  1. Hi Pappy, XD-100 (P/N 764357) will not have an issue being stored in a constant temp place for a long time especially if unopened. What we have found with the I-2 E-TEC, if the engine is set on XD-100 setting at pre-delivery, the average boater is using less than a bottle a year so no need to stock up, just get one bottle at a time and enjoy your new rig.

More important is to make sure she is set-up right, at the right height and propped to see 5400-5600 at WOT with your normal load-that is the sweet spot for the 40HP.

    Cheers,

    Huey.

thanks huey for answering my question about the oil .i have the motor set on no 3 hole it has a 15 pit viper prop not sure of wot rev as it has no tacko.thanks pappy
  2. I reckon Huey will have the good oil on this one!

i hope huey has a answer to this as i would hate to blow up my motor because out of date oil .thanks for your replys. pappy
  3. thanks for your replies i should have said 2 stroke oil.what i am getting at is to days 2 stroke outboards like my etec use so little oil will the oil in the tank go off before it all used also the 4 liter top up bottle could be over 12 mouth old before it all used. pappy

hi I'm getting 60km with one onboard it has a 17 pitch prop has only 2 hours on it should get a bit more when it free up a bit .cheers pappy
  5. post-5916-1234564102_thumb.jpghi just returned from s w rocks up there for 2 weeks fishing on sparky & jacko .marlin & cobs not in any numbers lot of bait but no fish got 1 marlin of 30 kg .a lot of sharks off the goal .spotty very hit and miss but some good dolly at the FAD got 1 of 10 kg .when i left water at goal was 21.5 and green and a 20knot Southey blowing .still beats working
  6. Hi, that Tacho will work fine but you will also need the harness to connect the outboard to the Tacho. Not hard to fit but do not know your skill level. The ideal WOT RPM with normal load for the 40HP Evirndue is 5400-5600 and the pitch of the prop is all important for any outboard to make sure it is reaching its idela RPM. Alos engine mounting height can play a big part in hoe an engine performs and with the Evinrude coming with SST props they can run higher than other brands. We usually rig on hole no.3 for bets perfrormance.

    Cheers,

    Huey.

thanks for the replys .how much for a harness huey .
  7. hi i have a 40 etec tiller elec start and would like to fit a tacho to it .does anybody no if a b r p commander part no 0775814 be compatible to this motor. and if so can i fit it myself, thanks

  8. Hi, there are two main forms of corrosion that can affect Alloy boats. Corrosion or in more light case called oxidation is due to two different metals reacting. Pretty much all alloy boats have some oxidization and this causes the paint to bubble, salt we get under the paint and make it worse. If left untreated it can cause bad corrosion and having two dis-simialr metals make it even worse.

The other form is electrolysis and this is casued by the presence of stray electrical current whihch in turn runs thru the boat and casue paint to bubble and the alloy to be eaten away.

With your boat I would make sure the wiring is up to spec and the boat is not being earthed. Then I would remove the floor and make sure there is no sinkers / hook swivel or the like under the floor.

Yes running an anode will help on a moored boat, because it will corrode first and are easy to attach to a hull (an do not need any power) but on a trailer boat there is no much need if the other two causes are not there and the paint is kept in the best shape as possible.

    Hope this helps,

Huey.hi i have a little bit of paint bubbling on my boat and you say not to have the boat earthed how is this possible when the motor is earthed and bolted to the boat even the steering cable earths the boat and motor all my wiring is run to buss bars and not connected to the hull . how can i insulate the motor from the hull.thanks

  11. Hi guys

Gdcalmer & I hit the water at Tuncurry, fishing a small bay that rumour has it, has a deeeep daaark hole where bream hide after a lot of rain! Guess what .... they weren't there!!! :(

We flicked poppers & lures around & Wendy finally said, STuff this, I'm going to use mullet!! And almost instantly brought in a very nice flattie about 70cm!! She didn't have a net & was trying to wrestle it onto the lip grippers when it shook its head & got off! :( No piccie either!! :( Shortly after, she was onto another smaller one. I was 'sounding' the bay to see where the depths were & there were fish everywhere! It seemed it was a carpet of fish .... but they were not biting! :(

I succumbed when Wendy offered me some of her bait & so we headed out of the bay & towards the leases & dropped our lines near or under the floating leases. Immediate hits!! I got lots of just legal ones & all were put back. Wendy got a nice 32cm bream & lots of smaller ones.

  12. bloody awesome mate, well done, always wanted to catch a murray cod thats a top looking fish.

now go get a bigger one

by the way you said youve caught alot on that carp pattern lure and im just wondering what you reckon the average size cod is that you get into?

thanks and good luck in the future :1fishing1:

hi i have replied to u it with smokinjoe .sorry a bit mix up
  13. Pappy1 very nice cod m8, actually havnt seen a cod that big, the only murray cod ive seen have been hanging up on pub and club walls in the bush some up to 50kg. How have the carp impacted on these beasts or have they? Has the drought affected your fishing yellowbelly etc? . Pappy do you still think there are big cod to be had around?

Hi smokinjoe, I believe that the carp have beneifted the large murray cod as they are a plentiful food source for the cod, I have caught cod of about 1o kgs and they have had 500gram carp in their mouths. As far as yellowbelly in my area of Mudgee has had no effect on them but it has outwest. As for how many big cod are left I believe in large dams such as Burrendong and Windamere there would be, but in the rivers only pockets of large fish on properties such as I fish were the fish are released and not targeted with set lines nets drum nets. I believe all big cod should be catch and release only. regards Pappy1

Hi, the average cod we catch in our district is 7 to 8 kilos and they have no problem swollowing a large stumpjumper.

Hi hooked up, the average size cod in my area is about 7or8 kilos and they have no trouble whatsoever taking a large stumpjumper, I like the carp pattern as carp have become a very good food source for the murray cod. Regards Pappy1
  14. :clapping::clapping: Amazing fish mate! :1yikes:

I have seen blokes struggling to land smaller Cod from a boat, so I can only imagine the handful your fish would have been out of a yak!!!

Any info you can supply regarding tackle, lure choice, etc would be appreciated.

Hodgey hi i have reply to you it with my reply to roberta .bit of a mix up .sorry

  15. Holy Moley - that is a giant cod!! :1yikes::1yikes:

Are we allowed to ask where you caught it (within 30 km) & what on???

Where do you live? You'll be getting Raiders wanting to join you on the water :1prop:

    Roberta

    Hodgey

Tackle was nothing special 30pound braid, sure catch baitcaster, 20pound rated uglystick baitcaster, lure was large stump jumper in carp pattern, this is a lure I have caught numerus cod on and recommend it highly, cant fish tackle any heavier from a yak anyway as the fish just pulls the kayak around anyway.

  16. Just back from a coupla days at SWR. Fishing was a little tough by their standards.

    Day 1 fished SP's for reds-drew a blank

Day 2 fished wide (up to 350 fathoms) for 15 kings 6-8kgs and a few mixed fish.

Day 3 fished for spotties-10 reds to 2 kgs and one spanish 12kgs along with all the mack tuna you would ever want to catch 5-8kgs (probably caught 15-16 of them). No sign of a spottie fishing live and dead baits.

Still a lot better than Newcastle.

Quite a few cobes still being caught by those targeting them.

Weather should get better round monday.

    So Good luck

    thanks for that update marllin01
