  2. just wanted to see what you guys reckon about the weather tomorrow. wanted to head outta the hacking
  3. its almost like a game sometimes trying to come up with excuses why you cant make it in to work. just wanted to hear some of your original excuses, hopefully some i havent used. there is always the old favourites like food poisoning, migrane etc and ive recently started a new job so thought i would try something different
  4. on saturday night went for a sesh in the hacking for a jew. found a nice drop off and settled in for a long sesh when after an hour another boat came and anchored no more than 13 m from us, probably closer. they actually anchored right where i was casting my bream rod. i couldnt believe it. personally i wouldnt go with in cooee of anyone .the exact same thing happened at como a few weeks ago. its not like it was in the middle of the day and there were boats everywhere so what is the need of parking so close? anyway we moved and ended up having a good night , no jew but some promising runs and good squid.
  5. hey guys im new to downrigging and just wanted to know what sort of distance you run your bait from your release clip. ive been told different lengths so thought id see what you guys reckon
  6. hey guys was wondering if any of have had this sounder and if so what do you think of it. got a chance to but 1 for about $100 bucks 2nd hand. do you reckon that its a fair price. i dont go out wide or anything deepest i go would probably 60 meters. thanks scotty
  7. hey fellas just about to build myself a bait tank out of an old esky. i was thinking of just having the water pick up and not a bilge pump. would water be pushed up in the pick up at downrigging speeds?? im hoping so but dont really think so.Im hoping to do this this way as i dont do much live baiting while not moving and if i can save a few bucks all the better.
  8. hey guys im looking for a map of the hacking that shows the weed beds there, can any of you point me in the right direction??
  9. i use to do this as well and we would put our baits, usally any meat we had , and put them in a pair of stockings, found the yabbies seemed to get caught on the stockings and you could just grab them or more reliable like brickman said put a net behind them
  10. there was no "stop the bus" or "thank your mother for the rabbits" with this guy.
  11. got some "proos". never heard of them before but they were really good price and are built very solid. thanks guys will steer well clear of the 1kg bombs and get maybe 1 x 8 pounder and 1 x 10 pounder
  12. recently got some manual downriggers but need bombs for them. Found some cheap that are 1kg. the deepest i would been wanting to go is about 15m down and at a slow troll so do you guys reckon they would do the job or should i just spend a bit more and get some heavier ones.

    Sharks

Guys reading lots lately about "soo many sharks" and how bad they are and im sick of it. yes they attack people and its horrific to the victim, friends and family of the victim. But at the end of the day the sharks didn"t break into someones house and attack. We go into their world. Swim, dive and fish in there world.Do things that attract them.If someone jumps into a lions den and gets attacked is it surprising?? And by the way the figures of the amount of sharks getting caught , getting their fins cut off and thrown back in, to have a terrible painful death are enormous. Cant remember the exact figures but sure its in the millions each year. Long live sharks!!

    Cricket

getting off the subject a bit saw glenn mcgrath trying to launch his brand new 6.5m haines hunter at cronulla boat ramp. he was towing it with a h2 hummer. it really isnt a ramp for boats like that but we had a chat and he is a good bloke and left him with the advise. wether he took it on board or not dont know. he told us it was the first time launching, funniest thing was my mate with me didnt know who he was.
