  1. Great Kings! Top spot to be spending the holidays! Where abouts in JB did you get them???
  2. G'Day Dan, If it's yakkas you are after in the bay head around Molli Point and follow the break wall all the way down to the end which is Yarra Bay. Just off the wall, about 100 or so meters along the shore line, you will see a rocky outcrop. Anchor about 20-30m off this in about 3m of water over a sandy patch, burley up and there are yakka's galore (when the little sweep down infest the place first). Hope that helps. Gav
  3. Thanks to everyone for your advice! Cant wait to get down there and give it a go!
  4. Hi guys, a mate and I are looking at taking our boats down to Narooma/Bermagui in the coming weeks to try something new. He has a Barcrusher 610c and I have a Seafarer V Sea so we are pretty confident on heading outside. We were just wondering if anyone had any hints or tips for us as to what we might be able to get this time of year and how far we would have to head out to get into the action. We are both keen to get hold of some good kingies but understand that it's not really kingie season. Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks raiders!
  5. Busy day out off the national park in my Dad's new Seafarer. Drifted in 10m of water off the beach at Wattamolla for about 70 flat head ranging in size with the biggest coming in at just under 60cm. Stocked the freezer up with about 12 of the bigger ones and the rest went back to live another day. Also picked up a really nice Flounder. After getting sick of catching Flatties, headed back towards Jibbon and managed to get a 67cm Kingy and a couple of others dropped. Sorry, no photo's, the camera decided to go on strike.
  6. Awesome fish mate! Anything else on offer down there? I love the banks! Thinking of heading down in the next couple of weeks.
  7. Hi guys, In all my searchings on the net I constantly come across the ulladulla "kingfish grounds" but I am yet to find them! I have a co-ord for them but when i have travelled out there I haven't even found any form of structure let alone anything remotely fishy! I have found a spot of Ulladulla that seems to hold good numbers of kings but it isn't located anywhere near this "kingfish ground". I was just wondering if anyone might be able to give me any hints on how/where to find these grounds. Cheers, Gav.
  8. Spent 4 days in Ulladulla from Monday through to Thursday of last week. Due to the poor weather we only managed to get the boat out on the Wednesday afternoon. Took off out of Ulladulla harbour about 1130 to catch the 1pm high tide. Found some schools of Bonito on the surface in about 60m of water so had some fun with that. There was a bit showing on the sounder down deep so we thought we would have a jig. Ended up jigging for the best part of 5 hours (very sore the next morning!). Much to our suprise we landed around 12 rat kings all of about 60cm. Some of the fattest 60cm kings I have ever seen so they are obviously eating well down there! Catch of the day went to my mate Luke who landed 2 kings on the one jig on his second retrive! unbelievable! Also managed to get onto a few rather large barracuda which was good fun, the biggest going about 75cm. Sorry, no photo's due to not wanting to take the camera out in the rain. Water temp still very low with 15 degrees and the occassional 16 degree patch. Typically, can't fish Thursday as we have to get back home early because one of the guys has to work and the weather is a sunny 27 degrees with not a breath of wind and no swell to be seen! lucky we had a good afternoon on the Wednesday otherwise I would have been spewing!
  9. We didnt end up getting out off JB through the week due to the poor weather. Managed to get an afternoon fish off ulladulla on Wednesday. Jigged in 60m of water for around 12 rat kings all around 60cm (they were some of the fattest rats I have ever seen so they are obviously well fed), a hand full of bonito and some big barracuda. Water temp was only 15 degree so we are thinking we were pretty lucky to get as much as we did. The ocean was alive with whales, dolphins and seals which always makes for an entertaining trip.
  10. heading down to J.B and Kioloa next week for a long over due fish. Anyone have any news?

Take your squid jigs!! Plenty of squis over the weed beds near the ramp. Good luck.

  11. Kingy Slayer, Just wondering if you got out to the banks and block and cheese on the weekend? if so, did you have anyluck??? heading down with a few mates this weekend and we are trying to work out our plan of attack! Cheers...
  12. Fished the Bay on several occassions now and not once have we had a nice boating day! The winds can pick up quick and conditions on the bay can get pretty hairy at times. Had a very close call with a breaker of long nose point last time we were out there so as always, stay very aware! As for accomodation, there are plenty of great places to stay that are at a good price. Personally I prefer a little place (I cant remember the name of it) which is on the street named "The Triangle" at Culburra. Short drive to a great ramp, short walk to the shops and the RSL and best of all a short motor out to the Banks. It is also only a 15-20 minute drive around to Myola if you'd prefer to put the boat in the actual bay rather than going outside.
  13. Great point! Hopefully we can prove this on thursday! Hoping the wind holds off so we can get out to the banks and give it a crack. Looks like the temps are up out there. Here's hoping 4th trip is the lucky trip!
  14. We often pick up some nice flatties and bream in between the oil warf and the kurnell captain cook monument on the run in tide on plastics. also have found the drift from yarra bay along molli point to be fruitful at times! Good luck!
