Cheers Stewy ... we suspected the battery or maybe corrosion in the footpedal itelf. Will check the battery connections too.
Will have to go out again soon to test it out properly.

Was out flicking some lures last night and couldn't get the electric to hold course (with autopilot on) while fishing. It would turn around on it's own accord and wouldn't respond to the foot pedal. Thinking this must have been to a low battery.
Anyone else had the same experience?

Hi All
Anyone know how far upstream blue swimmers are found in the Hawkesbury? Any good recommendations around Mooney Mooney, Brooklyn or upstream in the main river?

This is one reason why I am not a big fan of those spots being listed.

Ditto with me Caranx.

A word of warning that should go with any info that is put up here about rock fishing locations. These rocks have killed people and will continue to do so. Be very careful when you go down, take appropriate gear, make sure you can swim and check the conditions before you leave and when you get there. If the conditions are dodgy when you get there don't fish, even if you've driven hours to get there.

Sounds like a good father's day mate.
Be interested to hear how you kept the bonnies and slime live for a 3km walk!

Saw it on a video with a southern blue. They boiled it in salt water in a big pot then flaked it prior to putting it in sterilised jars and topping with olive oil. Think that was about it.
Just found link: http://www.sbs.com.au/shows/gourmetfarmer/videos/extras/i/1/tab/Recipes
The video is near bottom of screen.

Top work .... don't know where I'd start with 15kg of fillets but plenty of sashimi would be a good start.

Hi there
Just wondering if it possible to add to the site a button to press so you can view all posts made since your last visit, or all new topics added etc. I have seen this on other sites and it's useful to keep track of your posts and see quickly what's going on.
I know there is a shortlist on the right hand side but this doesn't cover existing topics with new posts and can get overloaded quickly when the site is busy.
Just a thought and I'm guessing your limited in what you can/can't do.

Within the lake the bream are biting as are the salmon.
Close to Nord Wharf is Murrays Beach, try the jetty there.
We're staying at Rafferty's which has a wharf so will have a flick there (although Murray's is just around the corner) ... wouldn't mind hooking a few sambos on light gear. Mainly want to get some fish for my daughter. Anyhting would suffice.

Hi All
Spending the weekend up near Nord's Wharf no a family trip so just wondering what is biting at the moment. Am probably going to fish off the local wharf and tempted to have a flick with plastics if I take the tinny.
Not going to travel at all as have family committments so not bothering with the local rocks etc.
Keen to hear from anyone.

Ps: that view from your place is fantastic
Nice family place to get away to.
Someone else might know more on some winter techniques.

Will you be boat or landbased?
Got a house on the lake but never done much boat fishing. Plenty of shore based mainly with powerbait. Simple rig of running ball sinker to swivel with light trace and small hook to single piece of powerbait (fluoro green worked best). Have caught one or two flat lining tassie devils but thats about the extent of my boat fishing up there.
Water level still very good up there too.

Mate, there is some good fishing, but not really around the easiest access areas at thew bridge, wharf, carpark etc. If you go along the trail past the cafe's, boatsheds- up stream, there are some good spots to do typical estuary fishing, but honestly unless you have a boat or qayaaq, then really don't expect great fishing. Maybe Apple Tree Bay could be a bit better. Not trying to be negative, but if you live around this area- go to Narrabeen Lake or West Head, Akuna etc. If you "need" the family affair- Pittwater has some good spots, as does the Harbour around Ball's Head, Kirribilli, Lavender Bay etc....
I added a map for you.
Cheers,

Just wanting something to hook up to for my little girl who isn't 3 yet. Going for a quick punt in the tinny on the weekend. Will see if there are any yakka schools in Waratah or bits and pieces further down.

My problem was I didn't have any prawns only white bread (left overs from previous trip). Am hoping to head down next weekend again to christen the rod.

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has any experience around Bobbin Head. Looking to take my daughter down there with her new little fishing rod but don't want to soak baits for hours looking for flatties. Anyone had much luck with yakkas or other bits and pieces fishing down there.
Went there on weekend and the bream inside the marina sanctuary had me salivating.

Thanks Caine. wouldnt of thought of using a float. Hopefully I get a few. does anyone reckon they will take bait like prawn or pilchard? or someone suggested bread?
I looked on the website and doesnt say anything about restriction of methods. might have to take the drag net.
Would be using the humble garden worm or a grub before a prawn or pilchard.

Got pulled up by fisheries late Friday night at Apple Tree Bay ramp for a quick chat. All in order and they were very friendly, even advised me that I should be wearing warmer clothing but couldn't help but think the resources could be better used elsewhere as I was the only one there and only 3 trailers in the car par. In saying that tho, there were 30-40 in there only 3 weeks back at the same time of night. The weather had turned most people off.
I have no issues with fisheries doing their job but would be good for them to target some of the notorious spot such as Avoca rocks etc.

Minn Kota I Pilot
in Boating
Posted
Hi All
Just wondering if anyone has an i pilot and could let me know whether it's worth the money. I use the autopilot on mine quite a bit but like the idea of the integrated gps that can keep you on a spot not just hold a direction.
Think you can get them for around 400 bucks so not too expensive.
All comments appreciated.
Cheers
