Hang it to the clothes line by wire, cut behind the head and use pliers or put salt on your hands to get a grip and pull like hell. We used to cut the eel into steaks, add alittle seasoning, then under the grill.

Can't go far wrong with that method.

  4. There are personal EPIRBS available and the ICOM VHF hand held I use is waterproof to 1 metre. I also have a 8 man RFD Liferaft on my boat. This is the type in the vinyl enclosure and is not too heavy for the front of the boat. Put your mobile phone in a waterproof sealable plastic bag and keep that in your pocket also. Lifejackets are quite bulky to wear all the time however I have the less bulky PFD (Personal Floatation Devices) and when the sea is a little shakey, we wear them continuously. The current here in the Solomons can run at up to 5 knots and even a good swimmer would have difficulties without floatation of some sorts. I used to fish with a fellow who always wore wet suit pants - the kind that water skiers use, with floatation on the rump area.

    A few ideas for consideration.

  5. When I was a kid we lived on the Georges River at Illawong and regularly caught smaller rays. We were quite oblivious to the barb having any venom. In fact we used to whack the flaps off them, batter them up and deep fry them. Very Yummy.

Later in life though, I was with a party camping in the mangroves and far away from medical treatment when one of the guys got a similar puncture as been described. This guy seemed non-complexed and told us to start up his 4x4. I assumed we were going to head off to the nearest town, some 120 miles away, when he got out his tool kit, shut down the engine on the 4x4, and proceeded to remove the radiator hose. He collected the hot radiator water in a bucket and put his foot in the water and was cured immediately. The main point is that he never panicked, and used his bush and survival skills to quell a quite disturbing moment for the rest of us.

Maybe the radiator trick might help someone else if in a similar remote location.

    Women, children missing

TEN women and an unspecified number of children are still missing after the vehicle they were travelling in was ambushed along the Buin to Arawa highway on Tuesday morning.

According to the driver of the vehicl, who was also wounded in the ambush, he was transporting the women from the Oria area to Arawa for medical checks with specialist doctors who had come from Rabaul.

“There were about 20 of Koike’s men lined up on the side of the road and they just opened fire on the truck-load of civilian, mostly women and children and cocoa and copra farmers,” the driver told the Post-Courier.

One passenger was killed instantly and fell off the moving vehicle. The victim was identified as Wilson Kauori in his 40s from Oria.

The driver (name withheld) said that he continued driving away from the ambush area until the vehicle stopped about 200m away from the scene.

He said the vehicle stopped because the tyres had been damaged by bullets and most of the survivors fled into the jungle pursued by Damien Koike’s soldiers who also set fire to the vehicle.

He said that about five people were wounded including himself, however 10 women and a number of children were still unaccounted for and are believed to be in hiding. The wounded were transported to Buka hospital.

Meanwhile, a WILMO commander in Buka condemned the attack on the women and children and said that ABG had failed and it had no choice but to call in the Australian-led regional assistance mission to Bougainville.

“President Kabui we hold you responsible for all the deaths that have occurred in Wisai over the past three years that Koike and his faction reigned here. We complied with the weapons disposal program and surrendered our arms to be destroyed but the government has failed to provide security for us in South Bougain-ville. We have no choice but to take up arms in self defence,” the commander said.

He claimed Koike and his men had no code of conduct in regard to rules of engagement in war.

    Me’ekamui concerned

THE Me’ekamui Defence Force is concerned about the massive buildup of arms in South Bougainville, commander Chris Uma has said.

He said in a statement that there had been suspicious looking fly-overs by aircraft on Bougainville heading towards the southern region of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

Mr Uma said the Autonomous Bougainville Government should explain whose aircraft had been making suspicious flights towards south Bougainville where members of the Wisai Liberation Movement had been in armed conflict with another faction.

He distanced his Me’ekamui Defence Force from the Wisai incidents, saying that the Me’ekamui Defence Force he led had forgotten about guns and was working on rebuilding Bougainville in partnership with the ABG.

Mr Uma also said that the situation would be avoided if there was strong political leadership on Bougainville.

“The current situation in Buin according to Me’ekamui is believed to be influences of the people in the top bracket of Government who still pursue power in politics on Bougainville and Papua New Guinea,” he said.

He said clan chiefs in South Bougainville should take ownership of the problems and talk to the conflicting factions so that an amicable solution could be found.

