  1. Gday All. Left friday arvo to head to Windamere for the long weekend. Fished every lure i had from shore and fished every bait, worms and yabbies. Not one fish wanted to bite. We had fish breaking the surface right at our feet. Just could not entice one to my line. We camped all weekend and the kids had a great time. As for the fish better luck next time. Thanks Dinnerbell
  2. Gday Bustoff Thanks for the reply. I will get down to the tackle store before i go there. Nice pics, they look pretty healthy. Thanks Dinnerbell
  3. Gday Raiders. I am heading out to Windamere Dam on the long weekend. Does anyone have any hints on catching fish there? Bait and lure fishing. I have a few stump jumpers etc, will they do the job. Thanks Dinnerbell.
  4. Gday Reviver. In the warmer months i have fished with 85gm raiders and caught striped tuna and my first lure caught kingy. I burley up and get the yakkas coming up to the boat and then the kings follow. Good luck Dinnerbell.
  5. Gday Hp Sauce They say you can put the eastern wirrah in a pot of boiling water with a big rock. When the rock gets soft, eat the rock. Cheers Dinnerbell
  6. Gday reviver. I have fished that spot many times and it can produce come good fish at times. I have hooked marlin, kingfish, tuna, snapper and jewfish all at this spot at different times of the year. Fish the southern side of the reef where it drops away. Just be careful on a low tide, the waves break so have a good look at it before anchoring up there. Hope this helps, let us know how you go. Cheers Dinnerbell
  7. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I have been scheduled for a vasectomy on the day after my birthday, wife has a bad sense of timing, great birthday present. Could not even have a beer on my birthday due to vasectomy on day after. Then have a week off work due to no heavy lifting and then can not get out fishing. Gave me a chance to transfer my waypoints from my hand held gps over to my new northstar chart plotter. Thanks again for the birthday wishes. hopefully will get a few reports in soon. Dinnerbell
  8. Gday Mike. I would love to take you up on the offer but unfortunately i will be out of action for the next 2 weeks. I have all my own gear and will throw in for fuel bait etc. I usually fish in my own boat a 6.1 mtr broadbill but it is always good to see what other boats go like. If you need anyone after the 2 weeks let me know. I am always keen. thanks Adam. 0407721007.
  9. Gday Herbmozo. I have a 6.1mtr broadbill. It has been a fantastic boat. It is a 1991 model with twin extra long shaft 1991 model mercury motors. I have had it for 3 years and have not had a problem. My boat had little use in the years before i purchased it. It was a christmas and easter boat. Only had 170 hrs on the motors. The only problem i had was towing. I had a falcon 1 tonne ute. The ute did a gear box even though it had pulling power the gearbox did not like it. Upgraded to a nissan navara 2.5 litre turbo diesel. The navara pulls it great. The trailer had to be rebuilt as it only had a mechanical over ride brake and 9 inch alloy wheels. I changed it to electric hydraulic brakes on both axles with 13 inch holden rims and light truck tyres. Anything over 2 tonne is required to have 4 wheels and brakes on both axles and also electric brake away. Once i changed the rims and axles it rolled fantastic and the brakes are fantastic but make sure the brake booster is mounted high as it is expensive and if drowned will have problems. Hope this helps. Cheers Dinnerbell.
  10. Gday zrealist Carp do get pretty big in the hawkesbury. I caught one that weighed 19 kilograms after it was gaffed and bled out for 4 hrs.I caught mine at lower portland on prawns in the saltwater. On the same day we caught bream estuary perch and flathead. I was not expecting carp. It was not as heavy as Benson but was about the same length. Mine was 1mtr long. We see lots of carp this size in the hawkesbury when paddling our canoe chasing bass. Great fun on light gear. Will post pictures later. Cheers dinnerbell
  11. Gday Lumpookey I went there on friday and the electronics and boats were great but there was only one fishing store and it had pretty cheap gear there. Last year there was 3 stores with some good quality gear there. So it depends what you go there for. I purchased a new chart plotter, so it was good for me. Dinnerbell.
  12. Gday Ross. It was made in 1991 and it was used as a volunteer coast guard boat. I purchased it 3rd hand from a fellow who only used it every christmas at crowdy head. I paid $22000 for it 3 yrs ago and it has twin 90 hp long shaft mercurys on it. The motors only had 170hrs on them when i bought the boat and now has 400hrs. It is a cuddy cabin. I have added live bait tanks outriggers and a new sounder. It is set up quite nicely for fishing. I called it Dinnerbell. I can take it wide or take the wife and kids out on the river. I absolutely love it. I have attached a couple of pics of her. Great to hear from someone who knows how great these boats are. Thanks Adam.
  13. Gday Musty. I will give that a try. Thanks mate greatly appreciated. dinnerbell
  14. Gday Raiders. I have recently purchased a furuno fcv 585 sounder with a 1 kilowatt transducer. I went to browns and had trouble reading bottom. I know you have to change a setting but am unsure what. If anyone can help with this it would be appreciated. Thanks Dinnerbell.
  15. Gday Ross. I have a 6.1 mtr marlin broadbill that i love fishing out of. I catch a few fish, but i still go on the occasional charter because they can teach you more in one trip than you can learn in 20 trips by yourself. Hope to see you out there someday dinnerbell.
  16. Gday Phar Cue. Awesome fish on ten kilo. Unlucky with the blue shark. There has been a few out there of late. 2 weeks ago i had a boat next to us hooked up and the reel was screaming. He got it to the boat after a ten minute fight. tight lines Dinnerbell.
  17. Gday Moe. Great catch for a days fishing. Awesome marlin. Very unexpected at this time of year. Very nice rig also. Go the Shark cat. Did you get into the fin? Tight lines Dinnerbell.
  18. Gday Uncle Bo Bo. The first silver fish is a ribbon fish. Not good eating as i caught my first one 2 weeks ago and asked the question is it any good to eat. Apparently worm infested but very good mako bait. The orange fish looks like a gurnard perch. A close relative to the red rock cod. They are apparently good to eat but as they look ugly and have spines i return them to the water. They have a nasty sting. Really nice gemfish there and good to see some blue eye being caught. Tight lines Dinnerbell

