  1. Here is the tuna video for when you have a spare 10 minutes to watch it. WITH SOUND IS BEST
  2. Or the short answer is they are the same except cosmetically
  3. I found out the answers to my questions The Simrad GO7xse has all the same features as the Lowrance 7TI except the lowrance has buttons as well as the touch screen. Mounting is slightly different to they have different brackets and the Simrad lends itself to being the better flush mount option as it is sleeker.
  4. Yes we are spoilt along the tassie east coast it is a short run to the SBT grounds they seem to hug the coast
  5. I was having more of a look at the good value touch screen sounder/gps that can run the new totalscan transducers and it looks like there are two options very similar. So similar I am wondering does any one know which is the better unit out of the new Lowrance TI touch and the Simrad GO7 XSE?
  6. The new lowrance elite ti in a 7 or 5 inch should do the job nicely the unit can power your normal depth sounding, structure and side scan incorporated into the total scan transducer. Personally I would go for the 7inch that way it is not to small when you split the screen and good value at $1200 rrp including a map card one with the total scan transducer
  7. Thanks we were very happy to get a big SBT a fair bit of luck is involved
  8. We had a great day on Monday fishing at Eaglehawk neck in Tasmania we landed this monster blue fin tuna. As you can see from the 30 second clip we got it into the boat with great difficulty. The fish weighed 111kg
  9. In case anyone else is interested I found out that the composite material used are the same for the tanacom and the tanacom bull.
  10. I would get into the local so I can pick them all up and compare but I am laid up with a bad back unfortunately. So your help is appreciated.
  11. I understand the new Tanacom is a composite frame material doe any one know if the Tanacom bull is aluminium like the banax?
  12. Yep I saw the miya epoch they look like a robust but of kit but out of my price range as I am after two not one. Also I am going to try them on a stand up broom stick to start with so will be holding the rods rather than sticking them in the rod holders Has anyone had any issues with the swivel top tips jamming the braid? I have heard one bloke complain about that...my thoughts were if you made sure it was a good quality aftco swivel tip and didn't try and set the hook by jerking the rod it might not cause the jam up? Also I am wondering if anyone has experience with the deep drop bent butt rods is a shorter 5'6 rod preferable to a 6'6 rod assuming sinker weight is around a kg?
  13. Thanks what brand/lb braid line did you put on it and how much line did you get on it?
  14. As the title suggests I am interested to talk about deep drop electric reel fishing. I would be particularly interested to hear from anyone that has used the banax kaigan 1000 and a Daiwa Tanacom 1000. I am looking to get two electric reel set ups for deep dropping for blue eye. So far I have worked out that there is not much difference between a tanacom bull 1000 and a tanacom 1000 except for the colour and the jigging function so I am trying to work out any major differences between a banax and a Daiwa with out having to buy one of each and find out the hard way. I have had a play with the Daiwa and noticed it is made in Japan, not sure about the banax? When I have seen the Banax side by side I did think that the banax looked a bit bigger but that's about it.

    which reel

The Daiwa Saltist 6500 is more comparable to a Saragosa or Spheros 18000 in size. A fair comparison would be a Shimano 8000 to a Saltist 4500. I like the look of the Shimano Stradic 8000 in the smaller size And the Spheros or saragosa 18000 in the larger size reels A worth while exercise is To google Alan Tani and the Reel you are interested in he has pulled apart most reels and can give you an unbiased review Cheers

    Spheros 18000fb

The best I have found the 14000FB is for $269. They have a new design for the spool and a new set up to lay the line better. I also noticed the anti reverse switch has been removed all together and the paint work has a different finish.
  17. Has anyone used had a look or used the new model Shimano Spheros? I am particularly interested in the largest size 18000FB
  18. Hi I spotted an Spheros 18000 Fb on ebay australia and am considering bidding for it. Does anyone know what these reels will retail for in Australia? Thanks
