Wollongong Yesterday

Good day Raiders, went down to the Gong yesterday

with the local hotel fishing club, headed out on the charter boat

about 6.00am, water was a weird looking colour, popped a lure

out the back but no surface action to be had on the way out.

We went down South towards the three islands with the idea

of trying to stay out of the wind and current which was playing havoc

with the other charter boats that went out wider, anyway no matter where we went

SWEEP SWEEP and more SWEEP, my only saving grace was a 2.5Kg Red Groper

and the biggest Poor Mans Lobster ive ever seen, anyway not much of a report

but there you have it anyway, on a by note have never seen so many young

Mutton birds on the water, it was like something out of a Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Good day Shaun and Claudia, thank you for your time and patience

on Saturday, both rod and reel combo's went down a treat,

both father and son were stoked with there new gear,

one small prob though (not really), the father had to have a go of his sons new rod

and reel as you would, and was so impressed with it he is going to contact you for the same

combo for himself, he also would like to thank you personally for having the time

to put the braided line on at such short notice and the more than generous discount

that was given.

Thanks again mate.

Good day Ben, you picked it in one one mate,

ive been going out with Ron for about 2 years now,

we also go out with Paul (the boat next to Dougo's)

once a month with the RSL, we headed up to Towradgi

on our previous trip and got a good feed of Flatties,

i think with the weather on Sunday the boats where hesitent

to head North, the gear i use is a Penn 805S Powerspin rod

& Penn 9500SS reel loaded with Berkley 15kg Fireline,

I trolled a Rapala shallow diver for a while with no luck,

the bait was salted mullet, salted mackeral, squid & prawn.

I usually fish a 2 to 3 hook pateroster rig if the boat is full

but if we dont have a full crew and current is good i use a

single hook on a 2 mtr trace you tend not to catch as much

as the other guys using the paternoster set up, but if the reds

are about i find this set up more succesfull.

ps had the Groper last nite YUM YUM YUM

Two out of two Ben your on a roll mate, (any good with Lotto numbers)

the rod, reel and line has not changed,

and yes he does treat the diesel a bit like gold,

but on the up side your right he is a top bloke

and he has shown me a secret or two that have made

a big difference to the way i bottom bash.
