  1. thats fine but there are a few people like me that dont enjoy petty bignoting and worrying if they offend someone with a mere picture and some people come into the category of my previous post here. Well i think i can get more stimulous from bom.gov for the weather and the other info places and enjoy discussions on fishing elsewhere now enjoy looking at your pictures because i certainly wont be from now on and to the rest of the true fishing folk on this site take care and have an enjoyable year talking about the sport you love bye
  2. My last say but just a thought how about including a thread called detailed fishing report where posts would be made by members that are not afraid about giving details to there fishing trip such as time location bait method etc etc . i bet the views of these posts would triple all the rest and you have your answer why people frequent these forums hoping to see detail and new ideas and methods. So how about it add the new thread title in the main forum and lets see or are we afraid of division.... or really trying to make the site better and more interesting.
  3. I thought the idea of this forum was to share information and talk about the sport we all love without being afraid of what we say.....or is it a place where we brag about a picture of a fish that we have caught. I AM MORE DISHEARTENED with this site after sharing all i know to other members and then reading things along the lines of secrecy. so do i now just post the pic with a scribbled background and wait for the pats on the back or actually describe how it was caught where and when and on what isnt that really what we like reading about and actually buy magazines for. i say share the information and that will give the site more members because they do not get bored just looking at pictures and posting nice fish mate.
  4. your thoughts after reading http://www.oceanwatch.org.au/sysfiles/medi...al%208_4_05.pdf

  9. Well guys you have no idea the effort this is taking but you will understand by the end and i wanted to post this for those going out tonight. Well me and the famous Narl put in at patonga at 6pm last night, we decided that we would give lion island a whirl first headed out there and fished for about 1 hr for nothing crap crap crap. So we thought that we would try flint and steel on the way to jerusalem we fished for an hour only pickers. Well it was starting to get cold nowand it was 9pm that we arrived at jerusalem. Ianchored up the water was still and no boats to be seen. We dropped the baits, one squid one stripy tuna and one floater pillie on gangs, you will all probably know by now my fishing methods. an hour went by with no bites whatsoever however i didnt feel like moving again, as i was getting to that really cold stage of hibernating, and i knew my spot had potential . So i started cubing a bag full of stripy my next door neighbour gave me. throwing in 3 small cubes every few minutes, now this is hard to do in our state at this time. Half an hour later our first nibble. Two casts later a tiny chopper tailor and a live bait. This went out and we prioceeded to get more nibbles gradually increasing in frequency then the live bait went off, i lent in felt the weight and gone..... a bodyless taylor came back up. So we are now warming up with the action cubing continues then my floater bait goes off and a couple of minutes late thrashing around no not a shark but a 3kg salmon!!! Then we are getting to around midnight i suppose and a good hit on the squid bait a small jewie about 4kg. the fog is rolling in and i cannot see the banks. more bites chopper tailor a few missed good hits and about half an hour later another jewie about the same size. now all of a sudden a smash on the stripe tuna and a bloody 4 kg greenback, followed by two others about 2kg. Now its getting into the early hours and still cubing, then a different bite the unmissible slow pull down on the ro missed it narl the same could it be bloody hairtail, now remember im using the jewie rigs at the moment large single hook. so im thinking send some gangs down then narl gets the same bite again but hes into it a snapper about 1kg !! Now we got 3 more between this and 2kg but a couple that i hit and had on if they were still snapper were alot larger, thsi is unreal and i have not caught them like this before this size in jerusalem Well i am so stuffed needless to say we cubed and fished till 6am with a fantastic night, it was a major effort cubing but boy did it pay off. So if your going out tonight give jerusalem a go but you will have to perserver for a while with berley. Now back at patonga at 7am, my place by 8am, netball by 9am, and then work where i am at now by 10 am my eyes are hanging out but what a great night !!! hope this helps people out tonight. Cheers Tim p.s sorry cameron you couldnt make it but theres always next week with ehor sat night !! hairtail night maybe but if not hopefully much of the above
  10. good luck to everyone else !!!

  19. the peace and quiet and excitment of what i might catch looking forward to the next trip and for all of this i must thank my dad for showing me how to fish when i was a kid and untagling all those bird nests for me
  20. patience, big baits, big hooks, good spot that you have caught one before or know have been caught, fishing between 1m and 2m off bottom when in a boat, jigging bait up and down very slowly at night, try putting a starlight near hook as if targeting hairtail but not on the jewie rig one next to it at same depth(this is how i got my last one targeting hairtail not sure yet if it helped but i definately got more bites than if i had no starlight in the dead of night in cowan area still testing a bit and refining will keep you posted iff interested)if fishing multiple rods different baits i have had great success with garfish by the way and most of all if you are catching crap dont fall into that feeling of its probably a stingray and not treating the fight seriously i wonder how many big jew have been lost when people figured its probably only a stingray and not played the fish properly. well thats enough for now from me throughout this thread there are plenty of tips etc and i hope this shows the extent that some people actually go to to target jewfish, thats why they may get upset a little when people suggest its all luck and for the people that would like to catch one or more why not try some of the tips etc, it is an even better feeling knowing that you can catch them rather than thinking ill never get one !!! Tim
  21. however you just reminded me i caught a hairtail like that once (true story) and i remember saying to myself now that was bloody lucky. It was a crap night about 3 years ago on a wharf in pittwater southerly, rain and a hairtail on a squid jig..go figure
  22. skill you put barbs on the prongs; remember.... just in case.....
  23. QUOTE(Pukka @ Jun 1 2005, 11:16 AM) I'd go along with Jethro and Chris's comments. A famous golfer, Gary Player I think it was, once said; "the more I practice the luckier I get" Pukk' this sums it up for me !!!!
  24. i guess some of us are really really lucky
