    Buying Bulk

Nitro (www.nitrofishing.com.au) have bulk packs - 20 or 24 a pack. Don't know whether that covers your definition of "bulk" though! Otherwise try ebay.com.au.

    I'm Buying A Poly!

My Poly arrives on Tuesday from Bundaberg :ohyeh:
  4. Hi Folks, Well I have been fishing my Sustain 1000 regularly since I got it about 6 months ago now, and at the moment it's a little low on line and I noticed what appears to be black corrosive holes appearing on the spool, a couple of millimeters in from the lip of the spool where I wouldn't normally see it if there was more line on it (the usual up to 2mm from the edge of the lip). I wash down the reel in fresh water after EVERY session, but I presume that the Fireline retains some saltwater deeper into the spool and that this might be the cause. Is this normal? Or am I not blasting the reel with enough fresh? (I usually just trickle fresh over it thoroughly because I heard blasting water onto it can drive salt/dirt into the reel). I'll try to post a photo tomorrow night, I'm not sure I have explained this too well :confusuion: Wakd.

    I'm Buying A Poly!

Thats one of the great things about Polycraft - apparently it only takes 3 hours for them to mould a hull. The four week wait is basically because I'm waiting for a full shipment of them so I can save $ on the freight. I could pay a couple of hundred more and have it delivered sooner if I wanted to. You don't get anywhere near that type of turnaround on ally or glass hulls...

    I'm Buying A Poly!

Thanks guys. Yep, I've seen pics of yours Steveo. Thanks for the advice, I was thinking getting a casting deck seat would make it easier to drive the electric foot control while casting, but it was going to require some messing around to install it, so maybe I'll rethink - I'm used to land based fishing on my feet, when I do occassionally fish sitting down it feels weird. Was it a big job to plumb the livewell up the front? I spose I could do that and use the other side for the deep cycle battery/PFDs. Polycraft are putting in the extra seat (passenger next to console), and shortening one of the bow rails to make space for the electric, everything else is going to be done by the dealer and me in Sydney, so I can do a better assessment of my options when it gets down here. 9. Well folks, after missing out on non-boater spots at the last two socials, I thought stuff it, I'm buying a boat. Thats not actually my only reasoning for getting a boat, but it sounds good! Anyway, the order went through today for a white Polycraft 4.1m Challenger side console w/ Suzuki 50hp 4-stroke. WOOHOO! Will be throwing a Minn Kota on the front, and a seat mount on the front casting deck. Should be here in 4 weeks or so - if you want to help me out, go order one yourself, I'm getting a very good deal on the freight, because it won't come down until there is a full truckload, so the more Polys ordered for Sydney the quicker I'll get it! There is a "bait box" in the stern, and talking to the dealer he said it would be easy to fit an aerator in there, so I could fill it with seawater and aerate it, however is this good enough for bream comps? Or do I need a fully plumbed livewell? Because that will be a much bigger job (ie $$$) to fit a pump/sprayer in there. Unfortunately, I don;t think it will be ready for the Georges SP day, but should be right for the next one (is there a venue for that yet?). Wakd.

    What Size Leccy?

Just wondering what size leccy I'll need to power my new boat. Here it is: http://www.wally.com/jumpch.asp?idChannel=...er=0&attivo=2-4 http://www.robbreport.com/Articles/Wings-W...-Power-Play.asp]http://www.robbreport.com/Articles/Wings-W...-Power-Play.asp
  11. In addition to what Swoffa said, if you fish at night a lot (like I do), fluoro line is essential. I just switched from Fireline flame green to the pink, and I think for me at least the green is easier to see at night (although the pink isn't that much harder to see). I'd like to give the new Squidgy braid a shot, but won't until the fluoro blue comes out - the grey would be just too hard to see in low light.

    K-mart Sale

Hi Folks, Just wanted to let everyone know that K-Mart is having their 25% off rods, reels and combos/20% off all tackle sale at the moment. They also (at Burwood at least) have new stock of flame Fireline and Vanish (new improved version). Unfortunately they don''t have 4lb Fireline :-mad2 . They have 6lb up to 20lb in flame only (no smoke or pink). With the current sale I got some Fireline (8lb) for $18.40 and 8lb Vanish for $15.20. After my "incident" yesterday (see lure reports) I was a bit torm between getting 8lb or 10lb Vanish, or 9lb Penn 10x. I have heard some bad reports about Vanish too, but the "new improved" stuff has hopefully solved the weak knots problem I have heard about. Anyway, will try out the 8lb Vanish as leader and see how it goes - it should be less visible than the 6lb Penn 10x that I normally use at least. Wakd
  13. Kazaa Lite or Kazaa Lite Ressurection are both free and spyware free. Just a matter of finding a reliable source to download them from...BitTorrent is very good and spyware free too.... Aside from "dodgy" programs though, your best bet is to have auto updates for Windows on, use a solid firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware, don''t use Outlook or Internet Explorer and run scans regularly. With all that, its not suprising that the average "Mum and Dad" user''s machine is riddled with virus/malware/spyware. I read an article the other day that said a regular Windows XP SP1 machine connected to the net without a firewall will be compromised within 20 minutes. This is down from an average of an hour one year ago. Wakd
  14. I just wanted to re-iterate what Ken has said - Ad Aware and Spybot are essential tools. As for browsers, Mozilla Firefox absolutely blows Internet Explorer out of the water for speed and functionality (pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, heaps of handy extensions, inline (ie non pop-up) ad blocking): http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ try it and see. Mozilla Thunderbird is Mozillas mail client, and is also excellent - it is also much more secure than Outlook: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ I''''''''m pretty evangelical abuot Mozillas products, cause I''''''''m a web developer, and am sick to death of having to work around Explorers multitude of bugs. The more people I can convert to Firefox the better! And aside from that, the much better security on Firefox/Thunderbird saves me from having to fix all my friends machines when they get compromised by malware/virii. Wakd.

    Walking Worms

If you have a look around the net, you''ll find that most people who bought them are less than impressed. Some examples I found were: "Best way to use a walking worm is walk away from them. Take them out of your tackle box and make room for something that works." "the worm has a curling action when it is still. im sure you already know this. it takes about 5 seconds for it to happen then it quits moving. when it stops twitch the worm again to start the action over. i hope you have better luck than i had with it." "sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you have just wasted your money and you are about to waste your time fishing them. " "I think that this bait is absolutley awful.. I would never recomend this waste of plastic" There was one or two positive reviews among the hundreds of negatives though... For more: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=fishing%...F-8&sa=N&tab=wg Speaking of worms though, anyone seen the new Berkley Bungee worm over here yet? http://www.cabelas.com/products/Cpod0023237.jsp
