  1. Played Diablo 3 and finished insane mode I think that's the hardest in 3weeks..... Because of the auction house they stuffed the game up, Diablo 2 is way better. Everyone's buying their items. So gave up on it. Blizzard lost a lot of people because of that. So all hard hours gone down the drain :(

  2. I think stick to the fish frames... Or get those pouches and put 5 or 6 cut up pillies in them... Works for us.

I wouldnt recommend using a chemical filled soap... Im imagining the Crabs would taste all soapy...

That's what I was thinking lol

  3. As I mentioned in the video, thats whats been blown across the flats or lake... pitty it was so cloudy underwater footage was so murky you couldnt see the big plumes of it at the end of the point but its around.

On the map, chittaway point is like a giant arrow pointing almost at the entrance... if it blows across the lake from anywhere but westerly its usually going to get caught on the flats at the point. Also my pictures with my weedless rigged sp's bringing up that much weed cast after cast.

Its just a quickly thrown together video at 6:30 so people can at least identify the stuff , wasnt going to go snorkeling or waist deep looking for the big blankets of red haha..

Sorry Qnut if I sounded really rude.....

You went through a lot of trouble getting that footage. Thank heaps for putting the video up for us to see, specially me :)

  4. thank god you quoted my post... I accidentally deleted it :\ Here is promised crappy thrown together video...

Yes it has grown or atleast shifted with the winds... I went to the mouth of wyong river on sat and encountered it there... also another raider said he has seen it SPing around tuggerahwong... so I have updated the map to represent.

Great vid, hmmm doesn't seem that bad or is it?

  5. ahhh so many posts to reply to

What can the council practically do? Not alot im afraid, This stuff sinks unlike your typical algal bloom (see: blue green) that would mean the only fesible method of mass removing it would be dredging... Now take into account the huge areas were talking about that cost would be huge - and where do you put the contaminated sand? ALSO if they were to emegency dredge it would literally destroy all the natural weedbeds undeneath the algae. Some say open the channel, whilst this would be the best *LONG TERM* option, I've overheard conversations last winter blackfishing with the locals down on the entrance wall about the bridges ability to withstand full tidal flow without 'river footings' underneath each pylon. (they were never installed when the bridge was constructed to save money or something like that) , so that too is out of the question.

I have been praised & verbally abused for hailing boats over to advise them, unfortunatley the abusive ones were cleaning the algae off their crab pots and throwing them into ourimbah creek on their way presumably back to the boat ramp. Which boils my blood as ive been telling the local yakking fraternity just how far down the creek they need to be 'safe' from the bloom whilst ididots are just chucking it over the side speeding up its progress further & further down ourimbah creek.

I checked wyong river mouth and its the same story - red washups along the weed banks.

Went out this morning for a flick and film so I can throw together a boring video for you guys.

EDIT: No Bream Updated map to for Wyong & This mornings Trip

*SO FAR: couple mates have prawned under and east of the bridge for decent hauls and no ill effects from consuming or any algae running out withe the tide*

    <Reserved For Video>

    Video uploading now

Wow your map indicates that the algae has covered more grounds....... Scary......

  6. Mate seriously your a pro

I once hooked a salmon and I got done, had no chance at all, just kept running....... I was using 2lb as well...... Takes a lot of skills.......

That was last week.... My heart was pumping so hard it wasn't funny..... After I lost it...... I was swearing my head off.......

Pretty sure even now you can tell how frustrated I am lol

Usually I never post on fishing report but I know how you felt when you got that on a 2lb

  7. Aye I know it was in the paper, however if maritime or the fisheries know of it surely there should be signage at boat ramps. If they are aware of a small issue then it's not important, however a large scale issue is something to worry about if they don't know how large it is. I think what I was getting at is "the more people who report it, the more will get done"

If this is a really big problem for the area then it should be made more public.

I think your right, they are waiting for everyone to start complaining, because they don't wanna spend the money. Till we create this situation into something big of an issue nothing's going to happen but the question is what is big enough for the council to start doing something about it?

