  1. i use to jew fish from the shore up wisemans way and further up streamand everynow and then youd get big fish take the bait to end up busting off and a very frayed leader
  2. in any boat hwhich will be used in a following sea cav plates are a last resort. i know you said youve lowered the engine, but where does the cav plate sit in relation to the bottom of the boat now?
  3. also depends if you just happy to chug along ive had boats that didnt plane but got me fishing, 5hp will get you going against nearly any current you will come across, just allow time to get where your going and watch out when crossing channels etc life doesnt always have to be at 40k/h
  4. also depends on how far you sink the thing when launching retrieving, if bearings out of water once a year if you sink it completley id do it every 10 trips or so. or if doing a lot of ks id check it more often even if th ebearings ok its just anew split pin each time you check and a bitof inconvienience from the mess, but having to do 0 anew bearing on the side of the road at night is horrible.
  5. go up to the jail and just drag it across the beach i ran back creek in my allycraft 3.95 avalon open tinny and 25hp johnson about 7 years ago, hooked asmall black 35-50kilos main issue is you have to sit down to fight as the boats are too unstable too stand up and get leverage when back creeks tides wernt suitable i just dragged it across the beach at the jail caravan park i wouldnt be taken people out with you for joy rides as its open ocean that is protected by the headland, really need an understanding of how the area works to be safe. in the pub for lunch one day we see a 3.85 quinny flat bottom punt hooke dup about 500m off shore. its alovely spot for small boats
  6. nice fish, nice to know there are 50cm fish still to be caught to the person asking if they are ok to eat some people dont mind the taste, ive tried one from glenbawn but have had better fish to eat the main reason is the nepean is a dirty cesspool tbh over 50 treatment plants along its length, all the agriculture chemicals and effulent run off from the farms further up stream. they say the nepeans total flow in non rain periods is 80% treated efulent, skiers are warned to not ski if they have open wounds
  7. who was the dealer? do you plan to use them for servicing after this? i see your location is western syd and assume it is the local dealer at windsor.
  8. my draw bar is 75mm square tube the shackle sits on top with two bolts that go all the way through and have a washer and nut underneath well one underneathand one on top to get through that clearance issue. the spacers fit in the square tube and the bolts run through them if you didnt have a spacer you could crush the 75mm tube by over tightening or due to the forces of a collision
  9. my new dunbier has the front bolt with the nut on top but it has hollow spacers in side the drawbar to stop it collapsing when you tighten it up
  10. you can also drop the roller asembly by undoing the bolt on the trailer frame, unless they are welded in place i then use a jack to lift it back up into position this all depend son trailer setup etc, but with the haines 600r i replaced every roller with the boat still on the trailer
  11. a car generally uses its tank of fuel in a week, and is then refilled, a car also doesnt have 2 stroke oil added to it. this will mean after each trip i will have to run carbs dry and empty the tank and flush with metho, as i only get out every3-4 weeks. as my tank has breathers it will conintually expand and contract drawing humid air into the tank being an aluminium tank this then has the issue of oxidisation so i cant win will a water fuel seperator take out water that has been absorbed into the ethanol component? i didnt think they did but hey with the marine park proposal i gues si wont need aboat anyway lol
  12. you havnt added australia fish ive fought some giant fish before, before realising ive hooked the legendary australia fish
  13. off shore you sometimes get days you can run at wot but often not, on previous boats comfortable offshore speed in 1-2m seas was around the 20 knot region so most outboards chug along in the 3500-4k rev range but back to the origional post very nice looking setup, could the 115 have not been enough grunt for th e boat to begin with hence why your seeing the big fuel differences? going from a 115 4 to a 150 2 has to make a big diff in accelration and reduced time to planing

    15 &25hp Etecs

no your not hearing anything just a fact dont look after any engine and it will play up and 2 stroke v direct injection is goobldegook direct injection is 2 stroke btw shame some people like to jiggle the can when their could be intelligent conversation going on i could say something like this, in the last 12 months ive only ever seen two catostrophic gear box failures and guess what they were etecs but that doesnt mean diddly squat as its only a small percentage of motors in actuall use, also being sponsored anglers both times the engines were covered up and didnt make the forum gossip pages

and you can tell these motors are under 3 years old by looking at them? when say a 70hp yammy has looked the same for 10 years ?. but then for me having a bit of blue smoke from a motor i can put a carby kit through for a few hundred bucks instead of 2k for a new set of injectors, i can live with the smoke. dont look after a etec just like any engine you will have issues

thanks for the reply, id put maybe 200 litres a year through an engine. so fuel economy not a great issue where as i clock up 4 hours just sitting at traffic lights each day

    15 &25hp Etecs

thanks huey, well guess ill have to go have another chat with them , although at that pricing and the amount of use i do a new 25 2 stroke tohatsu are 2300 each atm one question how do etec get round the issue of mislabled engines ie 115 ho = 130 hp or a 25 which would be max for my boat having a engine that is actually over that. what do the insurance companies think ?

    15 &25hp Etecs

Boat shows been and gone and my local etec dealers says no news on pricing or availability on the 25hp etec anyone got any info ?
  19. hit anything at more then a knot or two and youll rip it open saw one heading up the nepean under outboard power 3hp from memory and it was the most uncomfortable looking ride ive ever seen anyone experience as the whole boat flexs no rigidness to it try and find a second hand 10 foot inflatable with a part plywood floor maybe, i wouldnt trust my life to it tbh
  20. i have that same pdf for my 4 year old i took them down to the local pool and threw them in so they knew what would happen if they ended up in the water, hopefully this means they wont panic if it does happen basically they just have to stay upright till help arrives
  21. one l;ittle tip get some sort of locking clip for the winch strap that way if something goes astray the boat is still attached to the trailer seen afew boats go floating away when that silly s hook falls out
  22. basically your not allowed ot have anything protrude past the standard front of the car even oversized headlights will get questioned, also no sharp protuding objects
  23. the banana myth is bullshite game fished for seasons and sneaked a bannana in the bottom of the bag each time and we did ok
  24. add a piece of bicycle tube under them makes a huge diff
