  1. my brother and i have the older TPS and SPS models, they were awesome rods.. very light and fast tapered. also have a fly rod that casts well not that i have a clue on casting well.. i feel though that the older models that i mentioned are much better than the current range they have..
  2. cant remember exactly i think it was 30lb. cant wait to give it a real go on the fin when i get back to aus.. what were you planning on targeting with it? and on what rod?
  3. ive got the 4000hyper... its a an awesome reel. though i think i bought it mainly for the looks than anything else.. i havnt gotten the chance to use it much yet as im overseas but for light jigging it shoudnt be a problem.. though in my opinion the best all rounder lightish reel for jigging in and around sydney would be an 8000 stella... ohh and the hyper fit 300m of braid on the spool when i spooled it i think...
  4. mate go the starlostix tournament.. ive got 1 and use it with a 3000 stella or 2500certate rcustom.. ive got other more expensive rods but the starlostix feels great.. and cheap as well...
  5. mate thats an awesome effort... pics look great, if i wasnt in korea at the moment i would have asked to tag along.. not sure if i would make it back alive though haha cant wait to see your next report.
  6. I have a 5pc nitro magnum butt which ive got matched up to a 4000 stella.. I reckon thats a great allround combo, enough grunt to tackle 'biggish' fish but light enough to fish for trevs and the like if i had to.. If I was only able to have 1 combo then it's the 1 I'd pick..
  7. If you look around you should be able to find a stella 1000fb landed in Aus.. I got mine for 450 from a sydney tackle shop so take a look around... Only problem with it is the drag is damn quiet.. Other reels to look at within that price range that i would look t would be certates or luvias'
  8. I use a stella 3000 most of the time or certate 2500 rcustom and find that usually enough stop most of the fish i hook in the harbour or the bay.. If I'm going after something bigger i use my 4000 hyper custom certate, so pretty lol I feel you dont need anything bigger than this when your in and around sydney, anything more and i feel it over kill...
  9. You can check out his website... he's got most of the clips on there... CRAZY!!!!!!!!!! the website is http://www.theultimatefishingshow.com/ enjoy =)
  10. good luck on 20lb stewy... i was using a 12kg stick with a cerate 4000 hyper custom and was absolutely outgunned... rod was bending over so far when i got busted the rod flicked up and hit me hard in the face hahhaha then i started using a 15kg stick with my 8000 stella with 50lb braid and still couldnt stop the bigger 1s... gamakatsu make an awesome hook, nice and small but VERY strong heavy gauge hook... good luck guys... u'll need it lol

nice feed there mate, 5 rods off is alot to handle at once lol
  12. yeah i think that would be a very good idea.. afew manufacturers make rods now that are purposely made for yaks with a place to clip a lanyard... will have a look into this, hopefully it wont ever be needed lol my certate 2500R came today so will have to look into another rod...
  13. ive just recently started using the linesystem bass hard braided pe line and i dont think im ever going to go back to fireline anymore... it the best ive used... for a cheaper line though i was using stren microfuse which was pretty good.. nothing special.. but basshard is the best by far i reckon
  14. lol HAHAHAHAHAH that cartoon is too funny... thanks inhlanzi i think thats going to be my new avatar!!!! but again thankyou 2 everyone for your concern, my wallet phone and keys were in a ziplock bag but i never thought of having it attatched to the yak... il make sure i do next time, great ideas. zenman ive laso been in a few car and motorcycle accidents but i think this 1 freaked me out a little more because i cherish my gear more than most things and the thought of losing it was horrible lol thats why i had to come back and try and find it! im thinking about upgrading to a hobbiecraft... those things seem awesome and a few rod holders... give me another reason to justify me going out and buying that daiwa steez kingbolt to suit my certate r custom ive got ordered!!! hehehe but seriously does anyone have any experience with the hobbies? they seem cool.......... i was waiting for you to reply mr magoo, i was in at kyeemah bait n takle this arvo 4 a few hours just talking to gu and as soon as i walked through the door he knew what had happened and said he tried to call me but my phone was dead lol im guessing you had a talk with him? nice bloke... thanks again mate
  15. im a strong swimmer.. i only struggled with the yak because i was trying to drag it with me to the bouy and i stayed under a little too long when i went after my stella lol but thanks for the concern though, will be much more careful next time and close that hatch........
