ETTY
Hey Raider's, I'm a new member and starting to get pretty into fishing. I "attempt" to fish the Port Hacking with usually limited success (using SP's and bait) and I was wondering if anyone could give me any spots to try (boat or land) and any general tips when fishing the area (i.e. tides etc.) would be much appreciated. I'll be more than happy to tell you on my successes and give any pointers or areas I discover during my fishing sessions. Thanks in advance ETTY (tomorrow I hope!) njsconst
Never fished Port Hacking without a boat, but here are some good spots if you have access to a boat. Try the sand flats near Lilli Pilli on a run-up tide. I fish there regularly in the summer months with live beach worms and usually get a bag full of thumper whiting and the odd bream. Another spot is the sand flats west of the Fisheries Depot at the entrance to Gunnamatta Bay. Also had alot of luck here for whiting on live beach worms, however the stingrays can be a nuisance. Outside, try around Jibbon Bombora for Kingies. Just watch the swell and as the tides lowers. The Bombora breaks! On the eastern side of the bombie were it drops of to about 30mts is where I've had the most success. Good Luck with it.
robthefisherman
also the entrance to sth west arm near the red marker there is a dropoff behind the sandbar that goes down about 7m, fish the dropoff for a mixed bag of species. I find this the most reliable spot in the port
