  1. good work mate. You would be happy if that was the by catch everytime you went out.
  2. i think i have actually heard that before. dont know if its true or not, but have heard that the jackets turn them off, especially when they're in plague proportions. Good to hear its not only me that was struggling though. thought id forgotten what to do. Does barometric pressure have anything to do with it? The same as it affects fish?
  3. Has anyone found that over the weekend, squid have been hard to come by? tried all weekend for nothing. Frome the reports ive been reading, people are still getting them in certain places but couldnt get one in the hacking. Its days like these that you just wished you stayed home.
  4. good stuff mate, atleast you still got one. Better than going home empty handed, as i did yesterday after fishing the hacking. Im convinced the Hacking just doesnt produce. Nowhere near as good as the Bay & right up the Georges anyway. What sort of rig were you using & what weight did you need in the strong current??
  5. hey, thought i would put a post up as i havent done in a while. Fished the week before the Easter weekend. Thought i would get out before the public holidays & try get some fish for good friday. Just went out for a flick on Monday to try & get a few jewies, but no luck. not even a touch. Water was still really murky from the rain on the weekend before, so thought i would leave it a day or two to clear up. Headed out on Wednesday to try get some squid as thought i would have better luck fishing bait. After a couple of ours & trying numerous spots, no squid. Luckily the day was perfect & there was no swell at all so i headed outside to look for some squid. as soon as i got to my spot, i hooked up. His mates were following him up as i brought the first one in so i through another jig at them but they didnt want to touch it. Only wanted to go for the trusty pink. Landed 3 in quick time until i got a snag & lost my pink jig. tried with other colours but they didnt want to know about it. Headed out on Thursday with about 2.5 hours of the run in tide left. Stripped my baits up & wasnt long before i got my first run. This was a big sucker. Was fighting it for an easy 5 mins & didnt get any closer to seeing it. tangled me around the anchor rope for a bit. eventually got it off & then headed straight for a snag & bang, gone! Re-rig, only to happen again. Eventually landed a just legal king, which went back to grow in to a big puppy. Next bait, got a few good knocks. Knew it wasnt a king. Let it run a little & hooked up. Few good little runs & a 77cm Jewie surfaced. Was going to release him, but he had stomached one of my hooks, so he became the feed for easter. After this, got busted off again twice more & ran out of tackle before i ran out of bait. its normally the other way around. So that was the end of the day. Headed back to chill out for the rest of the easter holidays.
  6. Yer, ive got no problem with sharing any of my spots with fellow fishos.

  10. thanx mate. I will be fishing land based this time around. I was going to take weed up with me as i wouldnt know where to get it even if there was some. Thanx for your help mate.
  11. Heading up to Coffs next weekend for a week. Having never fished up there before i dont really know where to fish & what to target. was going to do some beach fishing & also take my Blackie rod, if i can find some weed after all this rain. If anyone knows how its going or what i should be targeting, it would be appreciated.
  12. nice feed there mate. well done. Im heading to the hawkesbury tomorrow for a week. hopefully i can get atleast one jew. weathers not looking the best though. Tangles.

  16. Gday raiders. heading up the hawkesbury next week with a few mates to have a crack at some jew. Been looking forward to this trip for some time now. Planned it according to the moon & after this rain, everything should be perfect. Does anyone know if it's been firing lately? We dont fish the hawkesbury often as our local is botany bay & hacking. Will keep u posted on how we go when we return.
  17. got 6 yesterday! good luck.
  18. well done on the jew pete. What system were you fishing?? Me & a few mates are off for a week next week to fish the hawkesbury in search of some jew.
  19. Listen to all these guys. Get rid of the mono & get yourself some braid. It costs alot more, but is worth it in the end as you will have more chance of landing big kings!
  20. There was absolutley noone out there to get amongst the action with me, but hey im not complaining.
  21. Headed out this morning in search of some jew action. Evrything seamed perfect, tides, no wind, overcast. fished about an hour & half of the run in & about the same of the run out with fresh squid caught the day before. For a while it was very slow going, pretty much until about half an hour from the top of the tide. Then one of my rods starts screaming, i hook up solid. was hoping for a decent jew, but the run just didnt feel like one. while im fighting this fish, my other rod goes off like a steam train. Try to hook up on that too but missed him. eventually got the first rod in & a nice 80cm king surfaced. Got baits back in the water & not long after my rod takes off again, this one felt like a jew. got it to the surface to find a nice jew over 1 meter. Knew i couldnt net it so go for the gaff, just about to gaff it & it takes off again, but this time there was no stopping it. BANG! come up with nothing The kings were on fire, big bust ups on the surface & were smashing my squid baits. Missed a few but ended up with 4. Smallest was just legal at 68cm, one was 70cm & two were 80cm. Then the kings went quite as the tide started to pick up pace on the run out. Thought id give it a little longer & ended up landing a school jew measuring 60cm. Although it rained nearly the whole time, i had an awesome day & ended up with a great feed just in time for easter. Sorry i dont have any pics at the moment. Will get them up asap. Cheers Tangles.
  22. to raider mate. There are plenty of blackie spots in the georges. Pretty much anywhere where there is a rocky foreshore, but some of the favourites are blackbutt, mickey's point, the pylons at captain cook bridge, anywhere along the moons. Doesnt really matter where you go, just look for a the water to eddy & you should get on to some
  23. Welcome to the site mate & welcome to Oz. So, that ad about the bundy rum is true...... or is there another reason you moved out here? Mate, fishing over here is endless. So many spots, so many things to try. It wont be long untill your caught up in the soft plastic craze. Good luck.
  24. good stuff mate. The georges is my home turf. I know there are alot of places that como is visable from, but im fairly confident that i could pick the spot you were fishing, as i have fished in around the same depth in view of the bridge & cleaned up on the flatty's.
  25. Just reading your post mate. sorry to hear bout your night. I was thinking of going out on thursday or friday night, but i think you've all just turned me off!!
