  1. If your after a feed of bream, fish the mooring in most of the bays, have to use a decent amount of burley and then send some un-weighted baits down..nippers seem to do the trick, only problem is the pesky pinkies but now an then you do get the odd keeper snapper..

  2. hey folks, interested in hearing anybodys experiences in fishing harrington, heading up there for a few days in january..Will be taking the boat up but id rather fish the beach for jew or river mouth!! anyone had any luck in the past or of lately?

    Cheers,

    Rob

  3. sorry late report but everytime i have tried to attach pictures it hasnt work, finaly got it to work..

Had a good sesh on the bream about a week ago on the beaches, used live worms dad plucked out of the beach earlier in the day, he seemed to nail a heap of very solid bream after dusk,i ended up with 2 sharked baits which were for jew :ranting2:

Didnt have a tape measure but one or two of them looked easily to be pushing the 40cm mark, all fish were released!!

  4. Had my first fishless seshion on the beach this year on tuesday night, everything seemed so right, how wrong i was!! Added a heap of burley, had a great tide and gutter!! Not even a touch on fresh squid, live worms and live mullet :ranting2: quite frustrating!!

  5. Thanks for replies fellas.

Martin - heres hoping for better luck (or skill :074: ) next time, but I wont be freezing any sambos thats for sure. OK when eaten fresh but mush if frozen!

Is kingfish OK to eat after frozen? Or is it like most pelagics, best when fresh?

i forgot about a large fillet of kingy in the freezer and came across it two months after catching it, i took the the risk and it cooked up a treat and it still tasted brilliant!!

  6. i have been a little lazy with reports but i have been out on the water a few times this week, with most seshions ending in tantrums as tailor have been snatching the live squid one after the other.. The kings seem to be holding deeper than other weeks an catching them on poppers hasnt been a option..So i changed tactics to drifting between moorings for a redicoulous amount of tailor..Did connect to a very solid king that took me around a mooring in less than 5 seconds though, which was fun while it lasted..Also had another sesh on the tailor an salmon schools which i was lucky to pull a fish in now an then every time they popped up but they were very very boat shy...

    Sorry no pics!!

  7. crazy crazy stuff, you really have these kings wired mate..great effort kelvin,i think every fisho in sydney is very green in envy including myself :mad3::thumbup:

Some great sized hoodlums in there :yahoo:

Surely you are given alot of grief boat side when trying to bring them aboard, especially fishing by yourself?

    Rob..

  8. Iif your bait presentation is good and a jewie is hungry he isnt going to hesitate, seen plenty of jews caught on pillies :ranting2: but have never got one myself on them.. i allways use slabs or butterflied baits in the surf so i find having a two hook rig does the trick for me but have been bitten of a few times by large tailor which i believe would of been caught on ganged hooks, each to their own really..

  9. Hot humid afternoon before a huge storm is on its way is the perfect conditions, seems to produce the goods big time..just get ready to run or get the boat started when you that loud crack of lightning :074:

  10. top effort Trouble

Unlucky about the bream! Bream from the beach are definitely fighters and much bigger than the river ones.

Did you use salted mullet or just fresh strips?

The reason I ask is I want to try and make some salted bait and need a cheap fish to try it out with.

    Cheers

yeah the bream in the suds defiently know how to put on a good show!! fresh mullet strips were used, usually like using slimey mackeral but had none, seems like the mullet did the trick though..

Thanks for the report and nice fish. Can i ask what beach you where at and what rig you used? and can i assume you used a different one for the salmon and the bream?

    Thankyou

haha they are just your simple rigs, no idea wht they are calleed but yeah a running sinker to the swivel with 40cm of 12lb trace with 1/0 hook and jewie rig is the same but 40lb with snelled 8/0 hooks, hope this helps..fish with fresh baits and you cant go wrong at the beach i find :1fishing1:

  11. Fished weds night and tonight for a total of two salmon, 1 solid run and i lost an absolute cracker of a bream right at my feet, the hook just popped out of its mouth, quite odd..

Wednesdayarvo/ night we got two decent salmon, my one actually gave me alot of curry which was a bit of fun and also had one very solid run on a big strip of mullet but it either spat the bait or the hooks pulled in a matter of seconds, i was left shattered an dad was whinging like a 5yr old to go home so we packed it..This arvo i decided to do a solo mission so i could spend at least 3-4 hrs down there, the water looked great and the wind was dieing slowly. well of course as soon i had everything rigged the wind picked up BIG time..Well i lasted about 1hr an half, got stung numerous times by blue bottles :ranting2: an yeah lost tht cracker bream right at my feet..Not to worry :05::1fishing1:

  12. I just hope those guys with the nets just leave this place alone. :mad3: I didn't see too many people getting kingies on Sunday and a LOT of floating weed around. Could be the pros dragging their nets on the bottom or just the conditions. I just hope the kingies stay around the moorings away from the nets.Cheers Kelvin

You are SOOO right. cheers Kelvin

Yes, i am also very suspicious of the amount of suspended weed about in the water of lately, still undecided in what cuasing it though, all the kings i have come across are in the bays and around the moorings so hopefully they are out smarting these mongrels!!
