  1. DO they put any restrictions on method?

Easiest way to get a few would be to baitfish with Powerbait I would have thought. Either using a bubble float or running sinker rig to a 2 ft trace so that the Powerbait sits off the bottom of the pool. Use only very small hooks in a baitholder pattern I reckon, maybe size 8 (can't remember what I've used in the past). Only use light 4lb fluor trace or something I reckon.

Reckon it would be fun with some small plastics as well.

    Good luck

  2. Sams Warehouse or GoLo $1 each 6inch, They have yellow red green blue.

    Benny.

My order from China arrived yesterday ... managed to get heaps (3000 packs) in the 50mm size. A lot brighter than the smaller 39mm I've used in the past.

Managed to boat a few hairtail on the weekend so will need to go down again soon to test them out.

  3. I have put my support in also,

I dont normally fish Pittwater but this will encourage me to and will also give me another place to take my kids and their future kids, :1fishing1:

    Regards,

    Nathan

Put my little bit in Nathan. Did first decent session on Pittwater last summer and keen to hit it more often. Improved fish stocks would only make it a better proposition.

    Cheers for the heads up

  4. Hitting Cowan in a houseboat with mates this weekend. Apologies in advance for the noise and frivolity. Taking a small flotilla of tinnys with us as well to scoot around in. Not so sure about this weather tho.

  5. Hi all

Just wondering if it is legal to crab in Cowan Creek. Have seen a post somewhere indicating it isn't and people should stick to the River propert and Pittwater.

Am out on the water this weekend and was going to place a few witches hats despite it not being the best time of year for them. Not our target species but would be a welcome bycatch.

    Cheers

  6. That would be a SEA ANCHOR OR DROGUE and this can dramatically slow your drift in current or wind, just make sure you get the right size for your vessel.

Current and wind? Thought these were for wind. Will just float with the current.

P.S. Not much of a boaty so apologies if not right!

  7. Ended up buying a boatload direct from China. Might see if I can sell some off at some stage but hopefully (if/when they arrive) I'll have no shortage from now on.

    Cheers all

  8. Thanks Kurt

Not heading out till conditions calm down a bit. Am out on a houseboat soon with some mates too so no rush to get out there in this. HOping to get some red glowies from overseas (bulk order) in next couple of weeks. Couldn't find any online.

  9. Hi all

Just wondering where you go for your red glow sticks. Managed to pick some up online but in very short supply.

Also what size do people use for hairtail? 50mm, 75mm? Have found the red doesn't emit a huge amount of light compared to the regular yellow/lime lumo sticks.

    Cheers

  10. Launched in the pea soup fog late Saturday night at Apple Tree and had to navigate with sounder (keeping depths to more than 10 metres) and keeping shadow of shoreline just in sight. Saw more than a few boats doing circles trying to navigate. One boat asked for directions back to the ramp which we gave only for us to see the same boat going the opposite direction straight past us 30 mins later. Sent them back the right way again, hopefully they made it. Some first timers out there struggling as well.

Busy night on the water too. Lots of very slow boats moving around.

  11. Is Rosa Gully the one where you walk along the slippery log? Did that walk ages ago (10 yrs) and not too keen to do it again since the only thing we caught were leatheries.

All I remember is that it's accross a park, the path hooks to the right and there is a log along the cliff face with some ropes achored to the rock wall. Both get slimy in sections so not for the faint hearted.

Anyone know if I'm in the right spot?

  12. Went to a restaurant last week that had sweep on the menu and no it wasn't an Asian place either. I played it safe and had some garfish which was awesome. Keen to try sweep at some stage tho ... give at least 1 chance.
