  2. does anyone have a link for the news report or better still the video?? Im very fascinated by these massive carnivores
  3. i was out there that day too, i didn't catch any kingies, i was using some squids i had frozen up from about 1 month ago. I also used yabbies. We also caught about 4 flatties, a leather jacket and some snappers. It was a slow morning. The harbour was beautiful and so was the weather. Great to see the young kids learning fishing techniques. Well done Happy new year
  4. Fantastic report and excellent catch. well done!! In fishing, the unexpected is always welcome. Well done
  5. i have a symetre 2500 and i think its one of the best value for money reel i have bought.
  6. yeh there is toilets there, near the carpark on the way to the fishing area.
  7. well pollution has been on the rise too, is it a good idea to ban driving a car in areas where there is more pollution for 10 years?? the idea of banning fishing from such a wide area is absurd! When i first heard of this proposition i honestly thought it was a joke. Whos idea was this?? who ever it was, im sure this person never goes fishing with his kids or family, because he doesn't know what effect this will have on families that love fishing
  8. berkley vanish does the job for me. Cheap and reliable. bigw sells it.
  9. thats bull crap! the guy didnt like the name of your boat so he stole it and tried to dump it! i would buy 3 other boats and call them even worse names like "up yours", "get flucked", "mother father" get cheapies and dump them all around the front of his house. and i cant believe the cops did nothing!! glad to hear that you got your boat back in one piece though, but if i was in your place mate i wouldnt take that lightly. if my neighbour stole my boat because of something like that and actually damaged it......you dont wanna hear what i would do, i tell ya! Happy fishing.
  10. thats weird, i cant stop it from turning the other way, how the hell did you discover this?
  11. all the best, sounds like a nice outfit.
  12. hi josh i fish for squid all the time. I mostly catch arrow squid. I just cooked some the other day, big ones and small ones. what you have to do when cooking it is shallow fry it and make sure the oil is hot before you put them in. This is because you dont want it sitting in the oil to cook for too long, then you get a really strong oil taste, it doesnt over power the squid taste but it will get a bit annoying. I batter them, and shallow fry them, and eat them with a salad. The best meal i reckon. Nothing taste better than fresh squid(arrow or calamari). I also keep all the guts and skin and even the head, i keep a freezer bag for them, and every time i clean squid i add the remains to the bag. The guts and stuff can be used for burley and the heads can be used for bait. Squid head is apparently excellent bait.
  13. tackle hates. (good topic) 1.Tackle shops that sell crap. They know its crap, people complain about, it breaks easily, but they still stock it 2.Tackle bags. 99% are crap. rusting zippers that break and pointless compartments. waste of material. 3.Tackle boxes that break and allow tackle to move around when box is shaken. its 2008 and they're still crap! 4.Rod holders that are too vertical. It looks dumb, they aren't practical, but they are still manufactured. 5.knots that you spend 15minutes trying to untangle only to cut it in the end when your eyes are blood shot. 6.fishing scissors, Why don't they all come with a neck strap so they are more practical & easy to use not loose Unfortunately some tackle shops are like $2 shops selling complete junk. Others have the dumbest staff on the face of the earth to help you choose expensive items and make important decisions. why are they employed if they don't know anything about tackle?? but when i hear the sweet sound of drag zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i forget everything and get caught in the zone
  14. hi, i have a magma stainless steel charcoal bbq, with the connection that mounts onto a rail. Its the round ones .I have never used it yet, and was planning on using it this summer. I know fish straight from the water on the BBQ is the best taste you can get, nothing beats it, its fresh and juicy, that's why i bought it. The mounting bracket is designed to mount the bbq about 30cm away from the boat, so the bbq is above the water, and away from the boat. has anyone used this bbq before? are they safe? is it difficult to start the charcoal bbq? and when the bbq is overhanging like designed and the boat is driving, does this present a problem for the bbq and its contents? can they fall out or anything? all advice is appreciated
  15. congrats on that marvelous lizard mate. nice picute of her going back to the harbour unharmed. good job
