It was a great comp Myself and Neil Kelly came 16th We only caught 7 bream for the weekend but the bycatch was good with 2 whiting over 40cm caught on TT switchblades as well as smaller whiting flatties to 60cm tarwhine and trevally

That happens on a regular basis with their podcasts.
Not sure why but maybe they don't upload them to the server properly.
Sometimes when I've downloaded them from the 2KY site, they are written up as been 42meg but only download 1kb and a corrupt file.

Been listening to the podcast for a while now.
Especially good if you sleep through it and miss some of the better and more knowledgable/realistic reports and info which are usually on after 5am.
You can also have the benefit of "fast forwarding" through the rubbish.............

Lyell will be a bit slow for a while now but that's normal and to be expected for this time of year.
I've been using Powerbait for many years now and it is certainly good for rainbows but not much else unfortunately.
Nice Rainbow breamhntr,Bit of a concern was the huge schools of goldfish up where the Cox's river meets Farmers creek.
Yes they are of concern but considering goldfish (koi, carp) have been swimming there since even I started fishing Lyell in the mid to late eighties, it could be worse.
I remember seeing goldfish swimming around in all the streams in Lithgow when I was living there in the eighties, it's definately a shame.
Even Wenty lake had the buggers swimming around in it when I was a kid and also the creek flowing in and out of it.

Yes it is Roffo you need to have a few pool cue racks installed in the lounge room so your rods look need and the wont notice them so much

Like hell she won't notice.
I'm currently in the backroom/computer room/fishing room and guess what? Wifey has told me to clean up.
16 rods, 3 tackle boxes, tackle bags, shopping bags full of plastics, hats, beanies etc were all put where I knew they would always be.
Not now, all nice and hairy fairy tidy.

I do and I also remember it been cheaper than that.
Funny people us humans, I wonder how many people remember shopping around for cheaper fuel prices even back when it was 60c/lt or cheaper???
Nothings changed really.
Personally, I don't complain about fuel prices that much. I chose to own a boat, a 4WD and a couple of cars for work transport, so be it.
We pay a high price for the everyday items like fuel, bread, milk, grog, cigga's etc and there's not much we can do really except keep paying for what we use/want.

Great report there.
BTW, Lyell has a few rainbows on offer.
I went there yesterday and picked up five in four hours of trolling, also dropped about the same amount.
They were really fiesty and jumped out and danced up to six times on occasions.
All fat, full of row and full of 3" gudgeons and all caught in the same area.

Location: Shellharbour - Ramp situated at the end of Towns Street, Shellharbour.
Parking/condition: Ample parking at the ramp and surrounding area. Summer time is busy.
Plenty of room for launching, and preparing.
*Main car park is locked at 9.00pm and reopened at 5.00am. Motorists who are locked in after hours can contact the councils sercurity contractors on 0416 276 313.
Facilities: Good ramp for heading out off Shellharbour and areas off southern Wollongong.
Good amenities such as toilets etc are located at/near the ramp as well as BBQ facilities and a play area for the kiddies.
Has a fish cleaning table as well as boat wash down area, which from what I saw, was in use - I'd recommend to check first.
Shops close by include takeaways, bait/tackle etc and situated within walking distance.

Facilities: Good ramp for exploring the eastern parts of Lake Illawarra.

Has a fish cleaning table also.
Shops close by include takeaways, chemist and bait/tackle etc and situated within walking distance.

I wouldn't say it was pregnant but I would more definately say it is probably full of food.

I have two batteries in my boat, a standard Supercharge marine and a Supercharge Allrounder.
Also have an Allrounder in my 4WD.
The best thing I find is to just rotate the batteries around from car to boat.
Takes all but 5 minutes to swap one over for another and it certainly helps with battery life and keeps things charged all the time.
or
you could go and spend around a few hundred or more on a decent solar panel, although five minutes of ones spare time each fortnight or so may be more financially rewarding.

I only listen so I can hear your reports as well as Glen's reports, which have me keen to get back up to the lake.
I only really fish up there now between late March and late October so May sounds good. See how I go as it gets closer.
Is it an outdoor activity for the Seabees?

Would have been this morning if I didn't have to go to Riverstone to pick up a diesel tank for the father in-laws cattle truck.

Had a quick fish up around Camden this morning. Managed to land a couple of fish and drop a few more.
The fishing seems to have slowed up a bit after all the rain, hopefully that will change when the river clears a bit more.
Does anyone no when the Bass start heading back down river to spawn? Just trying to figure out if i should be fishing further up river after all the rain.

Good looking bass there.
In past years I have fished locally around Camden up until late May.
The last few seasons has seen a big reduction in water and not a lot of fish would have went down stream, especially when there was a bad hole in one of the weirs down from Camden.
This year could be different due to good rainfalls over summer and less irrigation and the prospect of good rains over the next few months.
If this keeps up I would maybe expect the bass to start schooling up at around late March, give or take a week or two and then they will start the swim down stream soon after.
I've usually found late Feb to mid/late March a great time for catching bass locally as they are feeding up for the swim down and the shrimp are usually quite prolific and where you find the shrimp you will find bass.
Don't let the bass migration stop you from fishing locally 'cos there are plenty of resident fish that don't make it and stay behind.

I personally can't feel the vibrations on sx 40s and have a hard time staying in contact with these small lures ,even on 4 lb braid.
The bib is small and doesnt afford a lot of action IMHO .
Just my thoughts and I do have a fair few of these lures in my tackle box ,but dont use them often.

Don't chuck 'em Stewy. The trout love 'em.
I troll them and the 48s' at around 3 - 4 knots and they never fail me.
Mind you, they're a bloody expensive trout lure when compared to a 4 dollar 90cm rainbow trout coloured Frenzy. Trout smash these things like there's no tomorrow.
As for the SX40's, (except the high gloss ones) I wouldn't pay any more than $15 each for them.

Lead Melting Pot

Just wondering if any of you have had anything to do with lead melting pots and in particular the "Lee Production Pot IV"?
I'm sick of ladling the lead into my molds and would rather have a melting pot that has the outlet underneath like the Lee has.
Also, if you do own one, is it possible to take the base off and put a spacer in to raise the height up about an inch or more?
My moulding machine has a height of roughly 4 5/8" (roughly 117.5mm) but once I put it on tracks to automatically place the mould/press in position under the pot tap, it could be around the 5" - 5 1/4" high (roughly 127 - 133.5mm).
Next question, does anybody know of dealers, be it gun shops, tackle shops and/or craft type shops that may sell the Lee melting pots? Preferably around westen and south western Sydney although I'm willing to travel further afield if need be and also willing to purchase interstate for the right price.
I'm looking at online shops in the US but from what I can work out so far, it isn't working out much cheaper to buy o/s. That is unless someone else knows of other reputable online shops (use pm or email system for that info). I've tried the usual haunts.