  16. firstly i want to say thankyou to mr magoo for saving my ass out on the water on saturday morning, i wish there was some way to thankyou.... it all started on sat morning when my friend called me up 4 a fish on our yaks, he came over at about 5 and it was raining so i told him we will wait till sunrise and see what the weather is like then. at sunrise the rain stopped so we loaded the yaks into the van and headed off to kurnell to launch and fish the hotwater outlet.. we fished for a while and after my 10th fish i decided id had enough and said we should head home... i was anchored up n water was coming in from the back.. i had my rear hatch open and didnt realise that water was being washed in while i fished.. when i tried to pull the anchor up it was stuck so i tried 2 pull harder and the rear of the yak dipped into a swell and the water rushed into the hatch and i started to sink. i tipped over and lost my tackle box, my new stella which just got new linesystem line(i think its bad luck after only using it a few times its been covered in oil last week and then this....), my heartlandz midge rod, my net, wallet, phone, keys, and my paddle..... is it me or does it seem like stellas love falling into the water?!?! its happened to others as well if i can remember right. tried to scream out for help but my friend couldnt hear me so i try and tread water holding onto my sinking kayak and try and drag/swim to the bouy at next to the fish farm... after a long struggle i was able to grab the bouy and scream out for help again... mr magoo boat heard my screams for help and rushed over to pull my kayak and myself into his boat and bring me to shore so again a big thank you to you and your old man.. since i lost my keys i couldnt get back into my car so i had to borrow a phone from the guy living accross the street so if your watching thankyou to you too.... i called my brother and he brought me a set of keys to the van so i could get home. once home i loaded the boat with my snorkel set and another friend and i headed off to try and get my gear back but it was too rough and we turned around after afew hundred metres from the boat ramp... this morning before work my brother and i set out again to try and salvage some of my gear.. we launched at kurnell boat ramp and made our way over to the fish farm... it was abit choppy and windy and things didnt look good but we stripped down and jumped in anyway.. the water was cold at 1st but got warmer as we moved around... saw something shiny at the bottom n thought it might be the stella.. the water was 16ft according to the sounder and i thought it was gonna be pretty hard to get to the bottom.. i dived down anyway and the pressure down there was killing my ears but i caught a glimse of my reel and kept kicking... grabbed the rod/reel and saw my box of jighead and lures so grabbed that as well... on the way up i thought i was going to drown and was about to take a lungfull of air but just managed to get to the surface in time.. i saw my net but i didnt think id last another dive down so i told my bro to hand me a metal lure with a treble and i will try and drop it onto the net.. we did and it worked he reeled it in... YES!!! i was stoked!!!! i got my rod back!!! i was so happy cause the reel i can get another but daiwa dont make the midge rod anymore so i wouldnt be able to replace my fav rod... we left after that because i had to head for work, the reel seemed to work fine but im going to have shimano look at it just in case. ive learnt my lesson, il always make sure my hatch is on before i head off... but thankyou again to everyone that helped me out
  17. yeah the oil was pretty bad... went all over my guides and reel and line fished elsewhere today for a few flatties n trevors i tried out the bass hard braid and now i dont think im gonna use aneything else its that good..... hopefully the oil has been cleaned up i want to go for a fish there tommorow morning but scared of ruining my new braid lol costs to much to have to replace each time i fish has anyone gone over to the hotwater outlet since yesterday? whats it like?
  18. my mate tony and i took our kayaks to the hot water outlet this morning. got to kurnell at about 5.15am and launched the yaks, we were having a little comp to see who would be buying dinner so full concentration was needed lol i caught 4 trevally and lost about 6 right at the yak i left my net in the van because someone else forgot theirs and i had to make it fair by not using 1 either!!! 1 of the lost trevally mustve been atleast 50cm... his 1st run had me thinking it was a rat king. alot of fun on light gear(was using my little 1kg midge rod and new stella1000) tony ended up with 5 before we had to leave at 7 would have stayed longer but all of a sudden an oil slick covered the water and we cast into it before we realised it was there... i got oil all over my line and it went all over my new stella(only used like 3 or 4 times) was sooo angry... quickly rushed home so we could clean up our reels i ended up taking my line off cos the oil was sooo thick was trying out stren microfuse but now gonna try out basshard pe.. has any1 tried this line? looks the good but it cost enough lol all fish was caught on plastics did any 1 else fish near there today? i hope that oil is cleaned up, the place just reeked of oil
  19. thanks mate, will do. il talk to my brother and will call you in the not to distant future..
  20. im sorry, but im not sure how to pm yet and wanted to find out a few things... my brother and i have a 6m quinnie freedomsport with a '02 yammie 115 4-stroke and was wondering on servicing prices and if if anyone does mobile servicing. we also just recently bought a 4.2m boston whaler with a mid '90s 50 yammie 2-stroke and was wondering about servicing that as well. We do want to upgrade the motor to a 60 e-tec or a 50 yammie 4-stroke engine for the whaler and was wondering about pricing or thoughts on which would be the better motor.. i want the e-tec but my brother wants the yammie............. we bought the boat from interstate(QLD) without a hull ID number and was wondering if you(huey) can help us with the problem of getting it all up and running... anythoughts much appreciated
