Sargeant Baker

Hey guy's just wondering if anyone has eaten a sargeant baker before. They seem to come up quite often. They say they are edible but they don't look very inviting.

We auction off quite a few after Searfishing comps to our greek comunity, apparently they are the ants pants when it comes to fish for fish head soup?

I've heard its the best thing going round to, havent tried it myself!

I've eaten them a number of times. Nice white flesh - tasted pretty good to me.

As Chris says however, you gotta fillet carefully to get as many of the bones out as you can.

they are good eating, just an amazing amount of bones in them.

I found it rather ordinary to eat,we roasted one with veges,

and it had heaps a bones.

I remember my mother cooking one up when i was a kid. Took out every bone and then mixed it with mashed potatoes, tasted quite like lobster, mind you that was more years ago then i care to remember. I remember the pile of bones that came out of the thing.
