  1. 1 word....WOW .. you would need a couple of Extradry's after catching that Well done
  2. well done champ.congrats all around .you guys definitely did better than us, we hit the hawkesbury last sunday too,on a hire tinny. drifted bridge to bridge, was even at the infamous 3rd pylon on the rail bridge on the run in tide, landed approx 100 fish, 99 of which was the ever popular catfish (even spiked my bro in the leg which swelled up as expected) and 1 legal flatty which went back.
  3. i wouldnt worry legz, at least u got over 10 replies , i dont get that many when i put a detailed report in
  4. solo ,underwater footage, 3 marlins all in one day. you are no doubt the envy of many sorta reminds me of Hemingways 'The Old Man and the Sea. ...very well done
  5. Sounds like you had a relaxing night of fishing and got rewarded with a great feed. Very well done..
  6. its no more than a few months old if it is a barra, ive kept barra in a 3ft fish tank before and it outgrew that in its first 2 yrs, if it got to decent size it may survive thru our cold winters, they just slow down when it gets cold.... i say we stock the harbour with more
  7. are you allowed to fish off Pyrmont Point?
  8. great bream and you worked with no net.. lucky u didnt get rained on .. put it in for FOTM..... and i think its time to buy a new reel

    Braid

mate i asked this same question here only last week, look over the next page for the replies i got. i prefer fins myself, have used fieline and countless cheapo braid from blah blah poop but have found fins to be the one i like most, it doesnt dig into itself like braid can and excellent knot strength and casts well. ive got 30lb fins on my kingy outfit and have landed metre long fish with it. next to fins ive found fireline to be fairly reliable and casts very well and all the tackle shops sells it...yeah avoid cheapo brands, dont waste your money, buy the best you can afford..
  13. hey raiders.... i need to replace my old line on my over head as well as my spinning reel to be ready for this coming summer of reef bashing and plastic tossing for kings and reds. Ive got Fireline on my others reels and have also used Fins before and have found Fins to be far superior but when I went to my local tackle shop they had run out of 30lb Fins and now I wasnt sure which braid to buy, I didnt really want to buy Fireline again and were stuck with choices of Tuf XP, Powerbraid and I hear Suffix is also a reliable brand. Can I have other raiders opinions on which they prefer,pls,tnx..
  14. i mowed lawns this arvo so you had a much better afternoons than i did...that was one good value mullet, nice one
  15. sounds like a top day. ...could've converted that flake to dinner....

    Sweep

i rate sweep second only to leatherjackets when getting in the way of catching decent fish. they certainly arent hard to come by and are rather annoying when they school over reefs on top of kingfish. some raiders reckon they come up ok smoked, at least leatherjackets are decent eating but sweep i think is more like eating wet cardboard.
  17. Good onya guys.....fishing around this great city of ours i think has improved generally over the past few years. Sharing knowledge and educating and encouraging future fishos can only contribute to the greater good of it all. tnx...
  18. hoodlums right....great plan jewgaffer and it still may work if we hire from cottage pt, cos we dont really want to spend hours travelling and those hire tinnies are down right slugs. thanks guys anyway for all your awesome suggestions. it's just i hate hiring a tinnie without a plan, we usually end up without any thing to take home. last year we hired a tinnie and drifted from bridge to bridge all day and we must have caught 20 or 30 soapy jews, good fun but none were keepers. so if anyone else has any hints pls tell, we need a lot of help..
  19. where can we hire a tinnie at Pittwater? is there a hire place at Palm Beach?
  20. Me and a couple of mates are planning to hire a tinny off Brooklyn the week after next and I was hoping to introduce them to squidding but unsure where in Brooklyn to look, can you catch them in the Hawkesbury?, Ive caught squid in Pittwater before but need help for Brooklyn area, and what kind of fish can we expect out of Brooklyn this time of year and where to look?any help would be greatly appreciated. I am asking for a lot but those tinnies arent cheap to hire for the day and I want to be as prepared as much as possible, thank you again.
  21. If every Raider did the same ... there would probably still be a couple of billion of the little buggers out there! Cheers Peter .....well done mate....nice feed and great pics
