that last year, my old man and a few of us were fishing off eden with it alongside my hydrofield and it was getting all the action (we were side by side about 10m apart)! my old man is getting on in age and had to downgrade and seems like she has found a happy home! well done mate! LB
  3. hi slinky i need one of my abu 5600c3 serviced as well! i have pulled it out and replaced carbontext drag washers etc but i cant seem to get the casting distance i used to... i have removed excess grease etc but it is still not as good as when i first had it. the drag is way better but thats about it! i love these little things that casts for miles but it needs a good service... can you pm me John's details? thanks
  4. Hi Huey, yeah it is a counter rotation motor.
  5. hi Huey, i have a 21inch pitch on it at the moment and can only get 4500RPM.... thats why i want to go smaller pitch.
  6. hi all, would a 15inch and 19 pitch prop suit a 150hp counter rotation yammy engine? LB
  7. Hi all, does anyone know approximately how much it cost to transport a webster twin fisher from nowra to melbourne? its a 4m boat with trailer. thanks.
  8. i tried it on the megabass jade python orochi and found that it is a big over sized so onto a saltiga allrounder 70s it went and it felt like a perfect match. i would have preferred the m-over 80s saltiga but could not get my hands on one. anyway, it will be fun on pelagics and some oversized snappers.
  9. hi gregL the snappers im chasing in port phillip bay in melbourne i use whiting gear for the fun of it. i have been catching them up to 4kg on a shimano xt50 and a 2-4kg rod with 6lb braid. i so far have landed them all and hope not to get spooled by the massive 10kg plus that frequent PPB. so, at the moment we are fortunate enough to get many fish from 2-6kg as its in season. as soon as i get spooled then i would upgrade to an exist 2508 with 10lb braid. with regards to the branzino i was thinking on using them on pelagics such as kingies, bonnies, strippies etc off the coast of eden/merimbula. i know it is kinda light but i light to have a bit of fun and dont mind getting busted as i would go up in size if i do. i have not used the ian miller stuff before so i dont know what they are like but i have already ordered the megabass.... i will see how i go with it. lb
  10. i think i have found one! its a MEGABASS orochi jade python F3 1/2 rated at 5-16lb. i cant wait now!
  11. Hi Huey, why would the wing nuts cause problems with the rectifier in the motor? what does it do? LB
  12. Hey everyone! just wondering what ppl match their branzino 3000 reel with (excluding the morethan branzino rods)? i was thinking a saltiga dorado allrounder 70S. im thinking of running 15-20lb varivas braid.
  13. no wonder why i cant see it either?
  14. hey ceph, thanks for the insight into that. i am now really looking forward into receiving this rod once it gets here. i will use the saltiga surf rod for "my" comparison bn them and the st. croix surf legend. thanks.
  15. Hey all, has anyone here used one of these? either the legend elite or the legend surf... what are they like? there seems to be really good reviews and marketting but i have never come across one so i dont know what they are like. i am intending on getting the legend surf casting rod which costs more than a saltiga ballistic! i wonder what they are like? thanks guys
  16. Hi, i bought and used one last year and found them to be very good! a little stiff but that's expected as the rating is 15-30lb. it casts really nicely and when hook up to say a decent 3 kg salmon, it would really give the salmon a hard time! i found that the salmon had no chance lol. it would probably show its tru potential if hooked onto a big mulloway or shark of some sort. in short, 11' is plenty and casts with no problem! very light stick for a surf rod and very powerful. i would think a twin power 6000 is more suit as the 4000 is a bit small. hope that help.
  17. hi everyone, would someone be able to point me in the right direction before i take the boat to the mechanic please? the problem is: i have dual battery setup where i forgot to isolate the power and left it sitting around for a few months hence draining and killing my batteries. i since have replaced 2 new batteries and reconnected all the wires again. everything else seems to power up ok but i am not getting any power to the motor. even the control and guage shows nothing... is there some sort of fuse or something similar that i should look at? i have replaced the dual switch with a brand new switch as well as replacing some corroded cables. all cables are in good condition now and as mentioned, all other onboard instruments are working fine, just no power to the motor. Thanks LB
  18. i think you are referring to something like mine:)
  19. sorry for the further confusion but i didnt say daiwa uses a hastings usa blank. i was just saying that daiwa's rod is quite pricey and if they were that costly, then how would they compare to the GUSA blanks. i mean, its cool to look good but when it comes time to perform, looking good isnt gonna get you the results! LB
  20. sorry guys, did not mean to confuse anyone but what i meant was three different blanks. say that they are the same class and yet one is about 30% more in cost. ok, that does not matter too much as they are all quite expensive anyway. so the question is.... which one is superior and in which way? could the morethan branzino be on par at a lesser price due to being mass produced? thanks
  21. hi all, i dont know if there is any diffrence in hastings and graphite usa? can anyone tell me if there is then what is it? then what's the difference comparing to the daiwa's blank? say daiwa is priced at a certain amount and the other is about 30% more in price, is it worth it? thanks. LB
  22. Hi, Does anyone know where i can get one of these for as cheap as possible? thanks.
  23. hi guys, i am in the market to fit an electric anchor as well as the back is not liking the 15kg anchor and chain, especially on choppy days. i had a look at the stress free and muir and they both come in drums which is what i need. my boat is a 6.1m plate boat and with 3-4 people fishing and accessories would be about 1300kg on the water (guess). the muir DW08 and stress free mini looks good. what are your thoughts please? LB
  24. Guys, i have had 4 pressed aluminium to date and just had a look at a 2nd hand 6.1 plate boat from www.dolphinboats.com.au the plate boat looks the goods, just wondering if anyone know much or has experience with these? thanks
  25. Hi All, What are the key differences between plate and pressed aluminium boats? thanks
