hey guys i have recently come across a trinidad dc30 and a shimano tiralejo 13 ft rod at mates rates shall i say..i have been getting some nice casts with the trinidad but just out of curiosity would like to know how far someone that is highly experinced with overhead reels would be able to cast..currently i am gettin around the 60-70metre range with the odd one goin around 80..so yeh just wonderin how far i should b able to cast as i practice more. cheers b4nd1t

  22. me and some mates just recently got back from a skiing trip and had a few days to spare so we decided to head up the coast to see if we could get onto some nice winter salmon..anyway first day there set the alarm for 4am and got up and began the trek to Spot x..the water was lookin beautiful without a cloud in sight..just as the sun began to rise the fist lure was thrown out and BANG!! im on..after a small fight i land i nice kilo tailor..The three other guys i was with quickly got their spinners into the water and had their first cast to the same result..This action continued for about and hour with one after the other being landed and then like magic they went off the bite..of about the 30 landed we kept 6 for dinner..the metal spinners seemed to have lost effectiveness so i decided to switch to bait..having caught all my previous kings on pilchard cubes i took this approcah again and after a small wait i was onto a little rat only went 50cms so sent him back..i rebaited and the a short time later my rod bucked and the drag peeled off the penn and i immediatley called it a king..after a nervous 5 minute fight trying to steer him from reefing me i finaly got him close enough to the rocks and my mate got a clean gaff shot on him..he went 76 cms and 3.4kgs on the scales and tasted great on the bbq later that night..along with that my mate landed a bumper salmon on a spinner he must have been 4-5kgs but we set the big girl free.. all in all a great trip and glad the fish were biting. cheers b4nd1t
  23. Had the day off work today so decided to go for a quick fish off the rocks at spot X in the eastern suburbs. I slept in so didnt get started til about midday but decided to have a go anyway...pulled the month old servo squid out of my fridge and got going...the swell wasnt too bad so i started to fish.. Caught a nice big leatherjacket which ill b having for dinner tonight.. after approximatly 1.5hrs my bait i through out one of the last pieces of bait and BANG!! my drag took off and and the line started to peel off the penn..I called a kingy..after about a 10 minute fight it surfaced to show that it was a massive salmon..i continued to fight it until it was tired out and then i had the task of waiting for a wave to wash it up onto the rocks...after numerous attempts a big swell finally washed her onto land..i couldnt believe it she must have gone 6 kilos easy and 70plus cms..sorry got no pics, spewin i didnt take the camera..anyway gave her a kiss and sent her back but definitely a PB for me and a great unexpected catch..must remeber to take a gaff next time Cheers bandit
