  1. Hi Capt Bat, Thanks for report - im heading to cairns fishing myself next week and am very interested in the whole light sportsfish scene. Do you generally catch the small blacks in and around the islands out the front of cairns? Any advice be greatly appreciated Thanks SHaun
  2. Great Report their Your first lure shot - how many lures did you actually lose? Im doing a FNQ trip and want to get an idea on quantity of lures

    Nrl Top Eight

Cowboys instead of souths, they are in bad form at the moment but run home is pretty sweet on their behalf: raiders panthers dragons knights then dogs. Otherwise pretty spot on, I think warriors could be the dark horse this final series

    Happy 21st

Cheers fellas, big one come saturday night
  5. Thats a great report, good to hear as me and Big Banana are going down this weekend If the fishing is half as good ill be happy Did you pick the snapper up while targeting the flatties, or pick them up on the close reefs offshore? Thanks Shaun
  6. Great Report there Im going down there this weekend with Big Banana fishing for kings if the weather is good Just a quick question if you dont mind, any tips on where you found the squid because I couldnt find them last time. Cheers Shaun
  7. I fished Berowra Waters this afternoon for a couple of hours using live crabs, we got a couple of legal bream. The electric motor started playing up so we had to cut the session short. Ar well there is always next time
  8. Try to fish close to shore as possible at the rocky outcrops, if you can live crabs or nippers you should get a few....
  9. Nice little feed there Breambo well done I to fished the creek yesterday in the arvo. We got a handful of crabs on the lowest tide I think i have ever seen in the creek and managed to snag 4 legal bream up to 32cm. Prob could of stayed around longer and caught a few more, but we had a good session and it was starting to get dark/late. We got em at calabash bay and collinridge point. Did you get your fish further up towards bar point?, I gotta start sussing out a few spots up there cause I hear the quality of bream is a tad bigger, then around towards the ramp area. Cheers Shaun
  10. If you like beer and the knights you are in my books lol
  11. Sweet report, gotta rate that much fishing in a row Was there much action in close by others fisho's at Currajong, like kings at the cliffs, or any flatties/reds on close by reefs. Cheers SHaun
  12. Good work. Wish I had 40 squid on friday. If you dont mind me asknig what general area did you catch the squid? Cheers Shaun
  13. I am a complete amateur in the category of kingfish, but I know the amberjack put up a great fight that would come close to the kingy imo.
  14. Gday Everyone Just a quick report Got out for a fish today with a couple of mates. Managed to get 2 squid only after trying half a dozen spots. Tried for yakkas at Sow N Pigs but to no avail. Trolled the first squid whole at the spit to catch a 55cm amberjack Second squid was cut in half and prodcued a 50cm amberjack. Both mates had caught a fish each and were very happy, even though I caught both the squid I trolled the other half of squid, connected up, but ended up losing the fish, prob a bit bigger then the first amberjack, due to a knot failing. Was pretty annoyed. Then we tried trolled one last strip, but couldnt hook up despite several bites. Other boat downrigging live squid also seemed to hook up, but lost a couple before shooting off. Overall great day out, just gotta find some better squid spots and fill up that tank for a more action pack day. Cheers SHaun
  15. My 420 cuts the slop pretty good for it size, only prob is if you dont hit it straight on you get a bit of splash into the boat (prob with most boats) as I dont have a windscreen. Even though the 455 is only 35cm longer, the boat is so much bigger overall, therefore it would cut through the slop so much easier and more effective than my boat. Ive attached some pics to show you the difference in the size of the two boats, even though its only 20cm length wise different (450v430)
  16. I own a Stacer Seahorse 420 with a 30hp Mercury. For what I do its a perfect boat, no complaints. If I had the money at the time I would of got the 440, as the whole hull is just so much bigger, ie wider, bigger sides and a bigger v. The 455 therefore would be a great boat in my opinion, especially a big fella. Anyway good luck with it Cheers Shaun

    Pt. Stephens

Good going there Geoff Ive fished Fingal several times and like you catch a million fish each time, with only a few keepers thrown in
  18. Gday Tricks Ive got a 420 Stacer Seahorse (very similar to trailerboat hire) and couldnt be happier with it. Punts along very nice with a 30hp Mercury. Ideal for multi purpose fishing, be it sp chucking, at anchor or downrigging. Cuts through chop allright, just can get a bit wet sometimes (no screen) One other point Stacer is owned and made by Quintrex Cheers Shaun
  19. Good report there Definately did better then me I have never really fished the vines, I know the current runs through pretty hard so you need some good weight there. Mind you, you did really well, the feed looks terrific Cheers Shaun

    Berowra

Gday everyone Just a quick report for 9/10 Feb. Hit Berowra both days try hunt down some good bream action we encounted a few weeks before. Long story short was very quiet ended up with 4 bream and 1 flathead over both days, with many throwback bream. All caught on live crabs. Lost a few good fish, but not many as expected. No spots were really firing with the fish been caught here and there. Cheers Shaun
  21. Gday Mate Ive fished Patonga many times for mainly flathead. Ive used sp's, live bait and frozen bait in the past and they all seem to work on their day. I (and others) seem to catch just legal flathead, ie round 40cm thrown in with many just under sized ones. For sp's, mainly used squidgees as they work, 55mm shad in red, silver, gary glitter and hot pink. Also had success on trolling hb lures, manns stretch 5+ work well if you can source them. Several types of live bait can be sourced at patonga on low tide, poddies, soldier crabs and nippers...take your pick. Ive mainly fished the low tide at Patonga, more towards the caravan park. Just find the deep water that runs off the shallow sand banks and you should find some fish. I know up creek there are some extensive sand flats out of the weed, which also will hold flathead. Drifting is prob the best way to find the fish, as you cover more area Good Luck and Cheers Shaun
  22. Id say live nippers would be just as good. I normally use crabs at berowra cause they are alot easier to catch, and to get nippers their you have to travel a fair distance
  23. Hopefully ill test that theory out this week. Last time the live crabs were been smashed LRC by good bream, and it wasnt after a downfall either....
  24. Good report breambo Hopefully hitting Berowra this week with live crabs.... watch out bream Ive never tended to catch any flathead/flounder at all in Berowra, did you catch yours more towards Bar Point? Cheers Shaun
  25. Bad luck mate, Pretty much a mirror report of mine from Australia Day. We got the squid, but couldnt find the kings. ALso tried Patonga for nothing Cant beat a feed of calamari rings though CHeers Shaun
