  1. G'day Penguin, That last shot is a bit deceptive. It was taken with a long lens and it's compressed the background a bit. Those waves are actually about 15-20 meters behind me. cheers, Cid
  2. A couple of us yakkers ventured out for a few hours early sunday morning but even though the weather was good, the fish were absent apart from one 50cm bonito that Davey landed early in the day. We tried the washes with SP's and metals, trolled an assortment of lures and even kept an eye on the rock fishos just in case they started to pull in a few fish. No joy for them either! I'll let the pictures do the talking... cheers, Cid

Davo, there are a few comps coming up. There are Squidgy comps and Berkley Summer Series comps (as well as a few others). The one last weekend was one of the Squidgy rounds. Yes, it's a live weigh-in and then all fish are released. It's a 3 bag limit individual comp (5 for the Berkley series and it's a team comp), where you weigh in your 3 biggest fish. If you have 3 fish in your live-well and you get a bigger one, the smallest one has to be released straight away. Boats have to be at least 3.7m and also have a minimum of a 20hp outboard. Plus a 60L live-well. Lure and fly only. Start at 7am and weigh-in at 2pm. cheers, Cid

Thanks Davo, we were fishing in Woy Woy Bay a lot, plus also the racks out in the broadwater. My 3 fish came from the shoreline (jetties and boats) on the right hand side as you go under the bridges into Woy Woy Bay. All on soft plastics (Gulp 2" Minnow Grubs in pumpkinseed). cheers, cid

G'day Davo, I was in the comp, too. It was a tough day until I pinned 3 fish in 15 minutes, which was enough to clinch third spot for me in the non-boaters section. Sometimes ya get lucky... cheers, Cid ps Jewel, if I'd have known I'd have looked out for you. I'll catch you on the water sometime seeing as I cant catch you in the Trivia!
  7. Hi all, I rang Fisheries on tuesday and the guy there said they were actually out laying the reefs that day and also the next. He didn't know locations but said he'd pass on my number to the guy in charge and that he'd give me a call. No more news as yet, but I'll post whatever I find out as soon as I find out! cheers, Cid
  8. Fast Times at Ridgemont High???? cheers, Cid
  9. Hi Fisherman-Dan, Yep, it's based on kayak fishing around the Sydney environs. Concentrating on bream, bass, flathead, kingfish, tailor, salmon .... and JEWIES! It wont be released until December though as we've just started shooting it. cheers, Cid
  10. Thanks for the comments everyone. The HB was a Juro Pygmy (red/yellow) that had the hooks upgraded with size 14 owner stingers. Luckily for me there was no structure around so I could take it fairly easily and with the Hobie I could pedal around a bit so as to keep the tension side-on. I was using a pflueger medallist reel matched with a Trion rod and 4lb fireline and 6lb leader. As you can see, I was chasing bream and flatties, so I feel extremely priveleged to have been able to land her. cheers, Cid
  11. After setting off at 6:15am and getting my first fish, a 45cm Flattie, at 6:17am, I felt like it would be a good day! I was heading to some of my favourite pontoons near Oatley to catch a few bream and I was trolling a couple of HB's as I made my way there. I reset the lures after the flathead and 5 minutes later I came up tight on this girl. It took me 15 minutes to land her and after a quick hello I slid her back into the water to fight another day. And it was all caught on film too, which will go into the DVD I'm filming. I still had a grin from ear to ear when I started going for bream and they were obviously keen to play, too. I landed 7 keepers all up, the biggest going 34cm fork length, most caught on berkley 6" Sandworms (Camo). This was obviously one of my best days on the water from the kayak. Here's hoping many more follow. cheers, Cid
  12. I agree with Chris. Salmon on bream gear are fantastic! Botany Bay has salmon about the third runway and Molineux Point (although they're still pretty scarce at the moment). When the water warms a bit more, they can also be found along Foreshore Road. Well, not actually on the road....
  13. Hi Sea Jay, I don't have a boat but do a lot of spinning from the shore for flatties. It's been very quiet the last few months but the water is starting to warm up again so good times are just around the corner! I picked up a 64cm flattie last friday and then got a 51cm flattie on sunday. Both caught on lures (one on a Pygmy 2 (Black/Gold), the other on a squidgy fish (silverfox/hottail). Both were caught at Dolls Point. As you have a boat, try the patchy area around Towra Point for flatties. The water only needs to be between 1 meter to 2 meters deep. Fish the sand patches between the weeds using a double flick- pause retreive. Any of the shad or minnow SP's about 100mm long will work. Gold and silver colours have worked best for me. Good luck, Cid
