  1. thanks guys stippy- the kingy was hooked close to latitude rock in very close to the rockwall where a lot of slimeys were holding hahaha yep at first we thought it was a small shark and i was only using 20lb flurocarbon so we were trying to take it easy but this is much better than a shark ANY DAY
  2. Hey guys, This is a pic of my 1.2m 13kg king that I caught whilst fishing for snapper on holidays at Forster. The king was hooked on a 6" nuclear chicken gulp grub and took around 40 minutes to land on a 4-6kg rod and 20lb braid. Cheers, Jack
  3. Thanks for that Mick, I might still give it a try on Sunday but might stick more towards the balmoral area or hang around the markers in middle harbour. Give a few new plastics a go
  4. Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has been lucky enough to get out on the water in the Spit/Middle Harbour area and what the fishing has been like. Would it be worth sticking around the moorings and flicking a few plastics or poppers or is the water still very dirty from the rain? Is the school of trevally that has been around North Head still around or have they moved off? Sorry for all the questions but any info will help a young fisho like me cya on the water, Lure'em
  5. Sounds like a great day! I'm heading out tomorrow hope it goes as well. Is it rough atm in there?
  6. That's amazing! Would love to see pics of that! The rain's been really good for the lake. On sunday managed a few tailor, 2 octopuses and a 65cm flattie! Will upload pics later Cheers
  7. hey guys I'd just like to tell you from first hand experience that hammerheads are beautiful eating! I'm not to sure how they're prepared but they sure have good fillets - and lots of them! I caught a 1.8m hammerhead while on holidays in forster and it's sure a good work out too! Cheers, Jack
  8. My family and I go up to forster over the shcool holidays and you will usually find that further up river the water is a lot deeper as a lot (and I mean a lot) of people use ski-boats over the christmas break. But you should find the water nice and deep if you stick to the main routes. Jack
  9. I think that's a dart. I don't think they're very good for bait or eating. Where'd you catch it??
  10. This was a great idea and would be a lot of fun to find everyones seperate story. You guys already know mine so keep them coming!
  11. A few years ago - one of my first times ever fishing, I was using a small surface lure with devon on the bottom and got an about 15cm bream or bass. At the time im not too sure what it was, on a hand reel. Catching that fish is what got me hooked for life.
  12. Hi, My family go up to a van in Forster in the holidays, especially for a few weeks in the New Year and the fishing's always great. We usually get a lot of nice bream and the odd nice sized flattie. You can also get a lot of live mullet because the schools come through occasionally. Good luck and tight lines Jack
  13. Thanks guys, that flattie surely made my day! (and dinner)
  14. Hi all, Just like every sunday I get dropped off down to my best friends house for a fish down in narrabeen lake. Today's fish began at 8am with the tide coming in. The fish were soon biting and we managed a nice 39cm flattie. Afterwards, we had to return to his house to grab some more bait (pilchard) and we were straight back down there. The tide was at its highest now and the flats were completely covered in water. We waded around for a while before returning to our original spot. I couldn't be bothered to change my bait so I flicked out a small and torn piece of pillie behind the weed. I was lazily holding the rod in 2 fingers when something grabbed it and peeled off line very fast. My friend saw the flattie and told me he had some size in him so I continously fought him in before he ran back out to tire him out. After about 3 mins he was done for and he was quickly brought up onto the shore by a really nice onlooker. To some this flattie may not look to big but for me it is like a dream come true. He was measured at exactly 65cm and weighed 2.5kg. All in all a great day of fun was had and we ended up having great results and a nice feed for dinner. Jack
  15. Nice Catch Mate! Just last wednesday my friend and I picked up a nice 45cm flattie and I was busted off by something that felt around that size! Hoping to go back down there tomorrow. Jack
