  1. G,day all went out on the lake yesterday and today the weather fantastic. Have had my mate from sydney here for a few days for a bit of fishing(Kikila). Yesterday wasn,t that crash hot a lot of tiddlies but we did manage a bream and a couple of flounder It was a lovely day on the water and very enjoyable. This morning got on the water at 6 am and tried for a few squire but the biggest we could manage were about 25-27 cm which of course went back.Moved on towards Pulbah and found the tailor working Chris had a crack at them with a metal lure and got a nice fat chopper 40 cm they went as quick as they came but the lake is full of them at the moment. We anchored up on the southern side of Pulbah in 36 ft of water small tailer were a pest but we persisted . A lot more smallies were caught untill i chucked out a strip of mullet , i had a tentetive bite and struck ,the drag started and i was losing line Anyhow Chris said do you want the landing net i said bloody oath i do 4 lb fireline i didn,t want to lose this one turned out to be a lovely lizzard of 75 cm that messured 16cm across the head she was very well conditioned fish for her length. Took a few pics and let the lady go, i,m stoked it was a great day Dose any one know what causes a slimey growth that we found on a little snapper if you look carefully at the tail you can see what seem to be a very small sea lice
  2. Taylors Bay in about 25 ft of water, using 6lb line it fought like a wet sock.
  3. Heading towards my boat with a bucket of bait and rugged up my wife sent me on my way with the comment " Your bloody mad i,ll think of you when i,m in front of the heater", they don,t understand do they. Anyhow on the water at 5.30 and started a drift, a few throw backs for the first hour and it was bloody freezing, nothing for the next hour, started to think the missus was right when i got a good run which turned out to be a 52 cm flattie. Can,t say it was my best day,but going home with a feed after enduring the wind and cold it was better than sitting at home scratching me nuts. Good luck all Norm.
  4. Thanks Bashir and Joe.don,t have to look over my shoulder all the time . Norm.
  5. Talking to a bloke at the boat ramp the other day about marine radios, he reckons there is a licence fee. I observed that he didn,t have one himself. I didn,t think that was the case, but it,s been playing on my mind for a couple of days as i seem to recollect that some years ago there was. I might be wrong, can anybody help out .
  6. Give it a go with the N/W,s blowing. Very quiet for 2 hours with only 2 throw backs. :thumbdown:Drifted for a while and come up with a 42 cm flatty Headed towards the weed beds hopeing for a few squid for bait later on in the week. The bloody things were following the jig but would,t latch on, they were small but ideal bait size. :1badmood:Not to worry , got a feed for tonight, thats fishing. :yahoo:Good luck all.
  7. Had a late night last night ,Joey and the boys smashed em.Had to have a few to celebrate and arrived at the boat ramp at 8 am sporting sunglasses. :1prop:There was a stiff N/W and a good chop on on.Headed over to Tailors Bay to drift with the wind over to Nords. 30 min and my first bight which was a 31 cm snapper A few more throw backs followed so i headed back over for another drift. An hour of drifting past with more throw backs untill i got a good hit ,which turned out to be a32 cm reddie. : After that the wind became a real pain, decided to call it a day becides i,ve got a hangover to take care of Good luck all.
  8. Just finished watching an american show on catching big mouth bass. Bloody hell they don,t muck around, the instant the fish is hooked it,s scull dragged into the boat in about 3 seconds flat. And then there are the poms using shangies to belt burly at there floats to catch carp. It might be something to do about the huge prizemoney they,ve got over there. All i can say is i,m glad i live in Aussie. Go the BLUUUSSSE. Get up um Good luck all Norm.
  9. Was on the water by 5.30 and headed to the the spot that has become my starting point now. Anchored up and with a bit of drama threaded a prawn on in the dark , threw it out and started birleing, got my first fish a 27 cm. bream. I got stuck into the birly( slimey frames and pilchards) Next run was a snapper of 35 cm, 10 min later i bagged a 32 cm and then a 31cm. : :1clap:It was overcast and raining, I,ve had agood day and was thinking of heading home when i had my last good run, a better than the average flounder. What a day, my best here so far. Good luck all Norm.
  10. Been up here for 4 months, can,t score a crab to save me life. Went out last week and noticed heaps of hats around the place. Are they still with us or is it to cold for them now.
  11. Yea Ken thats called serious burleing.
  12. Thanks for the feed back folks Very helpfull. Try to get a couple and give it a go as bait. Learn something everyday. Good luck all. Norm
  13. A bloke i knew in Sydney told me about razor fish. He,s been up here for some years, i,m a newy. He told me not to step on it, but they are good bait. Now this bloke is a renound joker, is he fair dinkum or telling me porkies?
  14. G,day Chris, nice fish on 2kg. Would have got you 250pts. if you were in the sportfishing still. Was that at Port hacking ?
  15. Yeh that was me mate, ido remember a purple boat around, glad you got a couple.Lovly day was,t it.
  16. 6 am, and a sight for sore eye,s. Morning mist on glassy water, the sun just starting to pop up,and full of expectations. There was no breeze so there was no drift where i was,the water was dirty and had a lot of weed so i moved on towards Swansea channel to try my luck. Anchored at the drop off and chucked out the birley, didn,t get a touch for an hour wich was a small snapper Ah well, started thinking of my next move when i had a good hit, not for long it spat the bait, or so i thought, all i had left was the eye and and half the shank of my 1/0 hook Probably a faulty hook i,ll never know. Just another way of losing a fish.Whent back close to the boat ramp and played with the whiting for a while , picked upa couple and called it a day.Good luck all Norm.
  17. Yeh mate i,ve got some pics, i havn,t worked out how to post them yet. Howzat is helping me out so i,ll get there.
  18. Being up so early and all, i had a shower and and a siester. When i was back with the living i discovered that both snapper had been eaten for lunch. I was left with the lizard.
  19. Poked my head out the back door 4am yesterday, it was pooring down.Isaid to myself,"Self don,t be a wooz go get um" So i did after a couple of cups of coffee, armed with a warm waterproof jacket and canopy and side curtains on the boat. :1fishing1:I,m on the water at 6am and didn,t venture too far from the ramp. Chucked out two baits on light gear hoping for a bream, one went off, a small snapper with the hook down to its date. : The second went off and bugger me if i didn,t get a 32cm reddie. 3 more went back to mum before i had another good run and after a real good tusstle i boated a 34cm reddie. Whats going on here two sessions in a row. The action slowed down about 8am so i drifted further than i normaly do, iscored my first Lake Mac. flatty 48cm. The wind picked up so i called it a day. My wife and my next door niebour said i was crazy going fishing in that weather. Well i,m here to tell you i,m not crazy but not far off it.Good luck all. Norm.