    My Boat

Gday Ray R I have met you before. I met you at Wagstaff boat ramp when i had the wife and kids out on the june long weekend. If i remember right you had a rather hefty snapper from around the front of box head. I had the boat tied to the end of the jetty. Thanks dinnerbell Gday get reel. I was there at christmas for 1 week and had a great time. I hooked a 60cm cod and it spat the hook at the boat. We also landed a few silver perch and the kids had a great time catching carp. Will do this again.

    My Boat

Gday Tan the fisherman. I am running twin 90hp mercury outboards they only had 170 hrs on them when i bought her 3yrs ago. It was an ex volunteer coast guard boat. It still has the stickers on it. I picked it uo for $22000. Did a lot of trailer work. Running 4 wheel disk brakes with hydraulic brakes electrically controlled with electric brakeaway. It is a great boat for running to browns as it will get there at a good pace depending on conditions. Thanks Dinnerbell.

    My Boat

This boat is fantastic. Her name is Dinnerbell. It goes anywhere and my family love it. I can fish browns one day and fish the hawkesbury next. We have even taken it to wyangala dam to fish for murray cod and waterski.
  22. Caught this at browns on 24 kilo stand up gear. Started cubing and seen other boats bringing blue eye aboard. I only had enough line on my 24 kilo gear to reach the bottom so down it went. 35 minutes later i brung this 19 kilo blue eye up. 40 minutes later my mate caught one that looked like it was my fishes twin. Delicious eating. Cheers Dinnerbell.
  23. Gday ungry warnie. Thanks for the warning about the worm infested critter. I guess anything that eats sash weights would eat just about anything. I wish i had of known about them being good mako bait as i seen 1 big mako caught in a boat next to us at browns yesterday and am sure there would have been more than one there. Cheers Dinnerbell. Gday Penguin You might just be onto something there but i would not like to be jigging at browns for too long. Although painting the sash weights in fluorescent paint couldn't hurt. Cheers Dinnerbell.
  24. Gday Raiders. Fished browns yesterday. Was hoping for a few blue eye or gem fish and then cube for fin. Set a bottom rig on the winch and when we wound it up it felt like there was nothing there. When it reached the top we had a fish that had swallowed the sash weight. We did not have a hook in the fish. It was a ribbon fish of about 5 feet long with a 1 and a half foot long sash weight in its throat. We could only see the very top of the sash weight. First time i have ever seen a ribbon fish. They really got ripped off with their tail fins. They have a very small tail fin compared to their body. They have some big choppers. After this cubed for 1 albatross tangled in our lines. 1 strike and a missed hook up and a long trip home in the dark. Love going wide and fishing the bottom as you see some unusual and very tasty fish. Does any one know if ribbon fish is good eating. We kept this one as it was dead after choking on the sash weight.
  25. Gday all. Am heading out to browns on saturday 11th from rose bay ramp. Have a 6.1mtr marlin broadbill. Just bring your own gear and food i will supply bait and will share fuel costs. I tow the boat from hawkesbury. Call me on 0407721007. Thanks Adam.
