  3. hey raiders, my family and myself are looking for a boat but cant find any that will be able to hold 5 people. we need one that will be able to hold at least 5 people just for a day when we all go out together every month/year what ever it will be. My brother, dad and i will mainly use it for fishing though. what should we look for? second hand of caurse because that will be the only thing near our price range cheers, stockoboy
  4. thanks for the replies guys iv read on other places that they only generally go into clear traps where the mullet can still see the bottom. would it matter with an icecream container?
  5. hey raiders, does any one have a few tips on how i can make a homemade mullet trap? just after something easy and cheap as i dont have money to go buy one. also on where to place the trap? thanks stockoboy

  8. gday raiders. went out today and bought some squid jigs to use in middle harbour and in the holidays up at stockton. im looking at trying to get a variety of live baits to just test my luck on the beach and off the breakwall. my little bro brought up an octapus on the breakwall but it jumped off just before we landed it so didnt get a clear look. the area there seemed fair weedy but was pretty close to the little beach so a lot of sand aswell.(dunno if that mix is good or not..) so yeh any ideas on places to try would be very muchly appreciated cheers and tightlines stockoboy

  12. hey raiders. going out in the boat tomorrow afternoon with a mate and going to be chasing some kings. last time we had no luck with frozen squid so i was hoping some guys would be kind enough to just give us a spot or two in middle harbour so i have a chance of getting my first kindy and catching up to my mate. he usually tries the spit for zilch so any other places would be much appreciated. cheers and tight lines guys. stockoboy
  13. gday raiders i decided late today that i wanted to go for a fish with a physio appointment in the morning taking up most of my time. so rang up a mate and decided to meet at our spot at 1:15. a lack of comunication ment we both came with the exact same baits haha but acleast if we knew if one bait was working we;d have enough to keep usuing it. arrived and there were some people already there so we started of with the nad lines trying for some yakkas but no luck at all. when some people decided to move out we took our chance to move right into our usual place. we also started talking to the guy next to us who was kind enough to let us in on a few of his tips, gave us a few ideas to youse squid jigs around the area and even put us in the direction of a good kingy spot . not long after i pulled up a fair sized leatherjacket that didnt wanna let go of the hook so by the time he went back he was doing backstroke. but after watching him for a while floating about somthing huge took it i thought maybe a king but wasnt sure. any ideas what would take one of them?? so a little later on got a small snapper then within 2 mins pulled in an even bigger one that actually gave an alright fight for once . but to end the day my mate was bringing in my rod when he says theres a little bit of weight on this... i think theres something here.as he brings it in closer there was a huge squid following it easily 30cm+ and it grabbed the hook again. when he got it to the water surface it decided to shoot heaps and heaps! of water at me haha but we didnt manage to keep him on. so we have decided to get some squid jigs and see how our luck goes with the kings. tight lines stockoboy
  14. no good to hear Beaver. cant believe some people have the hide to do stuff like this..? my grand parents place got broken into a while back at stockton and we had a few rods and stuff in there which were all taken... and i herd a guys boat got taken at the start of the year. did he have any luck getting it back? tight lines and hope it doesnt happen to you again stockoboy

  19. how much would one of these filters cost?
  20. gday raiders just a question. iv started to wonder if it would be easy enough to make a live bait tank just in the shed of our place up at stockton by just using a tank and a simple pump used back in the day when i had gold fish as pets (about 7 or so years ago) i believe i still have it and cant see why it shouldnt work... its probly not as simple as this.. but is there any reason why this couldnt keep some little livies alive for a night? tight lines stockoboy
  21. hahahaha hmmmmmmmm by the sounds of it i'll think ill pass...
  22. We caught a fair few of them at a little warf in stockton harbour. they were sorta puffing themselves up a little aswell but didnt have heaps of spikes like the toad fish we were getting.
  23. Heading up to stockton with my good luck mate hoping to catch some fish this time. on the way up thinking about how good it would be to catch another kind of shark. And on sunday arvo after chucking out a pilli and watching some movement on my rod but thought at first it might just be the pull off the tide and wind so when going to bring in my rod to check the bait there was a fair bit of weight! when i get it to the rocks it was a around 50cm blind shark. Monday we decided to try the warf in the harbour for some bream and flatties which has usually been pretty productive for us other times up there but not even a touch on the rods but were able to get some little yakkas and tailor for bait to use at the breakwall the next day. my little fish catching legend of a couzin came over in the arvo so thought we better take him for a fish aswell. he lived up to his expectations catching the first, biggest and only real size fish as usual! with a bream just over legal but because of stupid weather conditions wasnt able to use the phone to take a picture. Tuesday we headed off to the breakwall again with the yakkas and tailors hopping for something big. Every cast out we were getting some hits and would bring the bait back in with half of it missing and the bite mark millimetres away from where the hook was. we decided it might be time to move somewhere else when my little brother hooked a seagull and i had to untangle it so we moved down closer on the harbour side to the little beach where it was deep from the beach side and i had herd of and seen some monster flatties caught with a few more baits left. but the only thing we could catch here was an orange occy which decided to let go at the rocks and then one of the rods decided to fall apart... a weird day but had some fun dodging the rain at times and a good experiance with this seagull... haha in the end no keepers but theres always next weekend
  24. gday raiders heading up to stockton again on sunday till tuesday. Any news of what the fishings been like up there recently? was just my luck that on thursday during my school league game that i dislocated my sholdier for the second time leaving my left arm in a slyng and outa action for the holidays! means no footy for a while and no bodyboardiing for a while too but thank gd i can cast a rod with one hand!! and to make sure i get something this time im taking my goodluck mate aswell hahaha hopfully it works this time and i can come back tuesday night and post a report on how good my weekend was. what are all the other raiders doing this weekend? tight lines stocko boy
