  1. I wouldn't be entirely disappointed if sale of "all our wonderful seafood" was significantly cut back and people were expected to catch whatever wild fish they wanted to eat. Farmed fish could become the commercial norm for those who just want a bit of fish with dinner.

Same as it is for cows and sheep.

I actually hope that this will be the way of the future.

    agreed.

    +1

i used to love catching hairtail with my dad

now im lucky to see a whole one :05:

  2. IMHO go the common rather than the easy those trophy fish the ones that make being a member here even more worth while so u can whack the happy snaps up on the brag board...they have a nasty way of finding the slightest little weakness in your tackle and destroying u..making u look like a fool in the process ive had sessions where ive been fishing off the rocks for pigs and caught bootfish after bootfish and then losing hooks by the end of oit i was fed up took a short cut and as i was lifting the pig out of the water my knot failed

my suggestion do he common and saev ur trophy

good point bass beginner good point

  3. i just learned how to tie a common snell for its use as a sliding snell

but i found there is an easier way to tie a snell which is on you tube

i still am tieing commons snells though

my question is does anyone use the easy method as the line finishes on top of the snell not under as the common snell does i worried about its strength really

also does anyone know what the line strength percentage on snells ?

    thanks mike

  4. well im in the market for a rod in the 6-10kg range as i now have access to a boat

the rods im looking at are

ugly stick platinum 6-10 kg 1 pc at 120

live fibre 6-8 kg 1 pc at 179

    a snapper raider 2 2 pc 6-8 kg at 159

and repala braid concept 8-15kg 2 pc at 279 kg range is higher but this rod is sensitive as

now the problem is im worried that if i buy either the snapper raider 2 or braid concept as they are thin and sensitive the large snapper leads we will be using will over work the rods and then with a fish as load it will be worse as the other two are much thicker and dont over bend the rod

i know the braid concept i much more fragile than the others and i think the snapper raider is carbon which would aslo make it fragile

i walked out of the shop after 30 mins browsing and drive off as i could not decide and did not want to make any bad call and get something i may regret

any one used these rods particularly the live fibre rod

    or any better recommendations

im looking to chase kings ,dollies the good fighting fish

    thanks mike :biggrin2:

  5. i think but im not sure that roberta was snelling them when she was at the hawkesbury river with some other raiders not to long ago and she said snelling them is the way to go

    maybe they'll chime in

That's interesting info, looks like the article was well researched as well (awaiting peer review)

FT you didn't post this bit which I also think is very relevant to the topic:

Do you guys Snell your circle hooks? Has anyone noticed a difference?

    Cheers, Joel
