Sounds like a very nice boat. :ohyeh:
So the whole package pretty much takes 2 full months to be finalised and delivered?

Some of the sellers on ebay have good reels at pretty good prices. Ive been looking into it for a bit, as future purchases are going to be made, and some of the okuma prices are very good.
Ie. Okuma Titus Gold 2 speed 15 $499 at Campbells (Australia) and US$179.00 from a seller off ebay. Once you add postage and exchange rate, still a massive saving.
I did a quick search and couldnt find the Daiwa reel you specified, but I found something else. Daiwa Certate 2500R Campbells AU$785, ebay buy now price US$323. Did a quick currency conversion, you could get it for around AU$450. Even less now the dollar is starting to gain.

One option open to you is buying a jig mold for $35 US
Then you can buy a pack of 1000 hooks for just over $30 US
Get some lead around the joint and you are set
Im about to do it in a couple of weeks, works out to be 5-6c per jig head :yikes:
www.do-itmolds.com is the site
Good luck !

Rick where abouts did you purchase your anchor from?

Gday Aquaholic
We have a 5.25m Savage Osprey brand new in the end of 2001.
The motor is a 90hp Mercury and it really suits it.
We sometimes tow a tube with 2 people in it, no worries.
Nothing has gone wrong with our boat yet, so I have no obligations not to recommend it.
Regarding the Lancer and Osprey size models, older they are smaller they are.
Ie Savage Osprey in 2001 was 5.25m and Lancer was 5.65m
Now in 2004 Osprey is 5.4m and Lancer 5.8m

Gday Grant,
Like you, when I started SP fishing, I seeked advice.
I was suggested by Ken to get a Okuma Epix 20 with fireline on it. Id have to say it is a great little reel, had no problems at all with it, nine bearings making it extra smooth, couldnt really ask for more in a beginners reel.
Regarding the price, Campbells have it for $140, but there is a store on ebay thats sells it around US$55. Add some postage and convert exchange rate and you could get it under AU$100
Cheers and good luck!
Shaun
