  1. get in to it,at easter the creek was full of large brim and flat head. good luck :-)
  2. Wouldn't mis it for the world, will be leaving a little late so if you spot the boat give us a wave as head out through the bay
  3. Not every one likes okuma reels. most of my reels are OKUMA and Im hapy with them that includes an overhead I found washed up on the beach one day, quick service & it was fine until the spool cracked wich was fixed by OKUMA under there "lifetime warranty" they replaced it with an alloy spool so there was no more problems. Ive been using 2 okuma kings "egg beaters" for over 12 years now and they still work fine. so YEP bait feeder for $30 if you dont buy it tell me where it is I will have it! as for Pflueger never had one and never heard anything on them but the shops ar realy pushing & trying to get me to buy them. that worries me.
  4. make your own burley, left over bread (or yesterdays bread from the bakery) put through a meat mincer makes bread pallets then mix tuna oil through it. I make it in advance and keep it in the freezer ready to go. can also add left overs from your last catch.
  5. I was trying not to use brand names incase the site has some issues with it but YES you are right about INOX I love the stuff only it gets a bit expansive so I use Lanotec aswell.
  6. You may not even need to change rim size, your tyres have a load rating on them the better the tyre the more they carry Ive just upgraded my tyres from a realy cheep nylon belted tyre with load rating of under 400KG my new tyres are steel radials still far from the best but they have a rating of 615KG (per tyre)you can actualy get light truck tyres for these small rims. My rims are only 13inch 5 stud. Remember to do this properly and leagal you would have to get a new compliance plate on your trailer and because of the brakes you would need a pink slip for rego each year.
  7. if your trailer is in reasonable condition why not increase the wheel size and add brakes to it. Talk to a trailer manufacturer I'm sure if you find the right one they will advise or even modify your old trailer to suit, would have to be cheaper then a new trailer.
  8. I dont think its something you could just buy unless the trailer is close to new then aproach the manufacturer. I would be more looking for some one to weld the old one or even make a new and stronger one.
  9. HI Guys Each and every one of us have a little some thing we do to make boating & fishing easier / boat, Trailer or fishing gear last longer or be more reliable. a Perfect example was ; My fish finder that was very unclear when traveling even at trolling speed! Problem was solved when I put some Sikaflex under the transducer bracket = the silicon absorbed the Vibration and all was good. After hooking the trailer to car put a clip or lock in the handle so that it cant release THEY DO COME UNDONE I was lucky no Damage done. Regularly spray all of your trailer with WD like spray to prevent corrosion. Keep the Polish up to your boat more then you do your car. This prevents paint fading also protects against scratches when you rub against wharves & jetty's also makes it heaps easy to clean = end result goes in your pocket at resale time Mr Sheen works a bit like Rain-X on your clears. Mount Bilge Pumps using a dollop of Sikaflex instead of trying to find something to screw them too (also good for keeping wires in place) What about you Im sure you have some thing to add or improve on mine.
  10. I beleive you are right yaraone when I put the lights on my boat I set them to abide by whet ever rules I could find at the time and the main thing there was that the white light had to be at least 1mtr above the nav lights clearly visable 360deg. Often the case where boat shops set up lights not to rule.
  11. Hi Guys I'm taking the family to Port Stephens for a couple of days next week. I have no idea where to wet a line once I get there so I need some advice on where to fish both in the bay (for the family) and off shore for ME PMs are fine if you don't want to give to every one, all help is appreciated!
  12. Now that sounds like a perfect night out only I dont see me fishing all 4 stages in the one night, wife and son will both get bored b4 the prawns come on unless I go early and they meet up with me later. What ever happens thats the location this time so much closer! Thanks again Jewgaffer. Cheers, Brett
  13. Good Suggestion jewgaffer I do remember once fishing under the bridges having prawns flicking around the boat, and the location is perfect as I have to pick up the nephew from beverly hills long the way. Now the only concern I have is working out where the shallows are that your talking about as Ive never done anything along the banks of botany bay other then launch a boat. :-) Brett
  14. Thanks srxwat4 looks like I have talked my way out of taking the boat now, saves a lot of work for a couple of prawns. now its just work out where to go.
  15. Hi Guys Every summer on the new moon we try prawning, have been to Windang, Narrabeen lakes and the Entrance the most we have ever caught was bugger all "just over 1 handfull". This time my wife wants to use the boat and prawn from the boat (I think she is avoiding getting wet) where is the best place Local to Sydney to go and are the techniques any different? we are using prawning light & net 1 hour after the high tide.

    Boat Trailers

Hi playatz while you are looking at modifying your trailer for easy solo launch & retreive check this post could help you solve some problems. self connecting/disconnecting bracket
  17. Mine is all set up including connection to gps and registered mmsi number but no one seems to use it to its full potential. why dont we use it to see if our mates are on the water and where they are. I think its all too complicated. if we were using it more often we would be more confident in using it when we are in need also we would know if they are working correctly. Mine is showing my co-ordiantes on the radio but I dont know if they will be sent if an emergency occurs then its to late to find its not working.
  18. when I bought my VHF radio I made certain that I got a DSC compatable one. I have registered the unit and set it up with my dsc number. now that I have it all set up I dont use it, do any of you guys use it? if I was to start using it is it realy worth having?
  19. in my last boat (runabout) I installed a cheap sanyo car stereo in a plastic housing. the stereo only lasted about 5 or 6 years before it started to play up. it was only a AM/FM, tape player of course the tape player was only good for about 12 months untill the salt air took its toll. For speakers I still recomend the marine speakers For entenna I used the band splitter attached to the 27mhz antenna worked excellent for radio and did not effect the 27meg radio. (now using a band splitter on vhf in my new boat). band splitter, housing & speakers all come from bias or similar boating store, the stereo I used was from a strathfield chuck out table!

    Members Boats.

This is mine, Stessco 610 centre cabin powered by a 150 Honda.
  21. HI Hooked up Ive now had my STESSCO 610 centre cab for about 18 months and still loving it. mostly offshore now days and the boat handles it well, last boat was 475 stacer that was great (kept in imaculate condition in garage when ever not in use & like new at 11 years old) but when it come to upgrading at 11 year old the stacer dealer offered very little and for the $ compared to the stessco I would have only got very little. Ive found faults with both neither are perfect but if I had the chance again I would buy another stessco I have found them excellent value for money.
  22. Mostly fish the 12 mile reef, the peak and from cronulla to the harbour and beyond depending on conditions. Mixed trowling, botom bashing and jigging The boat is 6mtr plate centre cab with 150 honda all just gone 12 months old. Preferably some one from Campbelltown area or to meet near Campbelltown. Not get sea sick. Can last the day on a boat without alcohol and not be hung over (drugs and alcohol dont mix with water) Able to help with launch and retreive (reverse trailer a big advantage) bring your own food and share bait & running costs (dont panic its very economical) anything other then that is optional. I have enough gear for the basics. After all that is time tp relax & a chat with a beer PM for reply

    Ice Boxes

HI Jed Ive had a techniice 100ltr for about 3 years now they dont have the best looking finnish but do the job very well. Im happy with mine use it for camping in mid summer and it holds the ice realy well also great for parties. Dont make same mistake as I did, I bought the 100ltr thinking bigger the better but now wish I got around 60 ltr as the 100 is too big for our family of 3 takes up too much room when traveling and cant be moved when full. I was not impressed with the techniice ice packs, realy no better then any other ice brick and because they are supplied with gel crystel inside and you fill them with water through small pin holes in the pack that cant be sealed they never stop leaking. They leak a slimmy liquid very suspicious on meat and extremely uncomfortable on a stubby.
