ozguy
Hi folks, I am looking to purchase a SP reel in a couple of week and would like some input on the Daiwa Exceler 2500. I just got back from JV Marine and tested the Shimano Symetre 2500 and i am very impressed...GREAT little reel BUT at the same time i would like to know how is the Daiwa compared with the Shimano??? Little_Flatty
I just bought my dad an Exceler in a 1500 size to match Saqa's bream UL. Nothing against the Stymere, just the right size wasn't available at my local shop. It's no stradic or certate but a nice reel all the same and quite a sharp looking one too. You can't really go wrong with the stymere or exceler. All the best Mike

Cheers Hi mate, You have a couple of very nice reels there. You could use the BTR 4500 for casting sluggos and shads at bigger stuff and the SOL 2500 (this is a standard 2500 sized threadline I assume) for smaller bream and flathead SPs. Load them up with good line, match them to a good rod and in my humble opinion I don't really see why you would need to get anything else to enjoy your fishing.
