  10. Thanks boys for the info , I've got an 200hp etec on the back, we went out to the southern canyons last year and we had no drama, I just wasn't to sure if they were out further than that. We are hopefully planing to go out on Monday , good luck to the boats who get out before then and hopefully I see a few of you Monday!

  12. Well done mate that's a great king, did you have to go out far to catch it
  13. Yes it was frustrating especially when there was so much bird activity and bait in the water, but that's tuna fishing you have to be at the right spot at the right time. I heard on the radio a few boats had them busting up around the boat.
  14. Hi all just a quick report went out around the canyons today off port hacking , it was abit choppy and blowy in the morning and we were thinking twice about going out but we kept pushing out towards the horizon, as the day went on the seas got better. We trawled from the shelf out to the canyons , we got a couple of stripes but no yft. We hooked up a marlin which was a unreal to see but he spat the hooks after a couple of big head shakes, it was a stripe marlin around 50-60kgs. We had a great day but no yft.

  16. I went over in june and fished with epic out of tairuia, Tobz was our skipper and i can"t speak highly enough of him and carl they were awsome! we caught around 100 kings in 3 trips ranging from 15kgs up to 25kgs. we got smoked 3 times on fish around 35-40kgs. plus we got some good reds up to 5kgs that we kept for the plate. if anyone is looking for a great fishing trip this is the place

  18. hey offchops the boat ramp at nelsons bay is pretty good most of the time it can get some sand on the ramp if u get a small low tide but genrally its ok, salamander bay also has a good ramp, there is a ramp at shoal bay but it gets alot of sand on it and u might need a 4wd to get ya boat out, getting livies u can go around the front of tommaree head in close they are there most of the time also at cabbage tree island on the nw side in close u will find a big pinnicle u get lives there to, but be carefull u cant fish there only allowed to get lives.make sure you check out the marine parks they are everywhere up there, but it is a great place to fish. hope u have a good time

  22. hey searabbit, just got back from swr there wasnt much happening up there it was pretty quiet. i was there for 2 weeks and fished naerly every day and had to work hard for a feed, only managed a few snapper and rat kings! the water temp in close was around 20 degrees, went out to the fad a few times only small dollies and kings water temp out there was still the same as in close. i didnt hear or see any one catching marlin or cobia, the only decent fish i saw was a 15kg spanish mackral and a few small fin about 5~8kg.
