  1. Been trolling thru the pages of Yahoo Japan auctions, seeing as I'm temporarily housebound & bored mindless.

    "Which Daiwa"

    "Daiwa Mate 440"

    "Don't have a 440 listed"

    "It's a Daiwa...Mate 440"

    "No 440 listed...Mate"

"Oh FFS how much for a new reel"?

    "For you...MATE...$440"!

  2. Now that I got your attention, quick question as to whats been happening out there, I haven't heard many reports from Browns over the last couple of weeks...

    Can anyone fill me in?

    Cheers

    Ben

  3. :biggrin2: Bet you're grinning from ear to ear :biggrin2:

I should update from 1976 & 1999. Nearly doubled in pages during that time. Do you buy directly from Ern these days Tony? Or are there Sydney bookstores that keep copies?? Still only fishes of QLD??

I love his scribe on Mangrove Jack...and Kingfish "They are legendary powerhouses as they prowl the headlands, often with smashed gear trailing from their mouths " aahhh bring on summer!:sun::1fishing1:

  4. Thankyou all gentlemen, I will get this matter sorted. I have all the details I need & please don't think the Driver or Co he works for has done anything wrong or immoral, he was in fact very civil & open about the whole matter & I applaud him for that.

If anyone was around at the 3pm mark that would be really helpful, just so I have evidence I was nowhere near the vehicle at the time. There is no recourse then.

    Gotta cover my butt :biggrin2:

  5. Hi Raiders, this is a plea for help. My tow rig was damaged by a bus whilst parked & unattended at Tunks yesterday (Sep 2nd). f you witnessed any of the buses parked in the "Cars with Trailers ONLY" section at any time OR if you are the owner or know the owner of the Barcrusher 640/Trailcraft ProFish console/Whittley motor cruiser gathered around/on the ramp at approx 3pm please contact me via PM or here.

I only want a witness to state I was there at the same time (Webster alloy cat, blue bimini). Your help will save me a huge headache!

    Many thanks

  6. Hi LUKEC,

I know of and use a braid that meets your requirements. I don't think it's available in Aust, I got it in Hong Kong. YGK Admix slow sinking PE. It's a uniform Hi-vis green with about 2" of white (correction: BLUE) every metre, a perfect strike indicator for plastics, esp. good for snapper & slack line applications. Highly recommended.

  7. The hardtop is all in 316, some serious work there!

Pel I hope ur :wife: doesn't read these posts, if you enjoy breathing and such :biggrin2:

And yeah, maybe I am a wuss, but I cringe at the thought of taking to a powdercoated fuel tank with a holesaw, esp as the hull is <1yr old. I retired the stilson, blue-tongue & gaffa tape yrs ago

It will all make perfect sense when fitted

  8. whats a collins class mulloway?? :tease:

    Collins Class

The first Australian built submarine that was supposed to be Worlds Best. It was a total failure with Electronics that didn't work (hence the gag), a noisy unreliable diesel motor (was supposed to be silent) etc etc. ADF spent another 1/2 billion on it(citation needed) and have already planned to scrap it by 2025. A military disaster of French proportions :074::074:

  9. Pel, hats off to you - you're really on the ball. :biggrinthumb:

My transom is weird, I cant mount conventional 90deg rod holders due to a fuel tank, I'll post pics when its installed & then it will all make sense.

Yes the lower section may accumulate some water, Rompa discussed that with me today. If so I'll drill some drain holes - no biggie.

I have some 50dia top hat grommets in nitrile that should ensure the legs are a solid fit. The mount fixes with 6 ss bolts, the board will be removed on land, "What do we covet, Agent Starling?"

The height is fixed, but every measurement was triple checked & I used a cardboard template to ensure the working height is ergonomically friendly, paranoia is good for something

If the board is removed I still have two crosspin rod holders!!

The work is exemplary, finished to a 'hospital grade' standard. It really looks like one piece, very few visible welds & no evidence of grinding.

Rompa's work is at the pinnacle, The Force is strong in this one. Have a peek at what he did just for fun:

  10. Hi all,

There were some posts a few weeks ago about the damaged pontoon at the Tunks Park ramp, does anyone know if it has been fixed?

Has anyone used the ramp since it has been fixed?

    Thanks,

    Slaka

Fixed weeks ago. The pole is still submerged and hazardous. Avoid the NE corner.

  11. A Jerk On One End memoirs of a mediocre fisherman by Robert Hughes. A LOT of history on our Harbour, the SGFC, etc. Many hilarious anecdotes.

Fishing Smarter by Tony Bishop. A must have for keen Snapper & Kingi chasers, might have to get it shipped from NZ.

When you guys have finished The Compleat Angler try Canterbury Tales for a challenge! That'll really twist your melon.

  12. I'm with you on that one. The plight of SBT is the real tragedy. Since the quota agreement on the southern fishery came into effect every nation involved signed off... except Japan. Every nation agreed to the idea of tracking devices to monitor locations of F/V's...except Japan. Every nation has within reason stuck to its agreed limits...except Japan. They have plundered our waters with an excess catch estimated to be three billion dollars worth of catch. That's 3bn international fraud, well documented, meantime the former Minister for Foreign Affairs wrote 'please don't' letters...hmmm.

How about old mate Orange Roughy? Remember him? Fished to near extinction. Only then was the question asked why? Well because he lives for more than 100 years & reproductive age is around 30yrs. Still hammered by trawlers despite <10% of biomass remaining. Only took a decade!

It's so bloody simple. Research the species before it's fished to ascertain sustainability, not the 'what happened' research when it's too late ffs.

    [r]end rant[r/]

oooh Ross you got me steaming now! :mad3:
