Wow the pic of the green cathedral just brought back some great memmories for me it hasnt changed a bit in 35 years my grandfather used to take me up to Tiona Park ( i think it was called) for fishing holidays when I was a kid he loved black fishing up there we used to go to a place called Dunbogen where there would be 20 blokes lined up along the rock wall following their floats and getting fish after fish thanks for refreshing my memmory arr they were good times regards Arked a friend's son is getting married at the Green Cathedral (an outdoor church on the edge of the lake!) A gorgeous spot, but not in the rain!!

  6. Hi Guys went out about luch time today I had to wait for little arked to finish soccer we went back to Box head hoping for another one of those big flatties we werent there long when I hooked the first it was a good size flatty and fought hard but unfortunatly for it little arked netted him first go he was a bit disapointed that I got the first one cause we allways put a dollar on the first fish boated It wasnt long after that he yelled I got 1 it turned out to be a soapy about 40 cms so it went back for next year although it was only 40 cm its still a jewy to him and he seemed very happy with himself as the afternoon went on he hooked three flatties (all nice eating size) between the 10 or so soapies and tailor that are thick down there at the momment Luckily the first and only flatty I hooked was the biggest or I would never hear the end of it we had a great afternoon we saw 2 other flatties caught arround the size of the large one by other boats out there regards Arked
  7. hi Bob what do you mean "great catch for your mate on a six pound handline" all he did was put the net in front of it !! which I am sure I could of done if my third arm was a little longer Great catch for your mate on a six pound handline. This would have put all of his skills to the test. Good to see he got it into the boat cheers bob
  8. Hi stylo What bait were u using on the lil hooks, while targeting the yakkas ? I allways use the left over yakka or slimies from the last trip for the yakkas Was there a yakka inside the flattie ? Suprisingly no I thought there would of been
  9. Was the hook baited ot were you using a sabiki type yakka rig with tiny hooks? hi Pete I had one small hook baited up with a tiny piece of yaka no swivel and a pea size sinker with the line looped though it to hold it about a foot away from the hook the fish was gut hooked
  10. hi guys went out this morning about 7 am down to box head with a mate we got a few flatties on the drift upto about 45 cm things were pretty slow so I thought we would get some fresh bait from little box head we anchored there and got a few yakas and slimies then I got a little soapy on the hand line so we got the rods back out and decided to stay there for a while in the next 1/2 hour we got 6 more soapies upto 40 odd cms that were fun but no keepers I had kept my hand line in and getting more yakkas when all of a sudden I felt something on the 6pound hand line that wasnt a yaka it was big I thought that I didnt have much hope of getting it in but I would try my best all I could do was try to guide it when it would let me I knew if I put any strain on my line it would snap and I wouldnt even get to see what it was so slowly I tried to guide it up to me every time I got a few feet in it would take it back this went on for 15 mins or so then I got my first sight of it it was a big flatty Now knowing that it was a flatty i was even more determin to get it in the boat so every time she pulled i gave her line hoping that she would get tired before the line snapped finaly i got it to the surface and my mate got the net arround her and lifted her in the boat wow it was big 86 cms 4and a bit kilos I still cant belive I got it in on a 6 pound handline with a tiny hook

  12. I had arranged a day out with Jewgaffer for Thursday not thinking about the extra traffic that would be on the road for easter which got Byrons day off to a slow start for his long drive upto the central coast. It was 10.00 or so by the time we loaded up the boat and headed down to little box for some livies we got a couple of slimies and half a dozen yakkas to put with the sqid Byron brought with him then headed over to Juno On arrival at Juno Byron spotted a fellow raider who informed us that other than yakkas there was very little action there. We decided we would have a throw in anyway and see what happened well we hardly lost a bait other than one to a tailor that was then eaten by a small shark leaving only the tailors head on the hook We decided to move up the Hawkesbury further for the run in tide we tried another spot on our way to railway bridge where again nothing Allthough the fish werent biting the weather was great and yarns were on Finaly at the bridge we started to get some bites and pulled up a little shovel nose and soapy by now the sun was setting and we called it a day allthough the fish were few it was great to spend the day out on the water with an old hand like Byron who passed on many tips to me On the way home from the rip bridge to end of Paddies chanel we passed at least 4 tinnies and one yacht with no light on so becareful if you are out there at night ! Luckily we made it home just before 9 when the local chinese takeway shuts so we finished the day with a great feed

    Thanks Huey

hi guys about a month ago i put a post up asking advice on prop size and pitch and one the many replys i got was from Huey and as usuall he was spot on with his advice, acting on the advice he gave me i went back to my dealer and got him to exchange my 18 degree prop for a 16 degree prop which wasnt easy but with some arm twisting he agreed I tried out the new prop today and i was very impressed with the change. The motor is now much more responsive, jumps out of the hole and and accelerates quickly upto a top speed of 35 kn @5600 rpm so again THANKS HUEY regards arked
  14. hi mate i ve made a few underwater cameras and worked in the cctv industry for a several years i may be able to give you a few pointers email me if u want my phone no. acecctv@comcen.com.au grant
  15. Hi Jewgaffer as i mentioned to you before in our phone conversation i also have broken my back.My accident was a bit over 25 years ago now, i know only to well what a toll it takes from your life, things that most take for granted become almost imposible with out a good mate to help My best mate is Kane my youngest son who loves fishing as much as me,he is 9 now and a huge help to me, he is my little pack horse ,he is also my extra walking stick through the mud and the net man when the blue swimmers are on or whatever else he can scoop up in it His love of fishing, willingness to help and the exitement i see in his face will keep us fishing together for all our lives I hope we cannt play footy or soccer together but we will allways be able to fish arked
  16. hi mate some hull cleaners have oxilatic acid or phosphiric acid which can turn the galv on trailer black or white the one i mentioned has a small amount of hydrochoric acid in it i kept the trailer wet while using the cleaner and tried not to spray directly onto the trailer i had no problems with galv on the trailer i think by keeping the trailer wet it helps to nuralize the acid
  17. Hi mate reecently cleaned my hull using sudbury hull cleaner & stain remover made by rule got it from bias boats and i was very happy with the results with a bit of a scub it removed all stains from below the waterline changed the colour back to white from a rusty brown it has acid in it so a light scrub after giving it a few minutes to penatrate the stain was all it needed WEAR GLOVES OR IT WILL BURN YOU
  18. hi Peahead thanks mate that would be perfect if i had enough room to slide it up out of the water but above the transducer just above the waterline there is a swimboard and i dont think i could slide up far enough to get it out of the water thanks anyway regards arked
  19. hi i leave my boat in the water thru summer and barnicles and stuff allways grows on the transducer while the boat is not being used will putting a bag or sock over the transducer while the boat is not being used stop this or does anyone have any better sugestions ?? regards arked

  21. hi Cam I used to go up there alot in the 90s and on my first trip up there i found a good skipper and boat by just walking arround the marina and talking to people alot of the skippers kept a brag book onboard thier boat and were happy to show it , their gear and boat to me Jim Dalling who skippered Orca was who I got to take me out several times but that was a while ago now when i had money( before the and kids) if he is still up there i dont know one thing i know they were great trips with lots of big fish that i will never forget so if you dont find a skipper before you go dont worry go for a walk arround the marina and you are bound to find one ready and willing to give you a great day of fishing you will never forget good luck to you hope you have a great time arked
