not to long ago i spotted a couple of blokes catching all sorts of undersize fish, then quickly filleting them and THEN mincing them through a grinder thingie .. i called 1800 043 536 (i think thats the number for the fisheries)......they got there about 1 and a half hours later and the unsavoury characters had already left.
i didnt want to approach them because they were big blokes and looked a bit backward in terms to our australian law and I thought the illigal fishing phone number for fisheries was set up to SWIFTLY deal with incidents such as this one... i suppose
i wonder why they would want to take undersize fish and mince them lol, im trying to think of some sort of reason for it, maybe berley i guess but that seems kind of wasteful.

Nice Flatties Roberta, Good stuff

Very nice fish mate
I hope i get the chance to catch on of those one day.
By the way, what central coast beach did you catch that one on?

dont use the computer because when deleteing files from a computer it does not actually "delete" the files from your harddrive it marks them as rewritable so the harddrive can write over them. There is programs you can use to retrieve deleted files on harddrives but im not sure of the program name, i probs have it around my house somewhere but using it is another probelm. Your best bet if they are very important photos is to take it to your local Pc store and see if they can give it a go.
Ill look for the program to see if i can find it somewhere around here and let you know.
Hope this helps

Hi BTK,
WOW nice jewie
That is a great first, and you let it go!!!
Did it swim off OK???
Cheers and congrats
Mike
Yeh i let both the ones i caught go, that pic is of the bigger of the two and the first one swam off ok straight away, the second smaller one i had to get a bit of a nudge but he did eventually go swimming.
i wanted to keep one but ive got a few fish frozen in the freezer and i dont wanna take more then i can eat so i put them back to catch another day.
Cheers

Well this report is a bit late because i got them on monday night i think it was.
Went out to Budgewoi beach using some Philchads on a set of 3 gang hooks size 4s, and it was a pretty slow night but right when i began running out of bait i got my first two jewies ever so i was pretty excited, im not sure on the exact size of the first one (bigger one and the only pic) because i didnt get a chance to measure it because i wanted to release him fairly quickly.

Very nice Catch you got there mate, might have to go up the entrance way myself one day

ive got an older rod so ill have to have a look at the specs on that, but im starting to think i might be better off getting a decent combo instead of buying a reel seperatly.

Wow 42 Fish, Very nice

hey everyone
I dnt really have a clue about reels or anything but i was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent cheaper style reel for my beach rod as the one i am currently using is just a lend from a mate of mine.

G'day Cory
Sprinkle a bit of lemon pepper on the fillets, then wrap them separately (or pairs) in foil with a bit of butter. Place them on the hotplate. (I only turn them once). Depending on the heat of the plate and the thickness of the fillets, they should only take 3-5 mins each side. If you can do a "test run", you should know how hot, and for how long till they're cooked through.
Cheers
Peter
Cooked it up like this but i didnt have lemon pepper, i put some salt, pepper, lemon juice, butter and a tiny sprinkle of mixed herbs on both and put them on the bbq, Turned out very nice
Thanks for the Help Peter

lol u can carry the fish by the mouth and belly just behind the spikes
yeh but i had to carry all my gear aswell so it just seemed easier to have it over my shoulder while i was holding the knife lol

Went out Last night and got a Tailor and a 70cm Sand Flatty in about an Hour, was a great night for some fishing
Got them both on Full Pillys on 4.0 Gang Hooks, Was my second time beach fishing and im starting to enjoy it more and more
P.S. The knife in the head was to Carry it for 30 minutes up the beach back to the car after it was dead.

well another question why im here, i was thinking of getting a hand reel and setting up like a float on the live bait rig and sending the poddy out on that into the channels closer to the shore instead of setting up 2 beach rods which can be a pain to handle but im thinking it might be a bad idea if something big actually decides to grab ahold of it lol, what do you guys think?

Awsome, looks like im making some mullet traps tomorrow
Thanks for the Replies

Are poddy mullet worth using for live bait off of the beach? may be a stupid question but i only just started beach fishing so i dnt have a clue

This is just some old lures i got out of my tackle box and i havent really experimented with any of them and i dont think any of them would be usefull for what i want to do, but i might be wrong so if anyone has any ideas if any would be worth using for my situation then i will get some new hooks on it and stuff and give it a go, Thanks
-
Thanks for the replies everyone i really appreciate it, its great to get some guidance from people with knowledge =D
i only just started fishing again after a long break so at the moment im overwhelmed by the amount of lure you have to select from in a tackle shop but im mainly getting into some beach fishing so the lure fishing is on the side
Anyway as for what rods ive got i dont have a big selection as most of my gear was given away when i stopped fishing, for smaller rods ive got an over head Ugly Stick which is better for the boat but ive also got just a cheaper set up 5'6" rod with a cheap eggbeater type reel on it so ill be using that i think unless someone has some other suggestions because i can borrow alot of rods and reels from a mate of mine if needed.
i have a few lures that i may be able to use so i may post a picture later tonight with what i have and maybe someone could identify one that might be usefull if any of them are.
Also Roberta About the line im not sure whats on the reel ill be using but i think it may be due for a change anyway so i might go with the set up you mentioned if i actually get into the lure fishing more.

lol is it cheating to use the Squid Bar with a Pilly on it, i used to use that set up and get alot off of a jetty, it was good

hey all
this is my first post in the Fish raider forums although ive been reading for a while
I was thinking about starting to try some Lure fishing down at my local lake in Summerland Point and i know of a shallow weed bank where ive caught some nice fish before on bait and i was wondering what type of lure people would suggest for this environment? and also what the best time of day is to do the lure fishing.
Thanks in advance for any answers
Oh and P.S. i will be trying the lure from the Land if that means anything

Last time i went out in a Boat using SPs we had like a gulp container with the liquard in it, im not sure if you buy those with the plastics in them or weather you just put what u like in them. Might be worth checking them out at a Tackle Shop.
Cheers
