  3. G'day Lachlan In the lagoon you can catch whiting, flathead, and last christmas my son even caught a small jew, great fun on small gear. You can pump nippers in the lagoon too these are great bait some guys try plastics but i haven't had much luck with them. My best advice would be to keep your gear as light as possible. Hope you get into some
  4. I have seen one of these washed up on the breakwall up at Harrington. Great sight up close but someone came up with the bright idea of using a forklift to move it but as soon as the forks pierced the whale an almighty stenchded came out and cleared the breakwall in seconds. The smell traveled all through the town and caravan park. I'll never forget that one. They ended up burying that one in the sand dunes.
  5. Mate My advice to you would be don't fish the rocks. After the first wave you should have learnt a lesson and gone home. You say you want to go and try again in summer. doesn't sound like you learnt much of a lesson. If you can't read the surf you shouldn't be any where near the rocks. Stay on the sand and stay safe.
  6. I use a FG Knot because it is not bulky and i like to wind it up through the guides onto the reel. A bit tricky to tie but with practise gets easier. I will be trying some of the other on here as well. Good thread Anthony
  7. Hi Raiders Anyone know where i might be able to get some free pictures or art good enough to turn into stickers. I tried google but files are to small ?? Thanks Anthony
  8. Hey Mal Should have thrown that one back. Anth
  9. Harrington beach is a great beach to catch your beach worms It can be addictive and sometimes we spend more time worming than fishing only because its fun. even my kids have caught them. When heading from Harrington to Crowdy there is a small car park on your right, park there with a small walk to beach and you'll find heaps of beach worms there. It's closer to crowdy head than to Harrington. Good Luck Anthony

  15. Hi all Can anyone tell me the best place to get parts for a shimano TLD20. I want to replace the drag washers but wouldn't mind if someone could look over it and tell me if it needs anything else. I heard there is a shimano store around caringbah which i might be able to bring it to and have them take a look over it. If anyone knows address or phone number that would be appreciated. Thanks Anthony

  20. Just wanted to share this photo of a tail of a Marlin washed up on Avoca Beach It was about 5ft long Must have been sharked i'm guessing. Can anyone confirm that it is a Marlin and possibly which type.

  22. G'day david Those cleats will do the trick. I'm not a fan of braid as for what line class to use anything from 10kg to 24kg I use 10kg mono with a wind on leader of 60ld this will account for 90% of your fish. I've caught kings to bluefin on this combo but am going to up my line class to 15kg because i've been drilled by real big kings once to many times this season. Tight lines Anthony
  23. Hi david88 nice day on the stones. If you want to fish live yakkas the best way is to pin him just in front of the top fin not to deep or you will kill him, keep the hook above the lateral line. It really doesn't have to be deep. Don't use any weight and fix your float at about 10feet. This way the bait free swims. fixing the float stops the bait from being pulled right up to the float. If you hook a king you'll know about it, you won't be playing it because it will pull like a train and head for structure and it's all over before you know it. Good luck and hope you get into some kings Make sure you get some proper footwear. Tight lines Anthony
  24. Boy you've left your self open for this one. Thats one butt ugly Ray youve got there. Great morning well done Mate. Cheers Anthony.
  25. couldn't get out on the rocks because of the swell, so i took my son on the Brisbane waters off Green Point, in a tinnie. It was low tide so we had to pull the tinnie over the weed beds then row out. Talk about hard work. We anchored up and started fishing. i put a rod out with a slab of mullet on it hoping for a blue swimmer. Caught plenty of small fish, the usual bream, whiting, snapper. The rod with the mullet starts to go so i pick it up and slowly pull up a big blue swimmer and reach over for the net and my son says can i net it, very reluctantly i hand the net to him thinking this will be a great experience for him. I tried to coach him on what to do but he couldn't hold back the excitement and had a swipe at it and watched as it floated back into the deep. We had a bit of a laugh about it but he was very disappointed. It started to rain lightly but we persisted and he caught a flathead 40cm good effort. The ran got heavier and before we knew it we couldn't see the other side of the water and we still had to row back. Great memories for him. Great fun
