  1. Had a couple of looks mate. Hard to get crew midweek, and hard to get a leave pass on the weekends. Caught no Marlin to get my season started yet, but we did have a brief hook up on a good striper 2 weeks on the shelf in front of Botany.

Good luck to all on the hunt over the next few months.

  2. The warm water is here, the fish are not. Been a few big dollies on the troll by the chatter on the radio, and the odd blue out wide. We had 23.3 water at 12 mile yesterday, 21.7 everywhere we went east of the shelf. Warmed up coming back in with current lines everywhere. We got nothing either.

  3. There was stacks of bait in 75-80fthm on Thursday. Found the everywhere I went in that line. From east off the 12 down to east of hacking fad. Found a free swimmer, interestingly only small around that 50kg mark. He was just finning along the surface in glassy conditions on the edge of a large bait area. Not a bait ball, large area. It showed no interest in the lures or the boat, just quietly slinked away the second time I past it.

Well done on getting one interested and hooked up. Pretty promising start to the season. How good is the south coast going to fish this summer!

  4. I have rip charts and emailed them straight away to let them know that what I signed up for (renewed as I have subscribed for years now) is no longer what they are supplying. I will pay the additional for the year which is a pro rata rate of how much you have left on your subscription. All the decent maps are now in premium. I will be interested to see the navigation function whilst out on the water. Being able to track live where you are on any particular chart. But I have tried fish tracks 15 day trial back in April and found it pretty good. So I don't know which way I'll go, but I am tied to Ripcharts till February.

  5. My best guess is 35nm east of JB on Sunday. That's where a head of cold water is pushing west between the warm eddy down south and that warm eddy of Sydney.

I'd be a keen decky if anyone wants a decky down that way. I'm working Saturdays and Sunday my only day off I'm

Not towing my boat down there. Just too big a mission

  6. Nope. Heard nothing either. We fished between 500-700 fa from SE Browns to 18nm South of southern canyons. That had us of Wollongong looking at my chart. Few patches of birds down the bottom where we finished with a nice temp break 20.9 to 21.5. Went N and S over that break for 2 hours for 0.

Better out there than at work all day wondering what's going on out there. Every day is different, good luck tomorrow if your out there

  7. Looking at rip charts from yesterday we have the warm

waters within reach of us once again. 23.5 inside Browns according to the chart I was looking at. Now if we can just get the weather to play ball, a late season blue could be on the cards, just when we were all thinking Marlin season had passed!

  8. I've been using Aftco roller trollers for 3 seasons now with only good to report. My outriggers lay at around 60 degree to the boat so there is that tiny bit of line to drop back on a strike. Thought this would affect the hook up rate, but no noticeable misses on Blues,Blacks BFT, YFT or the Albacore. The Stripers are a different story however. In a trailer boat with limited vision of the spread they allow adjustment of your lures with no hassles. Wind them in, drop them back. Too easy, if slightly lazy.

  9. Fished Monday. Worked an area holding bait on the shelf East of plonk hole for 2 hours for 0. Went wide to 500fa and only had a temp rise of 0.4 to 22.5 out there. Went north in that line for 3 hours for 0. Heard the storm

Warning and ran home flat out in a beautifully flat ocean. Nothing heard on the radio from anyone else out either.

Hope it improves but the SST is not looking too promising.

    Cheers

    Scott
