  1. Hi All I am in the process of a total rebuild of my Volero 16ft half cab. I had bought the boat 2 years ago and i knew after a year there was a problem with the flooring. After several outings the floor started to creek and get soft so i am now left with the task of redoing the floor and while i am at it a total rebuild. I am not experienced with the reflooring part so any comments are welcome. Below is a few pics of the progress so far..

  5. --> QUOTE(Dave B @ Mar 21 2009, 11:12 AM) 295167[/snapback] Search buoyancy foam and you will pull up plenty of info and suppliers-I would get the approved close cell foam if I was doing a major job like this.As for ply, marine is the best but quality exterior-no voids visible from the edges-is OK.In any case,it will last indefinitely if you seal it in a couple of coats of epoxy-WEST system.Boatcote and System 3 are all good brands-it's important to really saturate the end grain as this is where water gets in easiest. The top surface must be painted or carpeted as epoxy degrades rapidly under UV exposure.Heaps of good stuff about epoxy here: http://www.westsystem.com/ss/ HTH, Dave. That web site is very helpful cheers again
  6. Hi all I am currently rebuilding my boat and the first cab off the rank is the floor. On inspection of the floor it has no ply underneath the 2 layers of fibre glass.the bottom layer of fibre glass has hole saw like cuts where i think the floor has been pumped with expander foam type boyancy material. I have talked to an older gent from mister ply and wood who has been building boats for many years inwhich he has said if the foam is wet pull it all out as it will not help the new floor that i will be putting in..He said to me i know you will think this is strange but what i suggest is to fill the boat with as many 2LTR platic bottles as you can as when they get wet they will dry very quickly and help keep boyancy. He also suggested using Fujian exterior cedar. This to me makes sense but has any one ever heard of doing this and what else can any one reccommend for using.

  9. Hi All We went out last saturday morning fished for some livies got quite a few squid and yakkas.Threw out a yakka and watched it being chased and 30 seconds later i was on. I know it not quite a kingy but this thing could fight.Fought it for a few minutes and boated a 83cm monster. We went out to one of the favoured spots for kings and picked up 2 rats one of which was my mates first ever and he was stoked.

  15. Hi All Sorry for the late post..Went to the harbour last Saturday morning at sparrows fart.Set out to do some squiding but only got a few.I decieded to drop a line and fish whilst we we trying for bait.Dropped a full squid out unweighted turned to get a smoke and bang my overhead went off.It was a great fight for around 5 minsgot it in the boat wooohooo and it measured in at around 73cm..great start to the morning. Deceided to go out for a troll as it was just breaking morning and my bro boated a 70cm Salmon on light geat. Not much was diong with the troll so we went to a favourite spot to drift for some kingies. My mate peeled a shitty prawn on a shitty rig threw it out and 2mins later he was on ...He fought it for a few minutes as he was on really light gear and boated a 65cm king.A few minutes later my brother was on and brought in a decent 48cm Flatty. I rigged up the over head with a full squid and dropped out and within 5 minutes zzzzzzzzz i was on.I fought this monster for around 20mins after the fifth minute i was ready to cut the line as it had tired me out.My brother found my gymble and attached it to my which made the world of difference..I had no idea of what this beast was but i know for ever meter i was retreiving he was taking 10.I finally got it to the surface and it was a shark around 1.8-1.9m long.A little dissapointed we let it go but to date it had been the best fight of my life. My King Mates King Brothers nice Flatty My Shark
  16. Hi all Went out Robo early saturday morning god knows why .Tried a few spots to no avail, Went out for a troll with no results so we deceided to anchor for a while.Sat for fifteen minutes or so with a livie on the rod and i started to get a little restles and bored so the call was to go on the troll again. I wound my bait to the surface like a mad man to try to loose it when all of a sudden i saw a flash go past the bait so i put the reel in free spool and fed the yakka back down slowly and actually saw the whole thing get smashed. It was a good fight for a few minutes and when it came to the surface wooohooo a small kingy..Rob had his rod in the holder talking to his better half when i saw out of the corner of my eye the tip almost touching the water..It put up a great fight for a few minutes and again another king..
  17. Bloody good effort pal thats what we all go out ther for hope to get some of that action early saturday morning...Again top effort good to see but leave me one please

  19. Hi Raiders My bro and best mate and i hit the water around five Saturday morning at Tunks Park we headed out to the Spit to meet a few lads that had spent the night moored and then made our way into the harbour. The water was alive with fish so we deceided to throw a few lures out to hope fully catch a few. After a minute or two my brother was on and landed a decent Sambo. This was the start of a action packed day. All up we landed around 20 on my boat (lost just as many) and 10 or so on our mates.Around 930am we headed off for home happy. :yahoo

  21. i like this quote from the skipper makes me laugh..... "As soon as we seen it, we (thought) we'll have to save this," the excited skipper said. so they wait for a slow death so they can give it away,,I say if you aint eatin it through it back
