Small Skirted Lures Hooks

I am very new to trolling the salt and started of with some small xmas tree skirts. They came with a single 9/0 hook but i think this might be too big for palegics like slamon, kings and tailor.

Should i change it to a single or multiple singles? and if so which size

Or would trebles be the way to go?

9/0s are fine (well for stripies anyway) tailor im not so sure about though, but for salmon and kings there fine

tricking them up with an extra stinger hook would be good if the fish are smaller and only nipping the end of the lure

not to sure about trebles but i would think the may tangle or get caught it the skirts

I like to use the gamakatsu saltwater fly SL12S big game hooks.

They are a thiner hook but still strong enough if you hook a kingfish.

They provide much better hookups on tailor, salmon and bonito then the

thicker hooks. You could run a double hook rig but on a smaller lure just

use beads infront of the hook so that it sits at the rear of the lure.

i use the exact same hooks on all but my biggest lures mako, i understand they are fine to fish 30lb but 50lb gear is slightly pushing it if you fish at sunset...

You definately get a much better hook up, they are sharper and thinner and penetrate the fish's bony mouths with ease... i set them up so the bottom of the gape is at the very end of the skirt.
