  3. Hey mate you fish the nepean much? land based or boatie? ive been giving it ago lately with no real big success.
  4. Has anyone been having much luck on the nepean with lures? Have been on a few outings of late in the tinnie, with out much success. I have heard of some success up stream, yet to head up that way though. have caught a few real smallbass down stream. cheerz.
  5. The problem you face when going up in line class is ability to detect bites. There come a point where you have to make a compramise. 15lb has plenty of pull and lift and enough sensativity. My old man has caught a giant pig on this line and a sturdy 12ft rod. The line was pioneer mono. Mabye a change of location or rod length?
  6. I understand your circumstances, but really teloscopic rods are not the way to go. They are really bad. I really dont think a two piece rod would be a problem in your MR2. Just sit it base down on the passenger floor and even just hang the small portion out a crack in thw window.
  7. Surface lures work well at low light periods early morning and afternoon till dusk, also at night with full or close to full moon. I favour black surface lures. I once read taht the light provided by the moon dose something with the reflection off the water which makes a black lure really stand out. Rattaling lipless crankbaits are also very effective when working steep banks. If you are thinking of using them aroudn the trees they are easily snagged. Althought there are alot of cheaper alternatives than Jackall's. I love spinnerbaits! The heavier weights to allow them to sink deeper quicker. Not to light weight as it takes to long to sink down to desired depth. They give plent of flash of the blades and virbrations and are virtualy weedless and hard to snag. I like Atomic 3" bass Grubs, in pumpkinseed (a very popular colour lately). I use 1/8Oz 1/0 jig heads in shallow water but for deeper lake situations mabye go up a weight or 2. You cant go past a good landing net mick. Those big enviro nets are great for catch and release! shop around though cause the shimano ones are really expensive. I think my one is a shakespeare. Way cheaper then shimano and pretty good quality. I might also add, long leaders are a good option something like 2m mabye even longer. Flurocarbon or mono. 12lb - 20lb. Berkely also puts out 30lb snap clips which are really really small. These are great on changing divers and other lures, but plactics and other small lures these clips can take away a bit of the lures action.
  8. Whats your favourite bass plactic/jighead and weight. Also hardbody and or spinnerbait.

    New From Shimano

NICE!!!!!!!!!!! i want a combo! they look soooo cool!
  10. I still havent been able to come across 9" sluggo's. I use 6" in the silver/white colour riged with a weighted worm hook, for deep water jigging. You can use unweighted stick baits with worm hooks on the surface at times to.
  11. G-day mate, i also havent heard and feedback on slamon in broken bay. But they are certainly in sydney harbour. If a school is busting up small metals are the way to go. Sometimes they are really finikie. Where big soft platstics wont be accepted. You have to 'match the hatch'. Match the size of lure to the bait the slamon are feeding on. When they arnt opn the surface trolling the headlands with a spread of divers, skirts and a soft plastic stick bait is the way to go.

    Bass

This weekend ended up with two very very happy anglars. My mate and i had gone to secret loaction to chase some freshwater species whatever they may be. Loaded with bait (worms, bread and corn) we managed a pair of herring on bread under a float. One such cast Upon landing of the float, it rockets down. We call it for a nice mullet. To our surprise a nice average healthy Bass. After this tactics were changed as we were not expecting the Bass to be on this early in the season. With the water still fairly cold. After we riged on our lures. Between the two of us we landed about 20 Bass!!! This hot bite ended, but we would return again tomorrow! The next day the Bass were coming in thick and fast! They were revenous! taking divers, spinnerbaits, surface lures, plastics. The Bass were coming in thick and fast! With almost every cast being smashed by a bass! We experimented with different lure types different lure sizes, the bass did not mind. Riged on the biggest spinnerbait in hope of a real big girl and pulled out he bigger diver. No fish of a life time however about 50 Bass landed in this session! The fish ranged from about 10cm - 44cm. Sorry no pics only on crappy camera phones. All smiles! The Bass are on!
