Hi hey does anyone know the dates/times for the big power boat races on sydney harbour in March

hi Greg there are 5 holes on the bottom of the mounting plate and the bolts are in the 4th holes from the bottom which brings the plate above the prop upto level with the bottom of the hull is that where it should be ? regards arked

hi Pelican thanks for your reply,so from what you have said in your reply it should have a different prop fitted to try to get closer to the wot rpm of 5750 that is what i thought but the dealer said that this is the prop that mercury recommend for this size boat I think i will ring mercury and see if they can help me cause the dealer is sure not looking after me here regards arked

hi all I am wondering if i should exchange my prop for 1 slightly smaller or different pitch ?? when i open the throttle it revs to about 5200 in perfect conditions if there is any wind and chop it will only rev to 5000 according to the book it should rev to 5750 in perfect conditions the motor is a new 115 optimax on 5.5 seafarer ventura it is using about 9.5 litres per hour according to total hours use divided by total fuel used it goes well other than its a bit slow out of the hole my dealer with some arm twisting said he will swap it once but if i am wrong i am stuck with it and if i want to go back to the size i had before i will have to pay for it and keep the smaller 1 am i expecting to much from it or will the right prop make the difference?

hi all I am about to clean my fibreglass hull ,a guy said that i should use some Oxallic Acid and it will make the job much easier for me. He said to mix with water brush on, leave for 5 mins then water blast it off Has anyone used Oxallic Acid to clean their hull ?? if so are there any dos and do nots I should know about regards arked

Gee guys all i wanted to know was if an optimax 115 was a good reliable motor to put on on my seafarer. I had no idea it would have turned into this. In future I will think alot more carefully about what questions I post For those interested its on and seems to go ok , so far its been reliable, starts in an instant, uses alot less fuel than the old v6 135 merc but as expected doesnt go as fast Was it the best motor? i dont know and dont realy care its doing its job well so far Most important to me is that the young fella and me are back out on the water enjoying ourselves on the weekend and geting a few fish so lets leave it at that

hi mate here s what i did the first time i went there i drove up went to cannonvale caravan park put up my tent then drove down to shute harbor and caught the ferry to hamilton island lazed arround the pool drinkin and watching the bird life i liked it so i booked a room and stayed the night the next day i caught the ferry back the day after i went to hook island on the ferry and so on i went to about 6 islands over a couple of weeks if it was good on 1 i`d stay if not just catch the ferry back and go somewhere else tommorrow you could hire tinnys from shute harbor for fishing lol but u are propably flying up hamilton is good and they can arrange just about anything u want just take plenty of cash theres stacks of info available on different activities golf tennis walks sailing jetskis heli flights snorkling at the outer reef is good or glass bottom boats if u dont want to get wet they have game fishin trips available too box jelies are round at chrismass but they cant get u if u are in the pool! i think the witsundays are 1 of the prettiest spots in oz u will enjoy them nomatter where u stay tent or 5 star quote name='paint_stripper' date='Nov 3 2007, 10:29 AM' post='204163'] We are heading up to the whitsundays this Christmas - has anyone got any opinions on which is the best island to stay on and what to do? hi Macka thanks for your reply i had a johnson 90 on it till it did a ring and lost all compession in 1 cylinder and yes it was a bit of a slug I could only get just above 30 mph or so from it I decided to go the merc 2 stroke because my last merc was unbreakable i m hoping that the extra 25 hp from the new 115 opti will give it enough power to keep me happy without breaking the bank for fuel like the old v6 merc did on the boat before this 1 I hope to pickup the boat from the workshop tommorow or tuesday so i will see how it goes then I will let u know It was a hard decision with so many motors to choose from now only time will tell if it was the right choice but i think it was a good decision to go this what I trust and not to base my choice on hype and marketing regads arked