  8. Silly question... Has anyone reported this to anyone?

If you have a look at Qnut's first post was on newspaper as well but not much as been done enough and now apparently the algae is on the surface as well. So obviously the council knows about it but nothing done much about it

  9. as far as I know, east is the bridge is fine esp on an incomming tide. West of the bridge weedbeds in the entrance main channel towards pelican island and the weedbeds there abouts have it.

I cant comment on budgiwoi and canton areas, Im assuming the afternoon noreasters may be blowing some of it off the flats in a south west direction (the map I posted is ^ North)... I havent had time to travel around dragging broken old blades & vibes on the bottom to check whether its present all around the lake.

    Thank you for the info

Good on you for helping everyone

  10. Hey Raiders,

Ok, firstly I better lay some background to who I am, and my solution to this very challenging real issue!

My name is Chris, I Loooooooooove fishing, and have done for the best part of 30 years.

I seriously go fishing as much as I can, which with a 9-5, 5 days a week job, Church on Sunday, really only leaves one day a week to go...Saturdays!

I am married, with a young one on the way, so things could possibly become even more challenging for me!

As I've said, Saturdays are my "fishing window", and if there is something else on, its a no go for me.

My wife is very good, she understands these constraints, and doesn't put too much pressure on me to be around on Saturdays.

The current understanding we have (which I'm sure you'll see is very generous on her part) is:

I fish 2 Saturdays out of every month unhindered by time constraints.

Another Saturday I fish, but am home in time for dinner and a night in or out.

Another Saturday I don't fish, and have the weekend at home, with my Wife.

That is a pretty good arrangement, for me, however...

The thing is as a Christian, a married man, someone who looooooooves fishing, who only gets limited time to go fishing, its all about being a man, a man of integrity, as Donna so rightly pointed out.

Our job as men is simple...Love our Woman!

As much as us men cannot fathom, the Women in our lives NEED our Love, which most likely equals time spent with us.

Whether that is to simply sit around at home, walk around the shops, maybe even get to go fishing together (which does happen!), the simple solution to this real issue which can shake the foundations of our relationships, is to simply to give her what she needs, love, her desire to spend time with you.

Love & Respect is the key!

I'll say it again, Love & Respect is the key!

If we as men love our wives unconditionally, she will respect us unconditionally, and will want to fulfil our needs, which as fisho's, time on the water will be high up on the list!

This is not a "I'll give this to get back scenario".

This is a give out of unconditional love, to which the natural response, is unconditional respect and ultimately it is a win win!

The thing we all need to understand is, Women are designed to receive love, and Men are designed to receive respect.

Women need love, and Men need respect.

Ask yourself, Man or Woman, and I think you'll find its true.

So the moral of all this is simple...

Men love your Woman, and she will give you the respect you deserve, without you even asking.

Women respect your Man, and he will keep giving you the Love you deserve, without you even asking.

Not because we feel obligated too, but because Loving our Women & Respecting our Men is how we have been created to be!

I can honestly say, myself, who couldn't bear the thought of a week without being on the water, has actually overcome those issues, and can say that I now happily spend time at home, with my Wife.

Happy in the knowledge that I am loving her, and giving her what she needs.

Whilst these principals will come naturally the more we practice them, it can be very challenging at first.

Trust me when I say, we've had our fair share of teething problems.

The good news is, the more you give this way of life a chance, you'll be amazed at how much it pours into your relationship.

You both will have your needs fulfilled, and ultimately, you reach a place where fishing, happiness in life through all things will come everyday.

Needless to say, your needs to be fishing will be met, among others, and you will have a richer relationship which can only be good!

Also, learning to tie your own flies or even making your own soft plastic/hard body lures is a great way to fill in "those times" when your not on the water!

I hope these insights help, and ultimately make life for the "fishing family" a happy place for all to be!

Thank you for sharing it with us, so true.

Feels like I just read a chapter from a bible
