Gday snag Mate not wrong, good to do something for the river. As for eating them you wouldn't believe it but a bloke who had been fishing for them that day brought his in laws down and asked if they could take the fish. No worries, saved me getting rid of it. Hi All Took the little girl for a fish down the nepean this afternoon. After about 40 minutes one of the rods buckled and I was into a fight with a carp. My daughter absolutely cracked me up as she grabbed the net as soon as I picked the rod up! Good girl! A gentleman watching decided as the fish looked as big as her (she's 6) he'd better do the honours. Thanks to his mate who took the photo - he could have waited until the constipated look disappeared off my face though! He stuffed a big corn bait (about 10 kernels), and it was probably the best fight I have had with a carp, had a number of good runs. Cheers Tommy G

Had a bit of a go yesterday arvo Ben on the surface lure and got two, one a little smaller in size to the one I got on the spinner and the other one was about the same size as the jitterbug I was using!!! Shows how aggresive the species are doesn't it? I had about 6 other hits but no hookups unfortunately.. TG

G'day Raiders Headed down the nepean yesterday arvo for a bass session. Bought a cheap arse betts spinner bait (green grub) to try and what do you know third cast and this fella in the picture smashed it. Only around 25cms but he hit it hard. Interestingly the first part of his dorsal fin was missing - not sure if he was mauled by something or a defect. Didn't affect his hunger though Moved along the bank and after not getting anything else and the sun setting changed to a jitterbug. Cast along the edge and had the thing absolutely smashed, but no hook up. Went there again and same, again no hook up. Bugger, oh well first bass nailed for the season and the first I've ever got on a spinnerbait. Cheers Tommy G

G'day Mariner Yeah you do get some filthy big eels in there, hooked a fairly large one a couple of weeks back using worms. As for the boating side of things all I know of is the boat ramp at Tench reserve. Gee those carp get massive in europe don't they! TG

Hi All Had a few hours to kill last Friday so decided to stay local and head to the nepean. After a failed bass session a few days earlier (still reckon it might be a bit early) I decided to do the river a favour and try to extract a carp or two. So I picked up a tin of the trusty edgells corn kernels and down I went. After an hour without a touch I suddenly had an enquiry on one of the two rods, the rod didn't exactly buckle so first thought was eel, cattie or maybe a small carp. Upon striking I felt a fair bit of weight and I think the big fella realised what was happening and took off, the reel then started screaming. After 5 or 6 minutes and a couple of runs and some resistance to come to the surface I netted this fat, ugly behemoth. I've seen longer carp but he had a gut on him! Anyway didn't get another enquiry so packed her up. After having a bit of fun catching this guy I decided to head again today (Monday) and once again after about 40 minutes with nothing I started to get a few little touches and a more solid enquiry, still not a massive buckle but again a good fish went for a run. Sorry for the pic quality but forgot the camera and the girlfriend took the pic on my crappy phone..He was probably as long if not longer than the other one but not as fat Cheers Tommy G

Hey mate How's the water quality there now? Got told that eating the trout from there can be a risky proposition? Being from Penrith it would be a little bit closer to go than lyell Cheers TG

G'day Dan Generally a sinker which then allows the bait to float a bit off the bottom. For two reasons - generally most of our sessions have mostly been middle of the day when the fish go deeper and we also found with a float the conditions have been quite windy at times which plays havoc a bit. In saying that I'm fairly new at this trout caper so as the weather gets warmer I'll hit the area again to try a few things. Cheers TG

Gday mate Was definately a day trip, no bloody way I'd camp there this time of year! No schools of goldfish that I've seen, but read someone else say they saw some at the farmers creek area of the lake

G'day Roffo 3 different types of the Gulp putty, two fish on the rainbow variety, one on the chunky cheese variety and one on the bright orange variety. I've caught them on the powerbait nuggets before and also the bright green putty on previous trips hence taking a variety - especially if you're settling in for a big session! Cheers Tommy

Yeah Hoges looks like it, there were patches where puddles were visible as well as weed, mud, snags etc. Definately tell the water had receeded.

Hi Raiders After a couple of fairly good trips previously I decided to brave the freezing cold weather and took a trip with Mr A to Lake Lyell. It was bloody windy in the morning with a chill factor of -3 but after it settled down around lunchtime we managed to get a couple of fish. Nothing massive but a feed was had.. Nice and warm...not Bit of overkill! Ha ha ha 35cm rainbow 27cm Rainbow Mr A also picked up two more fish around the 20cm mark which of course went back. Stuffed the others with bacon pieces, feta and spinach and baked 'em whole. Tasty! Cheers Tommy G

Think I've fished that spot a couple of times before kingies, only really ever pulled Catfish out of it. Don't think I'll be crossing the weir for a month or two yet, waiting a few weeks for the big bass to head back. Might give the carp a go next week though
