  1. I fished on mistress Monday Tuesday with not a lot of success at the vee Wednesday was the day at the gibber 40/30/20 for one boat while another watched on for 3/2/2 the fish are fussy at times so fishing light as you can is the best option but beware there are some 70kg plus models out there as well.fish are there it's just where?
  2. normaly get them pesky seals too stealing the fish.
  3. well done . did you catch them all on plastics ?
  4. mate it's more likely to be a little black than blue with all the bait that's around should be more to see and catch.
  5. nathan good stuff the first is always a buzz but at that size the eating quility is poor (thats why they call them soapy's) wait till you land that bigger one and taste the difference.. cheers bung-e
  6. g'day ray, mate i've been surfing avoca a fair bit lately and there has been so many schools of salmon out there it's crazy last friday i was constantly surrounded by massive schools of salmon and a pod of dolphins kept coming by and smashing the fish.it was an awesome sight to see.try the gutter just north of the pines or the gutter of lake street north av. tight lines bungy
  7. g'day sam, blue fin and yellow are quite similar in taste, they also look similar but generally yellow fin is a darker red in colour and blue fin a little less due to higher fat and oil content.albacore(chicken of the sea) has a higher body core temprature to the last two tuna and deteriorates three times faster than normal fish and if not handled well thru the process after caputure the fish creates a chemical that when you eat the fish it leaves a metalic taste in your mouth and can also make you unwell for 24 hours(histamine).the best way to handle tuna is to brain spike them straight awaythen bleed them, all fish shold be store in an ice slurry of salt water and ice.. TIGHT LINES
  8. you boy's have done well a striped marlin of approx 80kg the gemmy's and blue eye but what about the fin?got say nice rig you guy's have got
  9. has any one been fishing the far south coast lately?, interested in any reports.the weather looks good for the next few days.
  10. shhh, ray it's all good to talk about the salmon but can we keep the sneaky back yard lefts out of it.
  11. great job guys. i'm interested to know how many you lost on the light gear before you came up trumps?
  12. yes mate it was a fun arvo session i still can't get your cut finger out of my head and i think i tore a gut muscle lifting the esky full of tuna.any way thanks again i'm stoked i caught my pb fin. p.s how's your head
  13. mate perfect arvo for a flick should of kept that squid down the thing i find wih jew is they like to play with the bait sometimes. ive had fish from 15-20kg play with baits (dead and alive) for 20 minutes or so before they take it properly. good luck for next time or as they say tight lines
  14. gday mate i fished saturday spinning for frigates and bonnys of the stones north of sydney and hooked 2 had some great fun on 4kg braid lost both first 1 on the 6kg leader just shy of the rocks the 2nd one straightened the hook had a flick sunday morning with some heavier gear(15kg) and manage to get a couple of smaller models about 3-4kgs.
