Big Bob
All, Caught this shark in the Bellinger River while livebaiting for Jewies. He was about 5 feet long with 2 Ramoras on his back.Sorry about the photo(mobile phone) however he was underwater and didnt want him too close as his dental work was most impressive and we were in a 12 ft boat. Fight took 25 mins and he had my Okuma EB-80 screaming.
kevvie
The resolution of the picture makes this photo look eerie. Almost ghost like. Cool pic man.
Martin
Great effort Big Bob, 5 foot of shark form 12 foot of boat. It may have been a whaler, even more so an impressive capture as they use there big petrol fins to create greater resistance when hooked. I assume it must have been hooked in the corner of the mouth or lip hooked to have not bitten you off. An impressive effort Big Bob. Oh and did you get any jewfish? Big Bob
No Jewies dropped what I thought may have been one the next night hit him and came up with my hooks and no mullet. The shark was hooked in the corner of the mouth and the other hook eas in its pectral fin.Good Call. When I hadnt been bitten off I called it for a Jewie with the head shakes etc. This is my 5th visit to the North Coast for no Jewies so hopefully next time. Big Bob
No bull why would I lie about the only decent fish ive caught in 12 months. My Brother was bitten off the next night by the same after 5 mins. The mullet school up behind a wall and when the tide changes make there way out to sea thru a break in the wall. A live mullet here is sure to attract something and hopefully a Jew. My brother related a funny story while fishing the same spot last year. A guy was going past the boat snorkelling when his mate said. "You wouldnt be in there if you saw what was coming thru in 10 minutes". The snorkeller left the water and walked home . R_Zee
I remember when i first started fishing i was on my friends boat going for jews at night at culbarra. he got a school shark, i jumped on the seat 2 of my friends were gaffing it. it was barely a meter and the boat was at least 18feet. 5 foot shark on a 12foot boat is scary... especially at night!