Mr Uma said the Buin chiefs should also not allow ex-combatants from other parts of Bougain-ville to take sides with the factions in dispute as this would just prolong the conflict.

  9. I had a 12' punt with a 25Hp on the back. I cut out a section of the back seat for a live bait well. I used to give it a fair punishment both on the water and on the roof of my ute getting to and from the hotspots. Never had a problem. With battery stowage in aluminium there needs to be awareness regarding spillage, corrosion and short circuiting. Does the seat go down to the floor or is it suspended? If suspended you may need support under the seat to prevent bending, sagging or the like from continual pounding whilst in choppy water. Hence I cut the back seat.

    Food for thought.

  10. Four friends, who hadn't seen each other in 30 years, reunited at a party.

After several drinks, one of the men had to use the rest room. Those who remained talked about their kids.

The first guy said, "My son is my pride and joy. He started working at a successful company at the bottom of the barrel. He studied Economics and Business Administration and soon began to climb the corporate ladder and now he's the president of the company.

He became so rich that he gave his best friend a top of the line Mercedes for his birthday."

The second guy said, "Darn, that's terrific! My son is also my pride and joy. He started working for a big airline, and then went to flight school to become a pilot. Eventually he became a partner in the company, where he owns the majority of its assets. He's so rich that he gave his best friend a brand new jet for his birthday."

The third man said "Well, that's terrific! My son studied in the best universities and became an engineer. Then he started his own construction company and is now a multimillionaire. He also gave away something very nice and expensive to his best friend for his birthday 30,000 square foot mansion."

The three friends congratulated each other just as the fourth returned from the restroom and asked "What are all the congratulations for?"

One of the three said "We were talking about the pride we feel for the successes of our sons....What about your son?"

The fourth man replied "My son is gay and makes a living dancing as a stripper at a nightclub."

The three friends said " What a shame...what a disappointment."

The fourth man replied "No, I'm not ashamed. He's my son and I love him. And he hasn't done too bad either. His birthday was two weeks ago, and he received a beautiful 30,000 square foot mansion, a brand new jet and a top of the line Mercedes from his three boyfriends.

  11. A married man was having an affair with his secretary.

One day they went to her place and made love all afternoon.

Exhausted, they fell asleep and woke up at 8 PM.

The man hurriedly dressed and told his lover to take his shoes outside and rub them in the grass and dirt.

He put on his shoes and drove home.

'Where have you been?' his wife demanded.

'I can't lie to you,' he replied, 'I'm having an affair with my secretary.

    We had sex all afternoon.'

She looked down at his shoes and said:

    'You lying bas###d!

    You've been playing golf!'

  12. Polish Divorce*

A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl.

Although his English was far from perfect, they got along very well until one day he rushed into a

lawyer's office and asked if he could arrange a divorce for him.

The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions:

    Have you any grounds?

Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.

No, I mean what is the foundation of this case?

    It made of concrete.

I don't think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge?

No, we have carport, and not need one.

I mean. What are your relations like?

All my relations still in Poland.

Is there any infidelity in your marriage?

We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.

Does your wife beat you up?

No, I always up before her.

    Is your wife a nagger?

    No, she white.

Why do you want this divorce?

    She going to kill me.

    What makes you think that?

    I got proof.

    What kind of proof?

She going to poison me. She buy a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf in bathroom.

I can read, and it say: "Polish Remover".

  13. How long is a piece of string?

Depends if you purchase an overhead with star drag, lever drag, 2 speed, etc.

If you plan to cast then maybe you need to look at buying 2 outfits. A boat rod coupled to an o/head, plus a spinning outfit. Obviously you will require a heavier line for your "larger fish" which may not be conducive for casting. I agree with Josh, check your local tackle store, they usually have ready made combos on the shelf and can provide you with the best answers and or options.

Let us know what you end up getting. Good luck

  14. it will be interesting to see now bennets going to dragons that how many players follow him...

Don't worry too much about the Dragons, I still remember the 38 to nil drubbing the old City Ford gave to Changa's boys in a replay Grand Final. Even with his white boots Changa was no match for Shubert & Fairfax.

    What year was that?

  15. bbq dolphin fish yummyyyy

In fact, I prefer thinly sliced and thrown into a medium heat frying pan full with melted butter. About 1 minute before turning for 30 seconds. Baratta, melts in the mouth. Say no more!

  16. Dolphin Fish

    Red Emporer

    Plate size salt water Barra
