  1. Thanks for the accurate identification. (They are related to stonefish at least) More so to scorpion fish and do have venomous spines as opposed to poisonous. Some say good eating but I would rather throw back.
  2. Went out in the Bay a few weeks ago for a quick fish, when my son hooked onto a Stonefish. I was quite surprised as thought they were only located around barrier reef and tropical waters. Did some research and found that they can come down as far as Northern N.S.W. Only mention I could find of any around Botany Bay, was a U.K. dive website that photographed one at Voodoo. Are they now common down this way? If so, just like to point out to other anglers who may mistake them for something else, that they are regarded as the most poisonous fish in the world. So be careful.
  3. Was out there last Tuesday during the day and there were workers when I went out and when I came back, so felt that my car was quite safe. But as you pointed out, would not be so confident during night time. Would also be interested if anyone has any stories of actual break-ins or damage. Cheers.
  4. Forget the laws, what happened to common sense. Last time in the Georges, skiing, had a person in the water, when a jetboat with about 5 guys showing off their zig-zaging and speed (would have been about 60k's) aimed straight for the skier, only to change course within 30mts. Not sure if it was deliberate and they thought it was safe to do so, or they just didn't see the person, but for a second my heart stopped. In any case they should have seen my boat which was about 25mts further away and stayed well clear. Not to mention the jetskier that raced past me within 10mts whilst anchored at Como. They thought it was so Cool.
  5. Having a problem with the speedo on my Yamaha 60hp. I first traced the problem to a foreign object within the pickup hole in the lower leg of the motor. Next time I took it out, worked fine for about 15kms, then freezed. Blocked again! Blow the line out again with a compressor, and next time worked fine again for only 20 or so k's. Have not had one outing where the speedo has worked the whole day. Has anyone had the same problem and are there any fixes? Tks
  6. What a great idea! Will try that next time. I would have assumed that the white light supplied by the boat builder would be compliant. Mine is also about 600mm and is obstructed from the front by the cuddy.
  7. Got to be happy with that lot. Been trying B.B. for crabs for a while now but end up with nil. Any advice with catching them? Last try was off Towra Pt using Mullet on run out tide. Tks.
  8. Sounds like great day out. I saw the same DVD just the other day, so am itching to try it out also. They suggest Sp's at least 150mm + to land the bigger fish that won't take the smaller plastic. Saw another program on T.V. using the same on Black Jewfish, just off Nth. Qld from memory.
  9. Hi Raiders, Great topic! and better still great site. Been looking at Fishraider site for almost 2 years now but only just signed up. So first post: For those of us that love tubing and skiing with the kids, any suggestions as to reducing chance of upsetting these things? Obviously not after sunset and early morning, but any other info would help, areas to avoid etc. Cheers!
