  3. Hi all! Recently my friend bought a boat, which means we will be out on the water hunting for the bigguns. My question is what's the best way to rig a livie? (without the aid of a downrigger). Also, do you hook them through the shoulder, the mouth or just above the anal fin? I know some fish attack head first and others tail first. Cheers in advance. P.S Happy and safe Australia Day to all.
  4. Give Woronora River a go. (just opposite the RSL). Theres a big park there to play footy, cricket etc and also has swings. Public toilets are available and ample picnic area. Caught some nice size flatty and bream from there. Mullet are swimming around too, which are fun for the kids to catch. Burley up with bread. Good luck and safe holidays.
  5. G'Day all!! Saturday morning had a nice feel about it. Woke up at 3.30am, had a cup of coffee and two pieces of toast. Picked up my mate, who lives nearby, at 4.00am and then headed off to another mates house which all 3 of us piled into his car and with the boat in tow, we were on the road to the Hawkesbury soon after. Got into the water at 6.00am with low tide at 9.30am. First we tried Sylvena Cove coz we had some success there previously, but this time we had no such luck. With the tide just about to turn we though we'd try a different spot. So we dropped anchor near the marker at Eleanors Beach, just off the point. Fished the first hour or two of the run-in tide using pilchards. Then all of a sudden BANG! I was off. Caught a 43cm flattie. My mate then decided he wanted to move coz of the boat traffic, so we stopped in at the railway bridge. Not long after I was on again. Another flattie, but this one was a personal best 52cm. Woo Hoo!!!!! I was wrapped. Anyways, we left about 2pm and overall had a great day. Oh yeah dinner was delicious too. Safe holidays to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Hitting the Hawkesbury early Sat morning with a couple of mates. Good luck to all, and safe holidays.
  7. Congrats on the catch. What was your setup for the squid? Float, downrigger.....?
  8. Nice hook up! Funny you should mention this. A mate and I were out fishing at Como last night, and the exact same thing happened to him. Was just about to land it, then the shake of the head and it was gone. Oh well, these things happen. Better luck next time buddy.
  9. During Chrissy, probably just the rivers. But in Feb ive organised a houseboat on the hawkesbury for 4 days with a few mates. Cannot wait for that one.
  10. I usually dont have my drag on too tight. Ill let it run for a bit then tighten the drag and go for the strike. But then again, thats just me.
  11. Well you know what i meant? Haha. I reckon the rats had eaten through the bottom. Yeah, they sure look pretty alright. Cheers Stevo. I cant believe how nice everyone on here are.
  12. Good work. Im yet to try plastics properly. Your story has inspired me to get out there and give it a go. Hope your luck continues.
  13. Hey guys. It was 5:15am on Saturday morning. I had just arrived at my mates house whose boat was ready to go. Not long after, we left for the Hawkesbury River. We hit the water just before 7 and the gleaming sunrise was an indication of a fine day. We decided to fish in Jerusalem Bay, not too far from the entrance. The tide was starting to run out. One of my mates began the day with a few baby snapper. But the rest of us were quiet. Until about 1/2 hour later, my other mate (who owns the boat) had his pilchard smashed by a 49cm flattie. He insisted I get the landing net, but who knew it had a hole in it? The fish went straight through, but luckily it didnt un-hook itself and we ended up landing it. Phew!!! Not long after, I got onto a baby jewey using prawns, about 30 cms in size. Back she goes! My mates son caught a 47cm jewey 20 mins after me. I was dirty on him. LOL. But at the end of the day we all had heaps of fun. Cant wait to go again.

    Acdc New Album!

I love the new ac/dc album. Its fresh and has some catchy tunes. Its gonna be pretty hard to get tickets when they come out, but that wont stop me from trying. Speaking of old rock bands, I might go see the Angels with Rose Tattoo at Selinas next Saturday. I havent been there in ages. Should be a top gig.
